Latest CG, the clearest example of P2W in ED to date?

They need to be better to sell. They don't need to be better to be accepted and ideally, they should be somewhat balanced with existing ships and capabilities, otherwise you end up with power creep - then what happens is either the devs make the game easier by adding more powerful ships or they increase the difficulty leaving older ships in the lurch - ships we (in general) spent money on perhaps with paintjobs and ship kits as well as the investment in engineering and outfitting.

I'm quite surprised all the core systems on the PC2 are so capable.

I mean, even if they'd shrunk the PP and PD by one size they could have created a bit of a dilemma for players.
Fit 8A thrusters and you'll have to compromise of the shield and/or weapons.
Fit 8D thrusters and you can have a powerful shield or decent weapons.
Etc.

I guess it's nice that they aren't pre-nerfing the new ships but it does create a situation where older ships (and, by extension, the work dev's put into creating those ships as well as the effort player put into outfitting them) are now redundant, and that's kind of sad.

True enough. Most builds of the Panther could perfectly run on a size 7 plant. In fact the build I am planning will have an armoured 8A plant and power to spare. Meanwhile the Beluga for example would desperately need that size 7 plant.

Either way, it's obviously wrong, since we already need 2,500t to get into the top 75% so clearly 25% of players haven't simply delivered 1t.
No I mean the fact that this poster thinks that a set of rankings decided by points where you are rewarded for competing against other players is 'not a competition'

I can't tell if this is a wind up or not
Why would it be a wind up? If you have a Cutter/T9, it will take you at absolute most about three hours of hauling to stay comfortably in the top 75% for the length of the CG. If you can't find the time to do that over the course of an entire month, then you're either so busy that I'm not sure why you play the game at all or you just can't be bothered.

What I am saying (and I don't know why I keep having to say it because it should be totally obvious) is that it's a TASK, not a COMPETITION - haul N arbitrary amount of goods. Yes, N will grow depending on the amount of players involved and how much they haul, so sure, it's competitive in that sense, but it's not going to increase in any significant way that will make achieving it more difficult. Nor are you being ranked against anyone unless you're trying to get into the top 10, and that's purely for bragging rights. It's can you be bothered to spend a couple of hours hauling? It's not the Olympics.

You said 'it's not a competition'

1.There is a scoreboard
2.You are ranked by your performance compared to other players
3.You get rewards if you outperform them
4.Their rewards diminish depending on how well you do
5.There is a scoreboard
6.The top performing players get the most money
7.There is a scoreboard

It's not a scoreboard. It's a line.The rest is frippery.

What's this then champ?
In what way is this 'not a competition'?

I agree that it doesn't look good. But at least at some point Panther will become available to all commanders for credits.
What I really have a problem with is the fact that Panther Clipper actually made Type-9 completely obsolete. Instead of adding options to choose from and ship variety, they practically limit them. Now everyone will be flying PCs.

I don’t see that as a bad thing. T9 is significantly cheaper to buy and outfit so new players will fly that as they did before if they didn’t have the rank for a cutter.

Nobody routinely flies all of the ships in the game, some have always been more useless than others.
