all i see is artist impression pics and not one single in game shot or videos.

Id rather have a game I play because its a game.

I spend enough time earning money in the more mundane real world where people have jobs & stuff.

Elite Dangerous is a leisure game, meant to be played for fun. It is not meant to generate income for the player. There are plenty of games designed specifically for that already: try online poker for instance. Or if you really like computer games, just sign up to tournaments and become a professional player.

The notion that gold farming will stop if all games had a real cash economy is so enormously wrong that it suggests to me that, with all respect, you don't understand economics at all.
