The Rift and NVIDIA Cards thread for ED

Always wait to see if it will improve performance or not, often at first its not that great. But hope to be proved wrong.

Thx

Latest drivers totally broke the Rift for me in extended mode. Starting the game up resulted in nothing on the rift except a white strobing, and then Elite would show up in 3d mode on my primary monitor even though "Secondary" was clearly selected. Rolled back the drivers in Device Manager and now it works again.

Stay away.

This driver really breaks VR? come on NVIDIA sort it out.............

Been struggling for the past couple of hours with this :( I guess they really tried to upgrade. The nvidia driver now supports oculus as a 3dStereoscopic display, witch could be totally cool even for all the other games aswell. But cant seem to make that happen in ED :( it says it recognizes, but with stereo enabled menus on ED wont show, without 3dStereo enabled splits the rift.

Any ideas on to configure?... Should the roll-back and wait for further non-beta versions? Actually could be a great upgrade

Yes, it totally broke DK2 support in Elite Dangerous. The game is forcing the highest refresh rate available (now 120 Hz) instead of using the refresh rate we have manually set using Windows desktop configuration (75 Hz). To make things worse, all refresh settings are disabled inside Elite Dangerous when using Oculus Rift mode, so we can't manually fix what the game automatically does wrong.

Please Frontier, let us choose refresh rate to avoid that kind of problems in the future.

Has anyone tried pausing the oculus service? I get a split image when launching alien isolation if the service isn't paused.

No. I'll admit to being to knackered to do this now ( Bed for me ) but it might work. Backwards step in my view though.

Maybe worth a try in the morning for me.

No rift here, but these drivers haven't done me any favours with 780s in SLI. Aside from the common stutter in SC around planets and stars, I previously had 60fps constant even in stations. Now I'm often seeing <30fps in stations and hangers.

Can't remember if I'd had to do anything with nvidia inspector before, but I'll try reinstalling 344.75 tomorrow and see if things are any better.

Stopping the OR service didnt work for me...
The issue seems to be that it is rendering both images only in the right eye... My left eye is completely blank.
At this point I am happy to roll back and get on with the playing the game and wait for NVIDIA to sort it, but I'm wondering now if moving the sliders inside ED may reposition the images correctly? I doubt it but it might be worth taking a look. I'm already rolled back so can't test it myself. Besides which is very awkward trying to see anything in the Rift when it is set up this way.

Nah I tried all that, played with resolutions too, no good. Driver is broken for Dk2.

Thanks guys.. saw this post and I've just un-ticked the install beta drivers in Experience. I guess you guys have saved me a heap of time re-installing drivers.
I'll buy you a Lavian Brandy when I see you around!

No problem! Rolling back is super easy, though. The NVIDIA experience thing doesn't delete the old drivers so it only takes about 30 seconds to undo it.
