I for one, welcome our new giraffe overlords
If next pack turns out to be indeed a safari pack i don't have my hopes up for an interesting pack since i think stuff like second lion, massai giraffe, even possible second zebra and impala are all very very likely. I just hope we do get a bird. I really hope is the secretary or grey crowned crane (more the secretary than the crane tbh but i'd take either)
The giraffe and lions stand out to me as extremely recognizable zoo/animal icons, like they're in the "A" group if the animal kingdom was grouped into tiers. Having a second one of each is no problem for me as it would give me a choice or option for variety. But I wouldn't want a third. Honestly a third Rhino was almost too much for me, but the elephant is even more unnecessary.
I have the perfect safari pack:
- African forest elephant (literally best model of a living being ever created since the dawn of civilization)
- Masai giraffe
- Golden jackal
- Grevy's zebra
- Bat-eared fox
- Common eland
- Nile crocodile

Tbf and to deffend my self on this... i do think that the bear deserves to be in the game... but also not as a DLC animal. That said, if it were to come as a DLC animal i don't think it would be that terrible. Is not like other bears in the game fill the same niche as the ABB: sure you have grizzly but the bear offers you a much more common, more cheaper and versatile option for a NA that is a not a massive giant predator. It can climb, could come in tons of colomorphs, has a huge range and is a quintiessential northamerican animal. I would 100% prefer it if it is an anniversary animal, but i see the reasons why people want it and how it could make a good inclusion. None of that happens with the elephant.
The people crave the arabian oryx. We are 4 antelops away from glorious 20 antelopes

I do have kind of an obssesion of getting the "iconic" or "most famous" or "representative" animals from every region. So i wouldn't complain about the arabian oryx tbh. And it is why i don't like oddballs that much when they take away from the chance of getting more "iconic" animals that we still don't have (great white pelican, coati, mara, golden pheasant, mandarin duck, secreatry bird, grey crowned crane, etc)

i don't like the ABB much either, but honestly if it was added over the African leopard i would not have complained. It does have strong arguments to be added, unlike the elephant.
I did like the arguments of "it's not the same! subspecies vs species!!" in the comments. Like that makes getting a 9th bear any better lol
Same could be said about the American Flamingo
i already said it there, but the whole subspecies vs species is just one minor factor, i feel like appearence, niche and captive presence are bigger factors, which let's be honest, the ABB has something, while the elephant just doesn't.
I'd point out the massive and obvious difference between a notably distinct and unique antelope with no parallel in real life or in game, versus a subspecies of elephant with barely a single trait separating it from a subspecies we already have, but... well, if you can't see something that obvious, there's probably no way I can help you...

I for one could care less about what is or isn't added, because I know I will end up appreciating or using whatever is added. Just cuz I'm an animal nerd and know stuff that most casual people don't doesn't mean I can't appreciate an elephant or bighorn sheep every once in a while. And even so, I still am really looking forward to the other animals in this pack, like the Nilgai and Raccoon Dog cuz I think they're both really interesting and I want to build for them.

A Safari Pack should have an antelope species in my opinion. Probably it will be the Greater Kudu as it IS the currently most wished antelope and could fill the Nyala substitution. Impala would be also a possible as it is a well known antelope species. Personally I Hope for the Gerenuk due to its special appearance but I am Not sure If Frontier goes the extra mile to do it. All other antelope species are only outsiders to get a place within the Game for me now. A second Zebra or a second Giraffe seems extremely likely to me, too. But I really do not mind as both would look so gorgeous with the improvements Frontier made of the years with the animals. The Serval probably will Take the Cats place as it is probably the Last Missing Cat species which is more Common known to the general audience. I am also optimistic that WE could get the Grey Crowned Crane as it is Common, popular and not so hard to make.
