Elite Dangerous | System Colonisation Beta Details & Feedback

Very hard to find Insulating Membranes. Even when visiting stations that carry a higher number of them (like 70 wow!), by the time you get there they are all gone. Waiting 10 minutes and trying again at the same station, gives you 2 - 12 at a time. See attached screenshot

There's better ways, but people have tunnel vision for inara.

There are multiple examples in this very thread of casual players building an outpost already - and actually the deadline is a month. So everyone who wants to play the game is... playing the game?
Or not.
As another example I don't like endless FPS sorties and terrible framerates and the unfathomable suit engineering so I don't take those missions, but I don't come to the forum and complain that means Odyssey is "only available to a few."
This is a feedback thread. That's what I am delivering. My post comes in the form of thing that can be better with recommendation how to make thing better. That is exactly what this thread is here for. What, exactly, does your post offer, apart from complaints?

Hi,

the performance problem since colonisation is back online is not fixed, can not get into the game Error: Orange sidewinder loading screen is jittering.

Quick question: I know this is not a troubleshooting forum, but I don't know if its a bug..

I built a surface station (refinery), and it's now active.
Every time I get close, it tells me I am trespassing, and I get a fine. There is no option to dock in the contacts section. I've watched NPC ships dock, etc...
I can't do anything with it (other than pay fines!!)

Any idea what I may be doing wrong/what's going on?

nothing wrong, nor a bug. You built a Horizons Installation, thes are all like that

Hi,

the game is not playable anymore, whatever you did yesterday it made it worse, the whole game is jerks when I get inside or I get Orange Sidewinder when I try to get into the game. If you click on something it takes about a second to respond.

  • You already said this 15m ago.
  • games working fine for myself and, as far as i can see, many others
  • Orange Sidewinder is network related, so could be on your end too.
Try a support ticket if needed?

I must be hallucinating that I'm 1/4 of the way through my third system-claim outpost solo (only took an hour to boot)and 7th or 8th construction overall.

"Make the game better" for some subjective interpretation.

You're free to voice that. And people are free to disagree with that opinion and present a balanced collective viewpoint to FD.

Check Teng Yeh system, high pop and 9 refinery port available (both space and ground), our squad source the vast majority of the building material there.
Agri market also available and even high tech from the local Mahon fleet (if you have the Mahon pledge).

Thanks commanders, I will check those out. Just wanted to (also) point out that all the other commodities are available within 50 LY, but Insulating Membranes require moving a carrier, or 7-10 jumps with your cargo ship (one way).

You gotta go to high population systems, and preferably not hybrid economies, as a general rule of thumb. Also, people are smashing the L docks... you're much better hitting an outpost with a T8 to get almost 400 in a single hit, and hold a 40Ly jump range (also, don't be afraid of using jumponium, since materials are as common as grass these days)

Is the placement of the orbiting stations/installations still bugged? I placed a satellite into slot 0 of a moon and it was placed into slot 1 instead. If that's still the case, I will wait until it's fixed before I place my Coriolis

to be honest I think it is fine having to use a fleet carrier if you want 1000s of tons of some rarer stuff
there has been so little to actually need a fleet carrier for and colonisation has actually given fleet carrier owners - or at least one in a squadron - a genuine utility.
this for me is a great thing as I had been saving for one since they launched but when the time game could not really justify one. now I can.

the cmm composites arguably did need a tweak but I can't help but think FD over did it a little. I would say insulating membranes are is a good place however

Bit of an aside... but one thing i find... i dunno what the feeling is... bemusing?... is how incredibly dependent on goods from Refineries this stuff is.

There's a huge array of goods, and the comparative lack of need for industrial or high tech goods for a construction operation is unusual.

Everyone is scrambling to stand up refinery economies in their systems.... leading to industrial/ economy in absence of a comparable refinery facility. But HT is only really being done for the outfitting/ shipyard pieces, rather than the economy.... and Agriculture is a bit "john-travolta.gif"...

I wonder if there's a bit more diversity that could be added to requirements, without increasing overall volumes?

i think its a fair point, the reality is building any settlement, even a small one would likely need a bit of everything from the markets.

however i guess FD were trying to find a balance between adding in a few different goods vs having player complain that it is too bitty . i just headcanon it that a lot of the low numbers bits and pieces just come with the payment for the claim and are included inside the colonisation ship.

that said, that argument would make more sense if the initial cost was significantly higher (but maybe countered with the monthly profits of functioning systems being a little higher)

Thanks, @Xenia_K - I'm not going mad then. One of the issues noted in the thread is people forgetting what they built. I can't even recall selecting it! :) Have no idea what these do or why we can even create them if there is no interaction, but I guess they contribute to the system somehow. I appreciate you taking the time to answer.

Has anyone been successful in getting a war to start in their colonized system? I tried by bumping up the influence of a PMF. The rise in influence was successfully but it just took 2nd position when it should have started a war (influence lines crossed with no conflict started). My primary port has been completed since March 3rd so I've seen a couple of weekly ticks.View attachment 421598
Got loads in our colonies.
