Have you ever wondered what to do today ?

I my perp for the black excursion I need to get some materials for engineering.
I thought I would do something I have never done before after 8 years & 4000 hours, go out to Hot Jupiter and blow up defenses tour ships.
I am now a terrible person but Fdev made me do it.

Actually it’s not my fault if these tour ship drivers can’t drive and keep running into me.

By the way they drop really cool materials when they blow.

Did you know that Hot Jupiter is a real thing

Which ones and how many do you realistically need?

PP activities are a good way

Tritium Monkeys? https://www.tritiummonkeys.com/home

Only if you have to have the Pre Engineered drives.

Hopefully art least some of my suggestions above help with that tired feeling…

Good luck!
Nice suggestions.

My alt account hasn’t gotten much love in the last couple of years.
Knowing that he’s a Boy Scout I thought best if he is prepared for the trip.

Besides it gives me something to do, that’s what it’s all about.
Carrier now full 20k Tritium

I have heard about that quite some time ago, seen some YouTube clips about it as well.
Here's a hilarious one.
I just can't bring myself to blowing up innocent whales.

Excellent video !
I also strayed away from blowing up innocent ships collecting materials.
Years ago it was a thing to attack type 9’s maybe still is.

Now my alt is leaving the bubble I thought what the heck, live like a pirate

Collect one of everything in the game on your carrier.
that kept me busy for a year or so.
Edit : Not stolen when posible.
I had the idea some time ago to make my carrier an emporium of obscure things. I started collecting bits of Thargoids, Guardian stuff etc., and was amazed to find that people would buy this stuff (at quite good prices) faster than I could collect it. Why? :)

What’s you go to activity to fight boredom ?
  • pick a round number - let's say one billion.
  • transfer all your money except that amount to your FC. Your balance is now 1,000,000,000
  • fly to some part of the bubble you haven't been to.
  • buy a ship, outfit it without going to Jameson. Your balance is now less than a billion.
  • do PVE piracy and see how long it takes you to get back to a billion. See how long it takes you to earn another million.

When you go below a billion, think of it as like a loan. 0% interest, but still, a loan you have to pay back.

Basically, you're role-playing as someone who got a loan to buy a small ship and be a bad guy. You could also do other activities besides piracy if you want to experience that.

I started in 2016 and now have over 3500 hours invested, and have done I believe just about everything in Elite.
There have been many times I have just sat in my ships cockpit and contemplated just what I should do.
There are just so many pirates one can eliminate or settlements to raid before going crazy.
The other day after looking for a fresh adventure, I took my carrier out to HIP 36601 to gather up some raw materials.
I had a good old time shooting crystals.

What’s you go to activity to fight boredom ?

What’s something you haven’t done in a long time but good to do again ?

I think my next adventure will be lighting up the Thargiod Map Room.
Tourist beacons, there's over 700 with some amazing sights and storys.

Doesn't even need to be just "to fight boredom", as you can often do useful things For example:
  • If your material inventory is not full, fill it up, completely. (In other words, go to a material trader and trade down all your G5 materials for smaller ones, and then fill up on all G5 materials. Rinse and repeat until you are completely or almost completely full.) You'll be glad you did when new ships come out and you want to engineer them.
  • If there are ships you haven't unlocked, unlock them (most particularly the Imperial Cutter and the Federal Corvette.)
  • Upgrade your suit and weapons.
  • Rank up in your superpower of choice by engaging in PP2 in order to unlock new modules and weapons.
Other things I have been doing lately:
  • I took the Cobra Mk V to Beagle Point, because why not. And along the way I visited several interesting systems that I had bookmarked but had never visited before (for example the two famous pitch-black stars.) (And no, no fleet carrier. I don't even own one. Old-fashioned way, all the way.)
  • I had never really studied what the BGS is about, and why so many players engage in it. I always thought it was an effectively squadron-only activity. However, I recently watched a video about it that said that it's perfectly doable on your own, without having to join a squadron, and I have lately started tipping my toes on it. It can be fun at least for a little while.

Upgraded ships, upgraded suits, bought carrier, filled he up and Thursday night pushed off for Explorers Anchorage got 5,00 LY’s out.
Friday I noticed a new CG just started, those engineered Power Distributors are tempting and there are offering so many sizes.
I tell myself I really don’t need them, but that little voice it’s only 10 carrier jumps.

Yep I did it in and now back Sunday night truly on my way to Explorers Anchorage.

I thought just occurred to me, how much will it cost to have the PD transferred to me at Explorer’s Anchorage after the CG. Ouch

Just stopped in at Trifid Sector IR-W D1-52 Observation Post Epsilon Asteroid port. ~ 5000 lys
No combat missions but a bunch of on foot missions, combat, power restore, go get stuff missions.
May do some on foot stuff while am here. Do some R&R.

For myself my exploration alt has;
Sidewinder, Cobra mk III, DBX, Asp Explorer, Dolphin, Python, Phantom, Anaconda, T9, T6, Mandalay and Cobra mk V.
Exobio is what I wound up doing after Cocijo went boom, but before PP2.
Now of course there's colonisation...

I think that the transfer cost will be peanuts, since (IIRC) CG modules have "0 cr" value. Could be wrong though :)
Probably be 100cr the first time you transfer them.

As for

Yes, most days I decide to play Elite Dangerous.

No idea why, though its a shame that some of the rarest and hardest to get items in the game are worth next to nothing.
Its a 50,000ly round trip to get one of the items (Pod Tissue) and its only worth 125k and yet Pod Shell Tissue is worth 500k and can be found from gyre trees which are not far at all.

It would be great if the rare and harder to find items had a better value or use.

I have a glass case in the back of my FC with a very large white duck called "Howard" in it. (Not For Sale)

Tbh, although I still have vague plans to do some serious & lengthy exploration, I've noticed that my usual response so far to feeling the "what shall I do today in ED?" question coming on... has been to take a 12-month+ break from the game. (I've already had at least 3 of those breaks in my 6 short years of playing it.)

I do something totally different. I play intensively for a while and then get the itch to do something else. After a while I get another itch and scratch that. Eventually I return to the beginning. The circle of life/gaming.

I did a lot of station/settlement building for a few weeks. Played UA:Dreadnaughts for several weeks, and am now setting up to solo play (on a table top) Five Klicks from the Zone. Characters rolled up, game aids prepared, table cleared ready to start a campaign. I have a bunch of figures, buildings and other terrain ready. First time playing, so am giving it a go and see how things go.

I was a hard core VR player till Odyssey came out and the no VR on foot stuff turned me off to a 2 year break.
i started back on/off in 2023 and came back full time when Fdev started to show the game love again with the addition of the SCO drive.

When someone looks for excuses to play a game. Something is wrong.
When its done, its done. Do something else.
I think because so many players have invested so much time into Elites grind that they find it hard to let go.
Its like an abusive relationship.
