Make me a believer!

Its ironic but all the neg posts are the reason they never used a publishing company

Elite is designed for those who want to play Elite its as simple as that

Would you define this game an MMO?

M = Massive
M = Multiplayer
O = Online

Yes.

But Elite Dangerous is breaking new ground just like the original Elite did when it was first released.

Back then if a game didn't have 'three lives' and a bonus life at 10,000 points the games industry didn't want to know about it. Elite came along and broke the mold.

And now, it is going to do it again. This is an MMO, but not one like all the others that are out there. This will be a new experience and format for the MMO world.

You don't have to have the Clan/Guild Systems, Crafting or 'Add a Fire Gem' to make a weapon more powerful.

This is a game from a company that is thinking outside of the box and I fully back them in their project.

I wouldn't by this game if your interest is in MMORPG but not space flight and astronomy.

However if you have great interest is in space flight and astronomy, then I would highly recommend you buy this.

It is a scientist's game.

You haven't seen anyone? You sure your playing the 'open' game I see hundreds of players around the start systems. Sometimes so many I have to queue to dock. Where did you start?

I started near Erevate. I've tried to get to Sol but I couldn't get in. I hang out near my starting area, and haven't been much more than about 50Ly away in ether direction. I always play in open mode assuming it would be a multiplayer game, but I was sorely disappointed.

The only advice I can give is that personally, I don't play it as an MMO. I treat it as a predominately single-player game with the possibility of running into other players out there.

So far the most meaningful player interactions I've had were running into a pirate shaking down Sol tourists and sharing information about trade routes and good mining spots with a real-world friend.

One where you are playing with others, but don't have to interact with them, one where grouping is mostly impossible, one where speaking with others is a chore... ground breaking.

i say go ahead and buy it without really knowing what it is, but expect it to be something else. we always need another hate thread complaining about how this wasnt EVE or warcRaft and FD defrauded them.

Hahaha, Indeed.

So many Muppets have done just this.... I would say we have an entire cast by now :)

But I digress. I want someone to convince me of the good and the bad (since there is no such thing as perfection) of why I should pre-order this game. I have no previous experience of Elite games and not a real fan of "hardcore rules", but do love PvP. And the PvE exploration sounds real exciting.

This may sound a bit rude but why should we be the ones to convince you to pre-order a game. You have played over 20 mmos so you should be aware by now how the games, their forums, trailers and demos work. Look up Elite Dangerous on Youtube, there are bound to be plenty of videos showing you game play.

Bwahahhaha.... ha

I've heard some pretty excuses by fanbois on these forums but this takes the cake.

We're gonna redefine what MMO's are by having no groups, no tools to effectively chat to your group, no tools to find your group, gonna split you light years apart when you start hopefully in the same instance AND limit players to 32 in an instance.

Yup, groundbreaking.

Salute sir!

I apologize for not understanding why you are even in this game, and posting on these forums, if this game so disappoints you. Could you please just go away seeing as you are about .0001 percent of the population that thinks this was? We really do have a good community here sir. I am sorry that you find this game unplayable. I am sure, with all the work that FD does, you may find it enjoyable in the future.
As to the OP: Sir, as someone else has said, with all your experience, you should be able to make up your own mind whether this game is for you or not.. Unless you are just a troll. I sincerely hope that you find the reason to buy this game. If not, then try back in the future. At some point I am sure you will find your answer.

SALUTE! And cya in the stars!

I've been playing for about two weeks and haven't found another person yet.

That's because the PvEers are generally playing solo or in a private group like Mobius.

But don't worry, because we have it on good authority from a PvPer in another thread that PvP will be highly successful and PvE will die, and open will be awash with PvPers pew-pewing at each other.

"Plays like a sim on hardcore"........lol. What kind of sims are you playing? The only thing that is sim like is the galaxy. The rest is arcade unless you fly without flight assist. Personally, I've never played a hardcore sim where you pushed launch and the next second you were flying along without a care in the world other than trying to figure out the lame galaxy map...lol.

The game is pretty. It has potential, but it's not a hardcore sim by any stretch of the imagination and probably not designed to appeal to the general masses. It's a slow paced, look at the sights, earn a few credits, buy a new ship, earn some credits, look at the sights game. Which is fine as long as that's what you're looking for.

There is an honest answer for you from someone who loves space games and "real sims". Just my 2 cents.

I said the ships are easy to fly if you read my post properly. The locked 1st person is often the 'hardcore' or 'realism' mode on sims like Il2. I've played heavy sims all my life and this game is much nearer a sim than an MMO or simple arcade game. You sure you've played this game?

If you like the idea of combat where you're in the commanders seat on the tail of your foe in a do or die dance, requiring skill and tenacity and a well equipped upgraded ship, then yes. You will love elite dangerous.

Welcome to the new ara in the next epic space sequel.

Shok.

Ticket it then as players are in that region. I find players hundreds of light years away in the Empire area. You know what a player looks like on the radar I assume? There again your next post convinces me your just trololol on the game anyhow.

Are you sure you're playing the same game as the rest of us?

How would he know what speaking to others is like he stated he had never seen another player. Trololol...

I agree

If you like PVP this game is certainly not for you. Though it's allowed, I've been playing for about two weeks and haven't found another person yet. The forums are full of complaints about when players get killed they call it griefing and rant like children about how they had their toys taken away.

+1
Absolutely !
