Elite Dangerous | System Colonisation Beta Details & Feedback

On that discount construction cost doubling (if it isn't already confirmed to be a bug anyway): I remember a similar discussion on the x4 neutron boost, and that it was originally intended to be a x1/4 boost (since the harder WD boost is only x1/2), but some dev erroneously inversed the constant. Maybe the same is true here and the intention is to have it halved, anyway. However, if this is true, it should be fixed ASAP, lest it becomes "acquired right" like the neutron stuff (or better "acquired duty" in this negative case).
EDIT: Just realized that this simplified depiction might trigger numberphiles. Of course the real factor would have been 3 that got reversed, as in boost=x*(1+3) instead of x*(1+1/3), just like in x*(1+1/2) for WDs.

Renaming Systems? FDev on a daily base would have to drop an update to the stellar forge..... no thanks, the updates suck already and if I look at some station-namings occured already - I really don´t want see a system named "Big D**ks for rent" on Galmap .
We already have censored words in station naming - why whould you think there will be no censorship for star systems? Even if the words mean something rude in other (non-english) languages - FDev may add a note about name recall via bugreport tickets.

It's personally a complete eyesore to see those censorships... seeing that all over the galaxy map... much less how the hell do i even search that system.... no thanks.

shrug

I mean, i think there's some valid points... i just don't think accusing FD of being malicious or any other emotive words is useful to anyone during a beta test.
Some people just assume malice by default. I don't get this paranoia, Frontier have nothing to gain and everything to lose by intentionally punishing and upsetting the players. This seems like a bug.

But hey, let's get out the torches and pitch forks and burn the witch.

Hello -

On this CMDR Mechan discount thing..........

My system has 10 facilities and so has unlocked the active discount.

There are no visible increases to facility construction costs.

Edit: the value of the discount, as far as I can tell, is about 3.5%.

Of course, im just kinda skeptical cause he didnt show up any corraborating evidence of someone else experiencing the issue before posting a video about it and going around reddit saying he thinks its intentional.
Sadly this is the MO of a certain kind of influencer, and there is a pattern with this particular one. People need to stop spreading other players' opinion as gospel just because they have a Youtube channel. "Influencers" are the modern day snake oil salesmen.

Yeah like... I'll call out bad design for sure... or question how a choice could be made without a certain assertion holding true...

But no company really goes "ok, how we gonna screw over people today"... i can totally see game design shaped by money, shareholder influence, good player report stats, but by malice/ genuine want to hurt the player base?

pardon the pun, but there's no profit in that.

The automatic docking works poorly - it constantly catches on structures. I suggest removing these elements of the construction site or better yet, fixing the docking computer.

The type of construction is not visible. There is no general detailed information about the system.

Monotonous "gameplay", hundreds of flights from A to B .

This is an awful decision and completely throws off a ton of otherwise good systems that now won't have enough slots to build up to T3.

Worst of all, this surprise is sprung on them right as they're about to reach it. In fact, people will be penalised for building one at a time, rather than finishing 9 ports and rushing out as many T2 and T3 building sites as they can so they can have them locked in before the penalty goes live on the completion of their 10th.
Has anyone been able to confirm this for themselves? I’ve been seeing conflicting accounts that this may not be a thing; either because the video is fake or there was a bug or other issues causing this In the video.

There can even an argument be made how Frontier might have thought it neccessary to throttle T3 building spam. You can think of it as misguided and disagree with it, but usually they think up of something thinking it is a good idea, even though you might disagree and think they are wrong. But certain parts of the "dedicated" player base have become somewhat hostile to Frontier and always assume Malice 🤷‍♂️ .

Ok that does it, has anyone aside from Mechan been able to confirm the increase in facility costs once you've unlocked the active discount?

Change your angle of approach or switch to manual docking.

No, this is not a solution, we are talking about hundreds of monotonous flights and dockings. At this time, everyone I know watches TV series and videos on the second monitor, this process is so "interesting".

Being an architector that has no understang on what result will his work have - FDev-s style of game design and implementation? Try it yourself and see what happens - that's how developlent works in the FDev company? :ROFLMAO:
But do you have absolutely no understanding? Or is it just the absence of a potentially unnecessary level of detail?

Like, i see this:

... and i think "seems pretty self explanatory".

but i guess people go "ok, but what does 3 levels of "tech level" mean? Does it mean i can get class 8 cargo racks?

I dunno... but does it matter? Maybe? Does anyone not just get all their fittings from Founders World. These stats have always been therev on facilities (albiet hidden), and we've not had to care about them before, so why now?

Like... i do get it... but also is it really that big a deal?
Has anyone been able to confirm this for themselves?
Anyone who wants to confirm, seems to be confirming that it's not the case for them?

It takes 5 seconds to boost and change the angle 🤷‍♂️

As someone who regularly has to serve up to customers "here it is, it's not great but fkit, we don't know how else to do this... so tell us what works and what doesn't and we'll do it that way" on the regular... i know that feel.

... but bluntly... it feels more and more that the game we see is a result of a separate plan that's not about the game quality, but instead it's commercial viability, with the ED team stuck in the middle making lamb out of mutton... but that's getting ot fast
