Hi folks,

This thread is for discussions on the games reputation system.

Feel free to chat all about it in here.

Have fun, :D

Uhhh.. Did Faction Reputation just get reset to 'Neutral'?

Been spending the last 3 weeks focused on faction.. I finally made one rank in it just last night.

Just in the past two hours, I've noticed my 'Friendly' faction (which I've managed to get 5 systems to 'Allied' through Bulletin Board missions, so I figured I was really close to making 'Allied' faction) is now reset to 'Neutral'.

Is this part of 'Launch Night'? Or did I just lose over two weeks of work focused on growing a single faction and I need to report it?

Reputation problems

Hello, I have some issues with the reputation system and I don't know if it is bugged or there's something I'm missing. At this point I'm docked in a federation star port which shoots me as soon as I leave. There's no fines I have to pay off to get rid of this reputation so I'm basically stuck being attacked over and over at every federation star port. The biggest thing I don't understand is how I got this negative reputation. I think I got it from attacking ships with the "wanted" label on them, but shouldn't that boost my reputation for attacking criminals, not hurt it?

Same with fighting in conflict zones. I fought for Betel Free in the conflict zones, so now I'm unfriendly to Betel free after fighting for them? Not sure how that makes any sense, but their missions are locked out to me now.

Thanks

Yep the punishing for doing something bad is hard. I was "friendly" with the whole federation until a ship scanned me and found 1 ton illegal military plan - now I'm unfriendly with them. Another weird thing is that after I completed a mission the final rep chart says I'm "allianced" to a federation fraction but my right panel says I'm still "friendly" with that faction. The whole system is such a mess.

This is a total non-sense !
I made something like 50 missions for a sub-faction of Alliance. I was friendly. They found on my 7 tons of legal stuff, but stolen after I killed a pirate. I'm now neutral again.................. 50 missions... Some of them took me hours and hours........................................... HOW DOES THE REPUTATION WORK ???

Getting caught doing something naughty can knock you back a few reputation points, and move you down a level. But it usually only takes a few positive points to take you back up again.

My problem is still not fixed. I'm in a starport that shoots me everytime I leave the starport.

There's been plenty of times I've done absolutely nothing to get my reputation devalued (Again, I fought for Betel Free only to become unfriendly to Betel Free. Makes no sense. I shoot bad guys with warrants, now the Federation hates me for doing their job?) Reputation system needs a lot of work.

If you're going to make people hostile, at least add an advantage to being hostile, like not spawn dying over and over.

Reputation and influence

OK so I finally decided to start acting deliberately. I have decided to join the Alliance. My experience has been a little confusing for want of a better word. Here's what I have done:

I first spent some time in the Galaxy and System maps looking for a suitable area where I could begin working with Alliance aligned factions. I settled on an area centred on the Boreas system and chose Rice Gateway as my base of operations.

The Boreas system is home to 4 factions:
  • Boreas Front - Alliance
  • New Boreas Union - Alliance
  • Conservatives of Boreas - Alliance
  • Mike's Motors - Independent

The system features 3 stations:
  • Rice Gateway - New Boreas Union
  • Selberg Station - New Boreas Union
  • Allen's Orbital - Conservatives of Boreas

Now since arriving in the area I have not been involved in any combat I have only been trading and have avoided all interdictions. My plan was to ally myself with the Alliance factions in the system and therefore increase my reputation with the Alliance. Missions I have been accepting are mainly for New Boreas Union and Boreas Front and have mostly consisted of cargo courier requests, black ops, and freeing slaves.

I am currently Friendly with New Boreas Union and Neutral with Boreas Front, Conservative of Boreas, and Mike's Motors. This is as expected based on how I have been accepting and completing missions. From memory I have done 5 slave liberation runs and have managed to avoid authorities scans on entering Rice Gateway 3 out of the 5 times. My ratio of avoiding being caught with illegal items would be about the same for the black ops missions.

Now here is where things get a little confusing. I noticed that my slave liberation actions were, on the mission completion summary screen, showing that my reputation was increasing with the faction I was working for but was apparently also lowering that faction's influence in the area. That seemed odd to me but I accepted that as just something I didn't really understand. I then decided to look at the reputation tab and see how I was tracking against the local factions as well as the Alliance as a whole. Every faction and the Alliance all had red down arrows next to them. Why?

I don't understand this. Why has my non-aggressive behaviour and mission completion that has shown rep increases in the mission summary resulted in the Reputation tab showing that I am going down in reputation, even whilst I manage to achieve friendly status with on of those factions? Is there a bug in the reputation system or perhaps in how it is being displayed? Or is this really just a case of I have no idea what I am doing?

Reputation bugged? Sobargo

Hi, I'm wondering if anyone experienced the same.
I was allied to Mastropos Minig Inc./Empire. Took a mission from them to kill 4 ships in the warzones. After completing the mission (yeah I'm sure that I killed to correct ships) I lost my allyed status.

Did you kill the right faction?

It has been broken since release, doesn't seem to effect everyone for some reason. I'm in the same boat as you, working for the Empire gives you rep for their enemies, I did loads of Imperial faction missions in Liaedin & Sorbago systems, ended up loosing my friendly status with the Imperials and sub factions that I gained in gamma. Also went from Hostile to unfriendly with the Fed's :(
Won't be playing till they put in a proper fix

from which faction did you took mission? I`ve noticed that for positive influence gains atm you can take just mining inc contracts

I took the mission from Mastropos Minig Inc, killed Sobargo org. ships and lost reputation from empire/Mastropos Minig Inc.

Federal Reputation - Meet representative at Beta Hydri?

Currently the rank of Petty officer in the Federation.

Getting a mission saying go to Beta Hydri (bout 50 LY away) and meet a representative here. Been experimenting looking at ports and USS's - anyone completed a mission like this one for the Feds? What did you have to do to do it?

Cheers,

JAD.

Just got that myself, went there, nothing happens.

I'd guess that it's actually a poorly worded way of giving you the permit for the location.

But I'd like to be proved wrong...

You get that same mission text for all permits you're given after getting navy promotions. So far there doesn't seem to be anything special happening in any of those systems, so it's either a poorly written mission text or it's supposed to trigger a mission branch that just isn't happening.

It's not a mission as far as i understand it, i just got it today too by the way.
All it is, is the permission to enter the system. (which you couldn't have done without the permit)
Check your right-hand panel, go to the permits page and you'll see it's been added there.
There's nothing more to it, it's just an "unlock".
