Orbital lines - a full and frank discussion

Okay, for a long time many of us have been asking for the option to remove or reduce orbital lines (perhaps options to do both).
-
See me on my journey into the Cosmos, gazing in awe at the shine of distant stars through the rocky rings of a gracious gas giant.
-
The explorer's heart, thumping with anticipation; adventurer, slave to the whims of whatever beauty the Universe can throw at me but.. ah...

-
Lines. Lines everywhere. Blessed blue & yellow lines.
-
Now, I love this game. I think it's absolutely fantastic. I'm lost in my adventures. But these lines. Please FD. Please let us turn off the lines.

Yes I whole heartily agree with you here, there should be an option for dimming/removing such unnecessary lines. Although I can understand why they are there and that they can be helpful for some players, for me they spoil the grand vista of space.

Couldn't agree more. I know you might need to know the orbits from time to time, but you really want to look out the cockpit and pretend you're looking at the galaxy. The lines just remind me its a game, which breaks immersion. Just a simple toggle on and off would be great.

Allow the option to eliminate the orbital lines. Also, please, an option to reduce/eliminate space dust. It's like flying in a snow storm.

Yeah, it's been raised many times and I don't think you'll find any disagreement with the idea of a toggle to optionally turn the orbital lines on or off at will in-game.

It is a HUD, after all.

From what I remember one of the devs said during the beta 2 that the whole supercruise hud is a placeholder. I hope they will improve it or add on/off option one day.

Yes I agree, let them be hide'able. I've been searching for the setting/key to turn them off, but nope. They really obscure the sight of the great cosmos.

Yes, this would be a nice feature. Superb for nav purposes and getting a sense of scale and distance, eye-bleeding for just pure visual intake of space. Ofc there can't be too many ways to optionalize this. I'd like an All-Off, Orbitals Only, Gravity Only toggle setup at the least.

Yeah, I've said this multiple times.
I really don't understand why they are there....what do they add to the game that we would miss out on, should they be removed?

make them 80% transparency / glow / a little AA, Bloom

and dim lines behind planets more. give them 3d information pls.

and remove them on button press.

maybe make a little animation where the guy gets up from the seat / leans forward to the windows and presses his face against it: HUD free, ship free Screenshot vision.

Completely agree. You end up focussing on the lines rather than the actual environment. It's like a big red blot in the middle of a Renoir.

I can appreciate the orbits. But what are the blue circles adding?
If I could, I would keep the orange lines and switch off the blue ones.

there should be an option to turn all HUD/orbital lines etc off for screenshot purposes, there's absolutely no reason not to do this. they've created a beautiful world why not let people show it off?
