Dragon Age inquisition

Has anyone played this game?

It looks like it could be my cup of tea genre-wise, but I have never played any of these.

I will be getting my preorder at the end of the week I hope. I loved DragonAge: Origins - it has a tons of stuff to do, nice story and very good characters. DA In from what I heard is little bit different, and has a more open world.

Not played it yet (doesn't come out here till Friday) but played and enjoyed the previous 2 and saw a live stream on twitch the other day, looks really good. The last two had great stories and characters like most Bioware games, Mass Effect and KoTOR being huge faves of mine, Mass Effect 1-3 in particular.

I won't be purchasing it. Mainly because I prefer science-fiction settings, but also because Bioware games tend to feel very plastic, soulless and politically correct to me.

ok forget multiplayer for now, I got my pre ordered game few hours ago and I played some of it.
I was about to write a whole block of text ranting about how the new DA is wrong, but there is no point. Its just bad. Really bad if you played previous DA games.
DA Origins is far better and more responsive and enjoyable. So to the OP - buy the old Dragon Age game first, it's really cheap now and you will get more fun with it.

wait for sale - DA Inquisition has a nice graphics but it's a prime example that graphics does not make a game. It's awful so far for me - bare in mind I only played very beginning. I will play the game more, and to the end so I can give honest opinion, but so far it was pretty bad. With typical EA dumped down mechanics.

Thanks for the heads up, just popped over on metacritic and its got a 5.4 user score... (not that that is the be all and end all, but it's a pointer)

Shocking, I truly am gutted.

New console players will love it I`m sure - but for me who put tons of hours in DA origins - the new fancy Frostbite engine wont cut it. OK rant over, let's hear what others have to say about it, I`am just bitter as hell - I was all about new DA game today, got my beer, got my friend with me, and then - poop. :)

I don't know why I am surprised tbh, from reading the meta reviews it's typical EA.

I put a fair few hours into the first, and after the second was hoping - nay praying - it was back on course. It certainly looked it.

I was gonna go get it at the weekend. Oh, well. Maybe I'll stick it on a Xmas list. ;)

Well I'm heading back into Tevinter tonight to continue either with a Male Qunari Mage or my Female Elf Rogue Archer. I have played multiple playthroughs of Dragon Age Origins and loved it, as for Dragon Age 2 I have forced myself to play through it twice and loved bits but not all of it. My opinion is slightly different to other 'experts' on the quality of DA: Inquisition it's very impressive so far, beautiful to look at, the music hits the right spots the action is smooth and spectacular where it needs to be although it can get somewhat OTT in places but I will forgive it because well Magic and Dragons and stuff.

The Tactical screen used to such great effect in the first DA is back although a bit unwieldy this time around maybe this may change with patches? Some Dodgy Hairstyles and Facial hair in this one but overall the depth seems to be back in bucket-loads and I can buy into this a lot more easily compared to DA 2. As for the main protagonist well I spent 2 hours at it and I feel a real connection to my two main characters (which was lacking in the DA 2 game) and I am glad to see some old characters return and other new faces I can see myself warming to soon enough.

The sheer scale of this iteration of DA is daunting not just in size but it seems that the story arcs and decisions will create very different outcomes compared with the 2nd DA and I can't wait to get my teeth back into it which I will now do while ED is patching up.

I haven't touched Multi-player as yet so I can't comment on it but with 80 to 100 hours of the single-player campaign to get through I may leave it for a while until I'm finished the sumptuous starter up first on the Gaming menu.

I would advise playing through DA Origins first to anyone who hasn't experienced 1 or 2 in order to get into the lore and have some sense of the motivations behind the characters and settings and by the time your ready to jump into DA Inquisition it may have dropped in price but I don't know if that will be guaranteed to happen at least for the first year because this is quality workmanship in my humble opinion, a lot of love and graft went into this game and after the fumble that was DA2 I expect the franchise to grow from here.

I might be too harsh about the gameplay- since the Elite wont recognize my throttle today I will play some more DA with the better attitude towards the game :)

all right - the good:
-lots of stuff to do as it should be in DA game,
-pretty decent characters, and some old friends from Origins showed up
-as I said the game looks nice and runs well for me, the locations feels more open and are pretty big

bad:
-the combat is awful, tactical view is useless time because of a crazy camera controls, also you can`t zoom out far away to see the battlefield. Its just painful to fight in this game.
-some dumped down mechanics, less potions, no crafting.
-the menus and UI are awful, unintuitive and wont work well with my mouse for some reason. And are just ugly, no design at all, feels like alpha test - lazy job here devs!

overall I dont have much fun so far :(

Yea, and I`m perfectly fine with ppl enjoying the game :)

The more I play it, the more I get a impression that i'm playing offline mmo project. Same as with Kingdom of Amalur, only that Amalur has a sweet combat.

Same here with regards to people not enjoying it.

Maybe because I am am only dipping into it in spurts explains why I have not gotten bored yet or maybe I'm just easily impressed ;)

Saying that I'm not blind to it's faults by any measure and I can see it's not as complex story wise now that I have played a bit more I am still waiting for some more interesting quests and moral dilemma's that I am assured by others do exist ... even though I am beginning to doubt it I am still enjoying the game for example combat for me isn't as bad as I am being told it is by some maybe that's a personal thing and maybe it's because I am using a 360 controller and it was maybe designed around this. Though I still get the point about the Tactics view being a bit naff it is workable but nowhere near as handy as DA Origins.

As I open more of the gameplay regarding the War Table and Shard collection for which I have not yet discovered the use of I am still hopeful of more depth. Again I only have time for maybe 1 or 2 hours gametime every other day and I have to spread this throughout Elite, DA: Inquisition, Alien Isolation, Witcher 2, one I have not even started yet Shadow of Morgor and some others which escape my mind.

I think it's time for me to focus on one until the 16th of December at least :)
