Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

What's sad, what's really and truly sad, is that these people will, at the end of the day when Chris has made off with all of our money and there's nothing left but the whiff of a game inside of a broken tech demo, there will still be people saying it was the best game they ever played, and they got more out of it than they paid into it, as if it will somehow justify the whole thing as worthwhile.

There will be people saying "when you buy NFTs you're only buying a picture!" as if that somehow makes it better, or "people spend more than that on those mobile casino games and they're not calling it a scam!" as if THAT will somehow make it better. There will be a considerable swathe of people, in my opinion, who will go down with the ship, drown, and still call it the best cruise they've ever been on.

Let's be honest here. Chris could state "LOL suckers, totally scammed you all" while riding off into the sunset and people like ChatJ3PT will still be telling people they are being disingenuous for being critical.

And there are still new joiners to the ranks. Entranced by the cloud cover dappling those foreshadowed future lands...

That is also why this game needs the usual widespread game press reviews and scores, just as many other Early Access are often subjected to. God knows the brutal monetización CIG and SC have been profiting from alone should be more than enough to justify it.

Game reviews and scores as imperfect as they may be, in aggregate, are precisely one of the main levers to offer the market some basis of factual information before buying; or at least slightly less biased than the current dominating source of info, CIG itself.

Amazing comment under my 'stretch goal poll' short:

Dreams totally trump reality ;)

LOL, at the time literally nobody asked for that because Chris said he could deliver more in the same time with more funding and people with no idea about software development or project management thought "oh, great". Also, about 50% of backers didn't vote for it. They love to forget about that.

Hell, the poll wasn't even about whether backers wanted a fully fledged MMO - that was never even asked. The polls were about whether to keep funding goals going and keep expanding the scope.

Question, what year did CR move to the UK? Would he have been drawing a salary from the UK in 2023 perhaps? Will this be the year we finally get to see CR's salary?

Sorry, i mean to say out of those who actually voted.

Oh right yep. Yeah the 2014 poll was much more tepid:

55% - Yes
26% - No
20% - No preference

The classic 'do more, but faster' 2013 vote was stacked heavily in favour though:

5% - Take the funds raised counter down after $23 million (mission achieved!)
7% - Have the funding counter display the amount towards the current stretch goal / feature, not the total amount once we reach $23M.
88% - Keep it up through development and continue to offer stretch goal rewards in addition to extra features and development milestones.

If from only a sliver of the community etc.
