Wait a few days before griefing...

... to not scare newcomers.

I just have been griefed by a player showing off his fancy Cobra on my empty one-trip-then-sell Adder. And then again by the same guy, cause he decided to do it over and over again on me. Ok, I am in Elite for a while ago, I can afford new ship, for me it's part of the game.
But newcomers will just ragequit (or at least get a bad taste) cause they get griefed almost instantly.

Yes, they can go solo. But then they'll probably stay in solo.
Yes, they can block. But most will be just unpleased with open play overally cause of this.
So what's the point of griefing? Wait a few days.

Note: It's not a complaint, just a suggestion for other players.

A suggestion that will fall on deaf ear. You can't tell an anarchist to stop rioting if they made up their mind.

Elite Dangerous needs more contents to keep people, that are likely to grief, busy. But, I can't says I appreciate the everyone wins mentality but someone want to casually play in a real life environment dealing with real people not NPC or dumb AI. If I tell people want to stay solo, it's no different than going back to playing Freelancer PC Microsoft game or worse X-Rebirth.

In a meantime, I am back to square one with little money and an empty Eagle because of Old Loadout option during the Insurance claim.

Anybody have a loan that they can offer to me? :D

The worst part about staying Solo, if Elite Dangerous introduce a contents, likes real life faction and station. You can't bring your Solo money economy into Multiplayer.

I took out a bunch of wanted player sidewinders and eagles earlier so they've probably learned something from the experience. For me, wanted is fair game, but others might have different morals.

I'd say, a bounty of 6 kCr or above makes them fair game for certain. A bounty of just 200 Cr, not so much. Anything in between, I'd leave it to each bounty hunter to judge for themselves.

If you want a risk free multiplayer experience then perhaps this game isn't for you? On the plus side, you learned two things: don't spend all your money on cargo, and the old favourite: kill your speed, not your credit balance! ;)

We're lucky to have a choice between solo and open play. It's not supposed to be an easy game or a risk free game but I understand that's what some people want!

The way FD has made the game the griefers should eventually realize it isn't worth it. I don't think they want to grind for a better ship, or for the top components so most of them should be easy targets, and once they've had to pay off the insurance several time they may think twice about that line of foul play.

I suspect the "Race for Elite" might be sparking some senseless PvP. While it is said that murder doesn't increase your ranking, I'm not perfectly sure, and it's probably not common knowledge anyway.

Well, you did try to name and shame him in a thread that was quickly pulled.

You can't name and shame someone for playing the game, it's what they want to be known for.... They show the 5 highest pker per system, you think that for name and shame? People have become so weak.

There is no verification whether some of those Sidewinders are real people. It is silly to assume that all Wanted Sidewinders are real people. The real challenge is fighting a real player playing the ED game.

Quite frankly, I am thinking that the bounty hunting not worth it unless if it a NPC offered mission. The bounty payment is potatoes compared to NPC mission in some case.

That was a misunderstanding.
All kills raise your ranking, regardless of whether they are legal or not.
However, the increase depends on the level of the destroyed ship, so killing Harmless sidewinders will be a very very slow grind to Elite.

I'm just kind of reminding of it, and hoping players won't go against new ones just cause they're newcomers.

Unfortunately the gaming world is full of people who seem unable to have fun if it doesn't involve attempting to ruin somebody else's, and beginners are high on the list of targets.

The more affluent among them usually gravitate towards F2P games where they can pay for advantages, but I've no doubt there will be one or two here as well.

So, they took offline mode but they created a game to punish PvPers? I guess my pledge is not wasted after all ROFL.

Yes and not just any anarchy system - its been to the go-to system for people who want to blow off steam with random PvP encounters for since the start of the beta.

Once the system had mineable asteroid belts,
now those belts are a ship graveyard and salvageable;)

That is not correct. There is no difference in your money when you switch between solo and open. It is exactly the same except there are no other players in your instance. You can switch freely at any time.

Can't get docking permission because there is a queue? Save and exit to menu, start back in solo, dock and switch back to open.

If you stay in solo you will miss the opportunity to get advice and gifts from others CMDRs, you will find more of them willing to help than grief.

Please elaborate.

How exactly were you "griefed"

add them to your block list and move on ... the more people that meet them, the more blocked they will get and they'll end up playing with themselves ... as usual ;)

You realise you're suggesting putting someone on a block-list, for behavour that may just be legitimate PVP?

I've been pretty much killing newbies since release, well, not really killing. I leave their hull at 1% with everything damaged and just leave them drifting there, takes them a while to find the self destruct button. It's fun :)
