Seeing other players in Open Play - hardly anyone?

I agree, it doesn't add up. In Gamma pill I often saw main systems with 20 players plus. We have even more players now many of which must hang around start systems or conflict zones but I don't see many people at all.

I agree, something doesn't add up - I think the P2P mechanics still need some TLC. I'm confident we'll get there but you, I, and a good number of others aren't seeing many (or any, in some cases) other players. And that traffic report counts only players (did some experiments with this).

Agreed. I started as an Explorer and for the first week the Traffic Report was '1 Cobra' in every system I visited. So I didn't expect to see other players, but since then I have come to all the so called busy systems, one after the other, and never see other players yet the Traffic Reports have been getting higher and higher - but still its little old me and a bunch of NPCs.:(

It all depends on where you go.

I was also wondering if there was something up with the matchmaking since Gamma started. Then I went to the starter systems (around LHS 3447)...players everywhere. Not only that...the experience was also a lot smoother than previously. :)

More and more people have also started to involve themselves in the story events mentioned on GalNet. So these systems also have quite a number of players around them at times.

Is there a list of starter systems? I may just go cruisng to check them all out :)
Except LTT15445 or wherever it was that I restarted at the beginning of Gamma. That place sucked :)

I am at LAVE today I have seen about 6 cmdrs none wanted to talk I was close to a guy in an ASP that made me nervous (that was in Orerve) his name was Cmdr sable or similar

I've been hanging out a lot around the nav beacon at Lugh recently and there's usually been 1 or 2 other players in there with me - plus a few in SC when I've been returning to cash in bounties and re-arm. Sure, it isn't like massive numbers of players at any given time, but relatively consistantly I'm not alone.

sol menu says 5000 visits a day, so around 500-1000 per station, its is spread around 24h so 20-40 folks per hours, because most of us just zip in and or zip out in less than 30 sec, i think it is normal to hardly see anyone even in the most populated star system by far (proxima has 1000 per day)

Omg I just saw my first real player since Gamma 1.0.

Congratulations CMDR RELIANT - how aptly named that I could rely on Cmdr Reliant to be the first one! :)

This was in Freeport of all places. Maybe he has been stuck here since Beta?

I see players all the time. Actually more in Gamma than in Beta and more after release than in Gamma. Was in Lave last night buying some special liquors and got interdicted by players twice. A guy in a Cobra even followed me to station after an unsuccessful interdiction attempt.

I'm located in Sweden, so I'm guessing I get matched with other European players.

I suspect this "instance" feature they use to keep people separate is a working a little too well. I also only find about 1 or 2 players ever in a system and that is maybe a few times an hour.

They almost need an option to select "play on a crowded instance" for social players that can force themselves to be where alot of other players are. That and add a "radio" feature to the game so we can tune to various channels including an "open" channel where anyone in that system can chat (or something like that).

Go to Eravate - one of the starter systems. Plenty of RWPs there (last traffic count I saw said 38000 sidewinders). I see plenty in SC, and quite a few around the stations. I do find it can take a little time for the p2p sessions to establish for instancing.

I've gone to popular systems and seen few people, and gone to others and seen lots. LHS 3447 was absolutely clogged last time I was there. I've consistently seen one or people at a time near Lave. Other places have had a mix between having never seen a player and having seen several.

Time of day is a big factor. I suspect the weekends will have more crowds, too.

I started in LHS 3447 and it was pretty crowded. A few people were trying to talk to me but with no mic and crappy typing skills wasn't able t talk to them. I've been playing solo alost since day one. If I ever get a head set and mic, i may trry open play again. I don't mind being around people when I can communicate with them.

I got the hell out of LHS 3447, way too populated for me as a noob and went some 80-100 light years away to an alliance system. I have only seen one other player since doing that. It has been very quiet out here, and I don't mind really. Will make it even more exciting if I do happen upon another human. ^_^

Not saying where I am based out of exactly either...:p

I actually tried my hardest to get away from other players, waiting for 10 others outside an outpost for a docking space for ~10-20 minutes got me frustrated pretty quickly. I found some remote systems with a little trade route i've been doing there, but I think I should be able to find something more profitable if i venture forth a little further.

i've had this problem. i set up port forwarding and that improved things for me (although i still don't think it's quite working as intended yet).

last night, after yesterdays, patch i saw around 10 players. not quite as many as i would like but it's getting better.

you can check how busy a system is by looking at the traffic report in the station.

FD seem to be working on multiplayer from what i can tell, it has certainly improved for me since release.

Until the last patch I've not seen 1 other player apart from at the lave radio event where I saw 1 real player and was astounded.

Yesterday after the patch I've been in a semi populated anarchy zone and saw 5 really players I couldn't believe it so what ever did they did had worked for me.
