Request: Cobra Wireframe Paintjob another sell window ?

But its real "value" is simply its nostalgia value, not its economic cost (they can't be resold after all, so it's hardly a "collector's item" is it?); it's not "devalued" by other old-timers displaying it.. you just want a degree of exclusivity by denying it to others who place similar value on it as you, and that's the definition of "unfair"...

It's as much a privilege of being in the right place at the right time, as the cost issue - per the OP. Besides, right now, the only ship i've tried in ED is the sidewinder, so i couldn't even use a Cobra-specific paint job. Still, as an old timer i think wirerame paintjobs should be available to anyone with similar nostalgia pangs.. and remember, most players are yet to arrive here. Many of them will likewise be veterans. The rest won't know the meaning of wireframes or care one jot, but old-skoolers will feel they're being punished for missing the opportunity..

they shouldn't but they probably will, FD has no shame, they just keep milking. those stupid flags are back. they will probably wait till the sale is over for the wireframe though, it was pricey, there would be massive backlash if they sold it for £1-2 now.

They could add wireframes as an in-game award... Reach elite... you get a free wireframe skin for all your ships :D
But then I would feel dirty having bought the cobra one...(impersonating an elite rank) so perhaps something else for that ship :p

Be that as it may, it was booked as limited edition, it should remain so. Once a limited edition is sold out, it should not be reproduced. That's it's value, esthetics. He who hesitates is lost.

I do not think it should come back. I missed out on Kickstarter rewards and the Expansion pass but I deal with it. They could do versions for the other ships though.

I'd hope not. Limited Edition should be just that. There'll undoubtedly be wireframe skins for other craft, might just have to make do with one of those?

Which reminds me... Must remember to get my bling bling chrome Viper skin!

im with Elan on this, Limited Edition should be just that. I would have been a little disappointed on missing this one but it should remain limited. though I would expect to see it again on the 16th December 2015.

I certainly hope not, that again would remove the "limited edition" from it. It should remain as is, limited.

The only reason I bought the 30th Anniversary skin was because it was the last day and it would not be available again. I didn't really have the spare money but I got it anyway, if it was to appear again I would be very annoyed and I'd never buy another skin.

There is a lot of wireframe angst going on here. FD have not given any indication that they will bring back any withdrawn paint jobs.

It'd be devalued if they brought it back, it should remain as is, limited, a collectors item.
What is the "value" of any ED paintjob after purchase? How is it a collector's item?

Exactly 0 is what anyone would get for it today on the open market. No collector can get it, it's not transferable. So its only value is nostalgia.

Yeah I was happy they brought back the Limited Edition Flag Paint Jobs as I missed those the first time around. I do understand the people who are upset about them coming back. I have no doubt that we will see the wireframe again, but if not, well I got mine and I like it, more for the stealthy ninja aspect.

I think maybe another release isn't too unreasonable.. for the 40th Anniversary, or maybe a wire frame Viper instead? That would look mean :D

The value is in the having, what it represents. If everyone had it, it would be ordinary, run of the mill. The fact that it is no longer available, and some of the population has it, give it it's value, it doesn't have to be monetary value to have value.

Yes, let's redefine the dictionary to make a word mean what we want, ' tis the Frontier way.

Which is exactly why folks should not be surprised if FD decide to sell a limited-edition item > once. Theirs is a profit-motive, not a smug-exclusivity one.

Actually, it's not the Frontier way, it's the human way. Let me ask you this, why do you want it so badly? Of what value does it have for you?

And no, not smug-exclusivity, wisdom to buy it before it was no longer available.

ah screw it .. if its that much of a "idealistic" approach then i dont want it anymore. Posing was not my intention anyway , just enjoying its beauty and not is rarity

At the time I thought the price was actually rather rude (got the hump) and said I wouldn't buy it.... I then did a few days later because it was 'Limited' and wanted it.
.
Part of the reason I got the hump was that it was overly expensive and knew everyone would want it despite the fact it was MASSIVLY over priced. Knowing I was exploited like that does line me up into to getting in a y if they sell it again. But it is obvious many people missed the opportunity to buy it back then that would want it now. Therefore, so long as it is not <£10 and is only sold for short and infrequent periods of time, I'll still consider it limited edition and not be annoyed.

None. My wisdom is not to waste so much on such a trifle.

I bought the Wireframe painjob because it made me happy and nostalgic and I thought it was cool. But, speaking as an artist, I have to say that "Limited Edition" means a specific thing. If you're only selling so many, then you should only sell so many. I paid ten quid for a bitmap I could have made myself in under an hour, including time for the UV unwrap. I did it because as a graduate of the Class of 84, the 30th Anniversary was special to me, and I wanted to honour it.

I don't see this as a huge bone of contention, really - but if another wireframe paintjob were released for the Cobra, I would feel a certain level of artistic integrity had been snubbed. There are far worse injustices in the world, however.

Digital goods cant be limited by the number available to be sold. They can only be limited artificially by not making them available year round, 24/7. So selling certain paint jobs only during certain periods of the year makes those paint jobs limited.

That everyone thought that limited meant only now and not at some later point in the future means that there was some poor communication on the side of FD.

Its all about perceived value.
Just as the gold viper paint costs more then another viper paint.

Pffrrrt. I saw the Face of Ultimate Evil a few years back. I was researching social media games, and was looking at Farmville. It was late October, so there were all manner of Halloween tat to buy for one's farm. Pumpkins. Bats. The ilk.

First of november, these items were "on clearance sale" at half price.

Only a Sith could deal in half-price digital goods clearances.
