Oh yes. I was so incredibly bad at the game, and because I was playing on a legitimate backup copy of the game so no manual, trying to figure out gameplay or even just the keybinds were a challenge on its own but that kind of trial and error was a big part of gaming at the time for me. I never really got past doing a few trade runs as I got frustrated or bored each time and eventually moved on, but the game's concept fascinated me and made me buy ED on launch without even reading any reviews.Same here.
Do you remember the funny thing, when we started on C64, The Docking Computer was the object of desire - "when will I ever make enough credits to purchase one?" - but by the time you could buy one, you didn't need it any more![]()
Oh right. Station magic. It has to be jank size because station magic.. MMMhmm.. Alrighty then.In order to keep the space station interior pressurized, they can't keep a huge docking slot open. The docking slot has a field in place to keep atmosphere in, and I presume there are limits to how big they can make it while still keeping the field in place.
Of course, you are free to believe what you want, but if atmospheric fields were all-powerful and there were no limitation to them, why can't people encapsulate entire planets in the fields and hey presto! Atmospheric planet?Oh right. Station magic. It has to be jank size because station magic.. MMMhmm.. Alrighty then.
yeah, if that universe cant squeeze a few megawatts and meters of metal to make space station entrance traffic less stupid, then that universe probably deserves to decay and die off.Of course, you are free to believe what you want, but if atmospheric fields were all-powerful and there were no limitation to them, why can't people encapsulate entire planets in the fields and hey presto! There are limitations to what can be done with technology in the Elite universe.

Second page, and you have not specified the original issue you are having with existing slot.Don't care how old or original the design is. It's current implementation in the game is garbage. The CG and Starlace thing are just another iteration of the same derpfest caused by the mailslot overly fickle design.
Please. Star Citizen HAS no design, that's the problem.Defending flawed implementations and worshiping "intended design" is how Star Citizen remains a jankfest even though it has more players.
Mmm, this really does sound like a you problem. There are many things i like about Elite. The clownfest and fundamental flaws of the current mailslot implementation is not one of those things.
As far as how magnificent the game is or is not or how long it will stay, there was a lot of discussion regarding stagnation and player onboarding until some "oh no" big changes were made. Oh and remember the financial difficulty that nearly vanished when there was a 'redesign' for monetization? Yeah. whatever.
The evidence is strong. Fixing the stupid fickle mailslot situation would improve the games image, reduce player annoyances, reduce toxic player opportunity and help onboarding. PERIOD. It's OBVIOUSLY an issue. Why defend a fickle and garbage implementation when it OBVIOULY needs adjustment and fixed or redesigned.

You think that your vessel is too big for it? Or you can't aim it?
Because of "rotational correction"Scrapes and glitches with autodock happen
I remember playing on a 48K Spectrum where the technique that mostly worked for me was to line up on the centre line of the slot and then hit boost just before the slot rotated to line up with the ship get it right and I docked get it wrong and I was back to the previous save, but it was still likely to go better than trying to match rotation.Same here.

Because George Pal was unavailable?Well it was Kubrick. Why do you think NASA hired him to fake the moon landing? * duck and cover *
That's a good idea, but make the egress slot a boost tunnel like Battlestar Galactica!I personally think there should be an exgress mailslot on the other side. One in, one out, traffic control shoots you if you go out the in slot, or in the out slot, and new players come on here and complain about how they can't tell which one is in and which one is out until the station is already killing them, and veteran players say we're not going to improve it anymore we did it once that's enough change for the next 40 years

A mailslot and a yeetslot.

Because of "rotational correction"Station rotates and ships has different shape than rectangle (which is used for computing I guess).
So it is expected.
