50,000+ tons of CMM Composite at 792t a trip = 64 trips. From the Port to the FC. 64 trips from the FC to the Colonization ship. 127 total trips.

We really need a Trucker Ship that holds 1000 tons. 2000 would be better. 25 trips vs 64.
Slow to start, slow to stop, for sure, like any filled truck.
We have a fantastic new Bio Hunter Ship. Please add a Trucker Ship built for Colonization.
Any Ship building business could see that... and want to be first to build them to sell to colonizers.

FDev makes money selling these for 3-6 months, so why not?

That then calls for any future hauling thing to just be rebalanced around the new "meta" hauling capacity.

It would also be pretty scummy to design an entire mechanic around goddawful gameplay, consisting of hours of hauling borefest then sell a bandaid as a p2w ship, even if temporarily. Particularly condemnable in an already paid game.

It would make way more sense to redesign and rebalance colonisation so that people aren't bored to tears hauling crap for hours.

Some people are already claiming that the amount of stuff we are delivering is nowhere near enough for what is being built.
I'm not complaining about how much is needed to build anything. I'm saying the current ships are insufficient to move that amount of material, and role playing as a company that builds ships would see the advantage of building and selling a Trucker ship that could haul 1000 or 2000 tons. in 2025 there are semi trucks that haul up to 3 trailers in some states.

Once you have your first outpost built, everything else can be done in slow time. A couple of loads a day, and then do other stuff. More if in the mood. The station gets built eventually. What's the rush?
No rush. Just tired of making hundreds of boring trips. Either reduce the material required, which some say is less than should be required, or increase the amount of material we can carry. None of the ships currently available are made for this sort of transportation.

I don't understand why people are building tier 3 stations by themselves. Some form of self loathing I assume.

Although I do agree with us having a bigger cargo ship. Even an outpost is a good deal of hauling for one person, even compared to wing hauling missions.

Although if FDev made something that handled worse than a T-9 for shifting 1000t - 1200t, I guess that would just come with the territory.

We aren't building t3s, hell im not even building a t2, im just done with doing A->B->A hauling over and over and im fed up.

I really wish i could engage with the colonistation system, but this is goddawful, and that the devs refuse to acknowledge the lack of game design here doesn't bode well for the future of ED, if things like pp2, SCO FSD and engineering reworks were flukes.

There wouldn't be much point in building huge colonisation ships with multiple landing pads if just one ship was involved in construction. I think the idea is that you're just one contracted pilot among many - probably why the requirements for the same type of station vary slightly for different builds (small scale verisimilitude™).

50,000t for one commodity is way above anything I've seen for a T2 construction. Although I do get that the whole backwards and forwards thing getting pretty stale which is why I'm going to be giving the whole thing a break until we have some more information about what we're doing. This is something that had come to mind before the update landed- we're going to haul a load of goods to create identical systems to what we already have? Well, that's not going to be for everyone.

I'm not going to get grumpy about that when there's plenty to do in the game that I am happy to rinse and repeat. Powerplay is keeping me occupied and there's other stuff coming up as well, so I'm probably going to be happy just doing a few runs to help people out from time to time until I get sick of flying my trade Cutter (again).

I have no doubt the Panther Clipper or something similar is coming as one of the pay-real-cash preview ships this year. Probably something with a 1000 Ton Cargo Capacity.

Although if we're extrapolating from the Corsair and Cobra mkV, I'm willing to guess the Panther Clipper will come with more hardpoints than Anaconda, the manoeuvrability of a Corvette, will out run a Cutter and hold 1500t of cargo while still having 5000 of both shields and hull and a 30 ly jump range.

what's the size of their FSD and shields? ;)
Comparing land vehicles with space ships doesn't work in a linear fashion.

No downsides then.

If it holds 1500 tons of cargo I'm happy. Now, when is that coming out???
