DLC21 Speculation

Something I thought of
Of all the animals the elephant was the only southeast Asian animal
The elephant slot we all seem to be on the same page was a wasted slot
I thought alot on cattle of Asia and a cattle would have been nice (I know it means 3 bovine!)
gaur would be too India leaning (I still way them)
Benteng perfect
Anoa perfect
Tamaraw perfect although an unpopular
Yaks perfect as a Himalayas rep
How does everyone feel about a new cow?
The Anoa is cool, but we did get the Nilgai who's similar to thecows of SEA, so I et why they didn't want that.

Aside from the lack of birds or reptiles, I think I'm less annoyed by the elephants than I lack by the imbalance in geographic representation. I wouldn't remove any of the South Asian species, but we got a lot of them and if we don't count the honey badger who's a bit of a special case we don't have anything from West and Central Asia. We also lack species spanning several parts of Asia, which birds could have been good at.

Theory: Looking at the building pieces of the last 3 packs they ALL scream celebration and fiesta. I still think Zoo Keeper was meant to be the last DLC but prior to release they changed their plans, scrapped a few pieces to put it into other packs (those americas iron pieces scream classic for example). And Zookeepers was probably supposed to have a few more animals as well. They were also hold back for the packs after zoo keepers and those new packs were filled with clones / very easy to make animals.

Important to note that the elephant is very clearly a clone, and switching it for a pheasant would take a significant amount more dev work, which is unrealistic (although not unreasonable) to expect given DLC in the past. Personally, Asiatic Lion would have been a far superior choice for a clone slot, particularly given the existing Lion's outdated graphics. Other clones I would have liked would be a Civet, a Warty Pig, any number of monkeys.

The biggest disappointment for me is that they didn't add a deep diving animation for the Elephants when adding the Bornean. Such a missed opportunity to "justify" its addition by improving the animations for it and the other 2 Elephants.
I think the qoukka and water monitor are good indicators that even if they added something new, deep diving in this case, to a new animal it doesnt necessarily mean that they are adding it to similar, older animals aswell.
Personally i cant say im to bummed out about them skipping it, as you would need a ludacris amount of space to actually make them deep dive in game

I agree that the zookeepers might very well have been intended to be the final dlc as the miscellaneous animals and the party theme was a goodbye sign.

A while back, I thought of a cool farewell pack. World’s fair dlc. I thought of the idea from anno 1800. New vendors or re use Pc vendors with food types from around the world. Perhaps a gazebo or stage where music can be played. A good amount of animals and all in all a way of saying The End.

Scenery: ribbons, advertisement boards, posters, new windows, archways, confetti
Vendors: can’t decide which would be best
Animals
Elk, ABB
Mara, coati
Musk ox, Capercaille
Gelada, Secretary bird
Golden jackal, gaur
Perentie, southern fur seal
WTE koi pond

Since there is still room for more birds (non-flying), they could do a pack:

I mean they do fly, but mostly move on the ground:

  • Secretary Bird
  • the rest of the flamingo species
  • the rest of the penguin species
  • lesser rhea
  • the other 2 species of cassowaries
  • more swan breeds/species
  • there are many species of birds that could be exhibit animals (This could include ducks. They could add a pond in the walk-through exhibit.)

I think the same! All previous dlc looked very party, celebration...my girl said me the same when I showed the trailers asking why is the same theme? Why there is no mountain theme.
Also other good question for PZ2 is: Which theme buildings will be there?

I agree we need more birds, and with the current state of things you are probably right that we will possibly just get more clones of birds if we are to get any, but really i want more unique type of birds: storks, ibises, pheasants, ducks, pelicans, spoonbills, etc. All of those can also work as habitat animals. If the option is another flamingo vs no bird, i rather get none then.

And please, please, please. I need people to stop suggesting ducks or pheasants for wte. They are perfectly fine options for habitat animals. No need to restrict them like that and demote them to glorified animatronics. We have swans and peafowls as habitat species after all.

All old ones for PZ2 for sure. They learned it the hard way with PC2. At the very least those from the base game.

Please….. Frontier….. I know you won’t add birds, but please …… more educational items. New signs….. new education stations….. antlers….. bones….. statues

Please, Frontier…… I’m in a critical condition here

I forgot to mention cranes. They could also add storks since they are similar in build as cranes.

I also forgot to mention the most ask for one: Shoebill.

was doing some math to figure out how many animals to expect in an all exhibit animal pack and the results are intriguing. We all talk about the scenery offsetting the work of the exhibit animal in the new pack designs but if you average out the numbers an exhibit animal is worth about 75 pieces but 3 habitat are about 200 so theoretically an exhibit animal costs about the same if not more than a habitat animal.

I'm not sure about that.
I don't think the average PZ player feel as attached to the specific pieces or themes themselves, as PC players do.

Some themes can't be avoided like Africa, yet those pieces are far from the core of every players builds. You could easily cut away big chunks of it and replace with more versatile pieces, even if the total number of pieces get smaller, I think people would be more satisfied with it, as long as it still feels like an African set.

As long as we keep the most important parts and what is new is better than what we had, I think it could be accepted by most.

Would people really miss something like the New World Theme?
