there is hope - slowly re-instancing times become more stable ~ 5 to 10 sec.....
You guys are getting error messages? Mine just slowly fades to black like my CMDR fell asleep at the wheel
I did the same thing: download json from spansh, quicktype some of the systems to get a c++ json parser, and write code to load systems near the bubble to find candidates, both first and second order. (Second meaning I'd need to put an outpost in a bridge system to get to the system that was actually interesting.)Since i am currently handling some json data from edsm and spansh, extracting necessary infos for potential colonisation systems (there are some systems with 60 ! landable bodies) i've got some insight into the amount of data the servers must handle.
we had 20k populated systems before with around 35k stations holding potentially 10-20M commodity entries. outfitting ? probably also a few million entries.
now we've got 10k new systems? they of course do not have that much stations and buildings as already established systems - but the populated system count doubled!
then you need to handle the increased fleet carrier movements and transactions. all market and station transactions as well have increased.
i don't know how often the servers "tick" and have to calculate some stats, but having +50% more systems for sure is keeping them busy.
that does not mean that fdev couldn't have anticipated that. they would have just needed to look at player spikes when other new features where introduced and approximated how many players would create systems to know how much more server power they need.
maybe they have a fixed cluster system for the servers that can't be extended so easily. so server XY34 handles the XYZ ly cube with a size 50^3ly and when that server is overloaded all players on there get connection errors. almost certainly something like this. maybe it is not that easy to just "add" a second server to that cluster, if it is programmed that only that one server handles all database transactions in that region then that would suck.
Puts life in perspective, Pray everyone's safe.I think the staff would happily change places with me. Here in St. Louis, MO, USA, we had a massive tornadic outbreak. Even the local CBS station had to take cover during the broadcast coverage of the storms. The sirens went off nine times. At least three confirmed major tornadoes on the ground in the metro area. The southern one missed me by four kilometers.
Tomorrow morning will be far worse than that at Frontier.
Greetings Commanders,
i think that has nothing to do with the program but with ultra-high demand by players - DDeOS by gamersPlease turn colonization off again. This is even worse
This is ridiculous. If I sell 5 mio copies of a game I need capacity for 5 mio players. simultaneously. Easy mathi think that has nothing to do with the program but with ultra-high demand by players - DDeOS by gamers![]()
all the snakes ate all the hamstersServers seem to have finally fallen.
There was a frenzied activity.
By indirect characteristics
And this leads to, as I already said... miscalculation.I don't even care about colonization, all I want to do is grind for my power rank. Double the amount for bounties when you hit 100% makes billions very quickly; it's costly running my carrier and engineering my ship collection. But yet again it's Mauve Adder after Mauve Adder after Mauve Adder... Can't really complain though, Frontier is doing this by only making money from ARX sales to pay for server costs. The amount of data that's being created from the new colonies must be incredible, it's more than likely overwhelming the servers and thinning the bandwidth allocation per player.
That information should have that well known troll face right next to it.Should mean I CAN JOIN THE GAME
:/
Then it disconnected? Or is it stable now?miracles do happen! Could do 3 Jumps in succession AND schedule a FC-Jump with 15 Min spool !
