Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

Where do they pull these facts from?

Edit: It's worth mentioning that Stanton as a whole was designed with 50 players in mind

Just apply some logic, with a common shared mega-shard like CIG plan, that means, taking an average of 50 players per system, SC in its current state is designed for 100 players (max). At 100 systems it would be designed for 5000 players.

They really just love making stuff up.

Presume that is a reference to the original servers cap which was at around 50 if memory serves. Note that server meshing has not improved much on this, on an average players per server basis, within a shard.

Clipped at 8:42 in case the link does not work:

Excelent interview with CIG head of tech and tools Sean Tracy, where you will find him saying gems like:

We are [SC is] out, right? You guys are playing it right now.
He is not wrong there!

Or

When you look at shipped games in this gen even in the last year let's say or so [SC is] very much on par. I'm not talking about necessarily bug-free experience or hitching and things like that…
Translation: SC is utterly broken but other than that, yeah, on par.

😄

Outsourcing CitzenCon. Smart move. Big fan of the description
""Quantum Vegas 2955" is the immersive community led event that serves as a gathering point for members of the Star Citizen gaming community and special guests from Cloud Imperium Games."
Going to check out the video later.
What Star Citizen needs are more content creators /s

Confirmation that the folks are NOT testing an alpha. It's out, it's released. They've been playing it. Albeit, not to be judged against other released games in terms of bugs, gameplay, content, stability, or any other measure than 'teknoligi' (and maybe not that either if supposed to be working).

Gaslighting? Cognitive dissonance? Barefaced dreams.txt?

Gaslighting. Clear case imo.

SC is a released product, it is just a very bad and broken one. That is it. 🤷‍♂️

CIG is using and abusing terms such as “alpha” or “crowdfund” in order to bamboozle the market so we do not treat SC like the already released product it is.

Very true...Ci~G have been doing this for almost as long as you've been saying it

Some bonus bits from that Sean Tracy fan-terview...

Source: https://youtu.be/GWFC4TXOOv0?si=tqP4tINokvcYLjnd

[9m40s] CR emails about new tech he'd like to have added (Like some 'obscure GDC presentation' about something 'real fancy, nice, and hard' he's watched)
+
[12m30s] You're not going to be able to 'hide' good new tech from CR. He 'kicks open the door and goes Nanite' (But wouldn't want it copied, would want it custom tailored for SC etc).

[10m50s] Sees Unreal and Unity as their competitors. Wants to give their devs an engine and tools that are as good as theirs [ 😁 ]

[14m30s] Doesn't see them licensing tech. Agreements, plus they're not set up to support clients

[19m30s] They need to work on validation, making sure things aren't getting rebroken etc.

[23m] Big bit on him hoping ToW comes after SQ42 :D [same as that bar citizen info]

[35m] Doing some work on getting an LLM to run off the CPU

[39m] Working on a single planet for Planet Tech v5.
