Sometimes it feels like the only thing that would please some of you would be an instant transfer of 50k cargo between a Trailblazer and your construction site.

But then we'd have complaints there is no gameplay involved.

I swear FDEV can't win here. Like ever.

Well for me the difference between the hoped >1.4k Cargo and the now ~1.2k cargo is the difference between buying two for my accounts and waiting it out. meh.
 
Assuming all cargo racks and 8E SCO for the other two I get this. Guess on 8E SCO for PC may be wide of the mark but using it on the others gives a similar gap between laden and unladen jump

It looks fine to me on that basis
If the shield is class 7 minimum I'd be going unshielded unless the mass lock factor is poor
 
the range on the cargo optimised build is similar to an E rated cutter with the same optional loadout
is this with E or A rated core internals?

I was really excited after the stream the other day when it appeared there were 2 size 8 and 2 size 7 of the optimized slots, giving a total of 1152 cargo capacity from only the size 7 and 8 slots with cargo racks.

Now that I know its only 1 of each and the cargo capacity using only the 4 largest slots is actually 192 less than that at 960 or 1.39 times my current T-9 at 688 I’m less enthused.

But I guess game balance wins out.

I would assume E rated but it might not be, without being shown. If the thrusters in this picture are E rated then it might get some respectable straight line speeds, if A then it might be a little faster than T9 but nothing to approach Cutter levels (I suppose that thing will/might always just remain the exception with those speeds it can achieve in real space, as a ship that size).

You should be able to fit a 6 - the hull mass is 1200t (same as the T-10) and class 6 shields have a maximum of 1350t.

Whether you'll get more than "slightly less expensive landing" out of that is hard to say - on the Type-10 a 6A Prismatic gives you 323 MJ, which is less than you get from a single 5D HRP, or a pair of 2Ds, so you might often be better going for a few (much smaller) HRPs and getting more cargo space for the same defence.

I think 'defence' is a loose term here.
My frag Corsair would 1-shot a PCII in that configuration, as it is slow & huge, I doubt a single pellet would miss.
If the armour has been well engineered, along with the HRPs, 2 shots. So a single pass regardless.

This is the first of the new SCO ships that I wont get on early access. I am disappointed with the cargo capacity of this ship, so I wont be buying ARX to get it on early access. I'll wait for the 'buy with credits option' instead as the ship doesn't meet my hopes or expectations as it is currently configured.:(

This is the first of the new SCO ships that I wont get on early access. I am disappointed with the cargo capacity of this ship, so I wont be buying ARX to get it on early access. I'll wait for the 'buy with credits option' instead as the ship doesn't meet my hopes or expectations as it is currently configured.:(
personally i think its in the sweetspot of cargo capacity without being too OP
over 1kt with a shield, FSD booster and assist is plenty for me

As you know, I fly pretty much only in Open and based on what I know so far, I’m very concerned about having enough “extra” cargo space and enough defense to get to my destination with an “encounter” or 3 along the way.

Maybe I should finally unlock the cutter rather than purchase a PC II??? I’ll have to do some a bunch of maths before I decide…

I dont see how it can be OP. The Clipper is just a skin for a quality of life utility. I would imagine that the most likely use for this type of ship is to move cargo from a station to a Carrier, then from a Carrier to to a construction site. How is that overpowering anyone else's game if the option is open to everyone?

My Corsair can deliver 2,200 DPS (I'm sure good players could design even better) so the PCII would need to be very well hardened to survive one hostile encounter, let alone 3

It is worth it to get rank for the Cutter. It is an awful ship to fly, and Imperial to boot, but it does tank up well, is fast and can still carry a reasonable amount of cargo when optimised for survival.

If it had been anywhere near 2K payload the P2W brigade would have been in meltdown, this is a sensible ship.
