New (new) ship teased - Type-11 Prospector

What exactly defines a "mining" ship? What makes a ship a mining ship in comparision to any old multipurpose one? Every ship with enough optionals and possibly a big enough distro for the lasers is a mining ship, isn't it?
For me, it has to have great visibility, excellent positioning thrusters to hold position on a wobbly roid, enough hard points to allow good defense and mining lasers, super good capacitor and doesn't get hot.
Internal racks should be sized for mining without a lot of wasted space.
Maybe if it's a dedicated miner allow it to use more than one mining limpet controller...
Absolutely no crap hanging out front like the T-8, even with its crappie capacitor and weak hard points those arms are pain and block vision.
YMMV...

Depends on the type of mining, I guess.

If it's intended for DC mining then it needs to be similar to a KM2.
If it's intended for laser-mining then it needs to be more like a T10.

In either case, as you say, it also needs to have a Lakon cockpit great visibility, a bunch of medium hardpoints for mining lasers and at least a couple of large and a couple of small hardpoints for defensive weapons.

For deep core mining the T-8 really does make a really good miner. You have to fly slightly above the asteroid plain or lift the nose up slightly when pinging.
The best ship for laser right now is the Corsair IMHO. It has speed, firepower and agility. It only lacks in visibility.

Too dang slow with the thrusters and issue with hitting limpets. This has been my main miner for a long time, just needs better hardpoint locations and thrusters. I fitted out a Corsair as a miner, blows everything else out of the water, slap a lakon cockpit on it and done.

i love my old core miner which i also still use, my first AspEx 'Morris Minor'

AspX is a hugely under-rated mining ship.
64t of cargo capacity and enough slots and hardpoints for all the mining tools and a couple of small defensive weapons (enough to get rid of annoying Eagles and Adders).
I have 2 of them, which I just transfer around whenever I find a likely mining spot, to check it out before I fetch my T10 (for laser mining) or Krait (for DC mining).

Might sound a bit superficial but, for me, it's crucial that any new mining ship has suitable paint jobs available... specifically, Turbulence Yellow.

In general, I think FDev have overlooked how important paint is with the new ships.
Sure, they've got some "interesting" paint available for them but I get the impression a lot of people like to colour-coordinate their fleets and we can't properly integrate the new ships into our fleets until they start providing some of the existing paint for the new ships.

This is why i love it, i take my time, its relaxing, i dont tend to have any issues with limpets.
I just enjoy the view, i love my old core miner which i also still use, my first AspEx 'Morris Minor'

I mean slow as when to try to thrust up and down, left and right, it takes forever to move and stop,. The response is very slow.

I think if you look more closely at the front area, we're making the headlights out to be structure where none exists. I think it might actually go further forward, hidden behind the rock.

FD have shown with the new ships they are now willing to experiment with new stuff for new ships, some of which gets backported to older ships (SCO drives, PC's increased cargo capacity slots and the new CG cargo slots).
Sorry, I don't understand, but where else can class D cargo racks be used?

I think everybody is assuming we are looking at the bottom of the ship. Perhaps we are looking at the roof of the ship?
