Game is live... "Play your way"... Bounty hunting? NOP!

We're looking into the issues of reputation with bounty hunting.

Michael

It is not just bounty hunting there is a problem..

in beta 3 i get a fine of 25.000 cr for having some stolen goods.. my fail.. docked and payed the fine.. but the rep was now hostile.. not unfriendly or you have a bounty.. just strate to hostile.. and then i have done combat mission for empire only 40 kills), normal mission only for empire friendly fraction, only shoot wanted, and only hunter none empire ships..

and where am i now.. still hostile every docking on a space station is under attack for cops.. nothing have change for me or my rep... this must be broke.. all i want is to get back to before that bug, and not loosing all the hard work and ships and money i have put into this already..

yea, maybe i just clear my stat.. but how sayes it not still broke and will happen again.. will i then have to start over again and again.. ???

Then put ind a ticket, why no one is responding to them..

Did you really expect all the broken stuff suddenly vanishes over night and a properly working ED emerges with the number change to 1.0?
Frontier just invented DELTA after GAMMA. ;)
The game wont be "release feature complete and stable" within the next few months.

That's fine, but the big problem here is that we're now at a point where reputation gains and losses matter! And the current design makes it hard to repair damaged reputation. A restart with Clear Save is not exactly an ideal solution.

Aside from reputation gain/loss, there is still the issue of local Authority ships firing on players who attack a ship with an in-system Wanted ID. It's probably due to something like Wanted NPC's being generated with something other than neutral or negative faction rep relative to the local Authority ships. New players to the game will *not* understand this. It makes no sense.

I'm surprised they weren't able to prioritize a fix on these issues before release.

yepp this needs fixing soon.

suggestions:

- killing wanted ships NEVER makes other npc going hostile on you
- let bounties be redeemed on any station of a system and count it to the reputation of the faction in charge of this station.(much less complex then the not working system right now):

I think killing pirates that are of a pirate faction should still make that pirate faction hostile; but all pirates should be wanted criminals anyway.

This is certainly not my experience. Doing nothing but handing bounties in has NOT shifted my reputation one bit. Not one "blue" arrow on the reputation screen fir haning bounties in.

Please make sure you are not confusing the issue by refering to the "system status" screen. The arrows in there indicate faction influence in the system... NOT your rep with them. (For reference... Killing ships DOES seem to effect faction influence in system status... That at least appears to be working)

No, no confusion, it was on the standing screen. NOT the influence screen.

As i said though, it could be a time delay from something else i did.

Yeah, it's annoying that these issues are still present.
Especially the System Authority turning hostile if you dared opening fire on a Wanted ship that is part of their sub-faction even when they too were shooting at it in the first place.
At least in that case the cops will tend to prioritize actual wanted ships if they are close enough.

Yesterday I was taking some bounties at the nav point and spotted two npcs fighting each other. Both was taking damage but they were both clean.

Should one of them, one who started the fight, be wanted? I think this should be fixed too.

CMDR Dark Jedi

Only if the crime is reported. Those NPCs might have had report crimes off. If there is a security vessel close enough to witness the crime it can also be reported that way as well.

FYI you can turn off reporting by going to the far right tab on the right menu GUI.

Can CMDR's from gamma at least get a reset in reputation if a correction to the positive side would be too much of a hassle? I'm now under "unfriendly" status in the Feds because of this issue...

As i feared... Bounty hunting is broken in release.

Yeah I got a 400 cr fine during bounty hunting and didn't know it. Went to a station and got scanned. Station opened fire and I lost my ship in about 4 seconds. 300,000 cr. It takes hours and hours of bounty hunting to replace that.

EDIT: So the next time I was going to fight an anaconda I let him shoot first just to be safe. Big mistake. The first volley took my shields off, took me to 81% hull (in an asp) and also took my thrusters to 0%, which is not repairable. 300,000 cr again.

How long to make 600,000 cr bounty hunting?

Handing bounties in does not improve reputation with the issuing faction.

There is no way for a dedicated bounty hunter to improve galactic power standing and naval rank.

Hostile NPC's can open fire on a clean commander with no change of wanted status... If he retaliates... He becomes wanted.

Police opening fire on commanders for destroying wanted targets.

Loosing reputation with local authority for executing the bounties THEY ISSUED!

I am friendly in two systems from bounty hunting but I had to take the missions to kill pirates. This may have already been said u haven't actually read the thread yet

Confirmed. Messed up my standing with Empire by killing wanted criminals (with warrant scanner employed to boot - and to no apparent effect), and then having two internal security craft turn hostile towards me (getting a 400 Cr fine in the process). I also rubbed some additional salt on that myself by killing those ISFs then. Now working on restoring my reputation via mission running. Won't touch bounty hunting again until it's fixed.

Ok Warrent Scanner shows other bounties ONLY known to you. Thus you attack the player after warrent scan STILL incurs a crime against you becuase in that sector he's innocent. You need to weigh these options when you find a warrent on someone that's not public to that sector

Bounty Hunting with anything bigger than the Cobra is not very effective because there just aren't enough credit/hour to make and you can take down pythons/anacondas fairly easily with an eagle because of its smaller profile and faster turning. It just takes longer (seems forever). Makes me wish there are some hard hitting fighters.

I agree completely. I got interdicted in the asp and my fsd failed in .5 seconds so no time to submit. 7% hull damage = 17,000cr repair bill. I am thinking of saving up for an upgraded viper. That way even if I blow up the insurance will be reasonable. There isn't really anything in game that pays well enough to support medium and above ships except trading (and apparently you really have to go do rares to make that work at this point).

Please fix the fact that if I bounty hunt the Fed police start attacking you. I have not shot them, scanned them, bumped into them etc. I get no fines or a bounty on me. Maybe they don't like the fact that I am showing them up? :D
