my thoughts after playing a few days

After having played a lot for a couple days i feel like this game was a waste of money for me.

So im starting out and theres a couple of missions you can do for like a couple thousand credits at most which is really nothing.
Missions are extremely boring and tedious to finish and give little reward. I feel like this whole mission/reputation system needs an overhaul.
Going to nav beacons and bounty hunting ships is the best way to make credits easily. But that gets boring aswell tho its "ok"

I tried mining but wow mining takes tedious to a whole new level. getting bits of silver at 10-20 % having to collect 5 of them to get 1 cargo unit.
The only thing i could stand a bit was bounty hunting but then i accidentally shoot another player with 1 bullet because everyone loves to come fly in front of you
when ur shooting an npc so they can kill you. Open play is terrible.

Travelling takes EXTREMELY long and often you could be traveling for a half hour going from station to station finding nothing of worth. If im playing a game for an hour i want to feel like ive done something.
Like getting the last hit on a ship was even getting u the bounty credit. Where is % based reward on damage? Overall i feel like this game has very little to offer and feels rushed and not properly designed.

Different things are appropriate at different times. Most lucrative to start with is to explore and sell your data. I wiped yesterday and now have an adder, have gained rank trading and exploring and have 500,000 cr. You are at the start and have much to learn

If you were looking for a PVP space battle game im not sure what research you did prior to buying ED, but you were mislead..

Maybe shelve it til some of the free patches come in or even the first paid expansion.
I know thats not an ideal answer but really what you see is what you get, you clearly aren't having control issues which puts most new players off.
If self given objectives and free play aren't your thing it will be a struggle til more content arrives,

Totally agree, but what else is there to play ?
thing that gets me is all the beta testers got to exploit rare trading to earn millions for cool ships while newbies are stuck on a now much longer yawn age of grinding.

honestly I will be the first to use any money exploit I can just to experience flying a real ship, but at 200 million buy in... This game won't hold my interest long enough for that, I just don't have the play hours.

new players got totally shafted, and it's not like someone can help you out if they were feeling generous , I suppose maybe drop a few canisters ? But are jettisoned canister end classed as stolen?

Your first lesson is don't ever criticise the game on this forum or you will be talked down in the most condescending way possible, even though you might raise valid points.
This game is perfect just as it is, didn't you know that?
;)

I do kind of find the prices of ships ridiculous, also rare trading got exploited by people when it wasn't nerfed and now they have all the fun in their conda's.

Please show me, in posts #2 to #7, who talked down to the OP in "the most condescending way possible".

Not happened yet, but I would be very surprised if it didn't.

To the OP, the problem with Elite Dangerous is that it isn't finished, they rushed to get it out for Christmas and left out quite a lot of pretty important stuff. Worse, the rep system is still completely broken (I get negative rep for doing missions for the faction that issues the rep for example), this, for me holds me back from throwing myself head-first into the game. That said, the hard work, the flight model, the graphics the engine itself, is absolutely sublime, and Frontier really are making progress fixing things. Give it 'till February/March time and Elite will likely be a much, much, much better, varied and full experience.

Since they are in fact working on fleshing out the features he feels are lacking, implying that he just doesn't get it is a bit condescending.

I'd read the stickies on this thread and watch the updates and when you see what you want implemented hop back in if you don't want to burn out. Your frustrations are completely understandable. That said watch the galnet news an event might pop up that interests you, we really don't have any idea what their plans are on that front.

Sounds like he was looking for something a bit more shooter, and a bit less space sim.

This game definitely isn't for everyone, and thats ok. To each their own.

Is there a single ship that isn't sold equipped with a weapon? What game are you playing?

you just cannot juge ED with only a few days, you need minimum 1 week and try for 2 days each profession there is to do

2 days bounty hunter, then explorer, trader/smuggler, 1 day mining

then you can give it early thoughts, mine for now is that every profession can pay well, each of them has there own advantages especially now that they are approximately balanced, of course there is a lot of work to do and a lot of features to add.

take a look at the stars and the stations, it's beautiful, the sounds is incredible, and you have 400 billions systems, players alter themselves the economy...

Some bad things to, like the fact that only 3 or 4 ships have an extreme edge over the others, or that we miss something to grab faster those metal/rocks when mining, or even the stations have like what 2 models of big stations and 1 model of small.

Beside tha E.D. is born with all you need to have a great time traveling and making your way threw this giant, beautiful universe

Yeah, stay away from missions. Just go out and kill stuff, the combat is the fun part. Not that the other stuff isn't fun, but to each their own. I haven't noticed any benefit to getting rep or anything, and the mission payouts aren't enough to worry about. Bounties pay very well though.

I feel like they released it now so that people wouldnt wait for star citizen beta/release perhaps. Or trying to ride on the star citizen hype trying to get sales from the people that cant wait to play it and will play the next best space sim. The game probably should have had another development year(not saying i really believe this but it feels like it). What would really help this game imo is dynamic events like most MMO's have in the world and participation gives cred/reputation. Just standard mmo stuff. Or have missions you can do with friends like escorting ships, defending something, hunting down a group of pirates etc. Crafting! being able to craft ship parts and selling these. Why not have some mini story mission arcs like in EVE? Have some local/system chat option perhaps? An option to have guilds, alliances? Perhaps elite is just a different game i was expecting it to be. Though i feel if they would add these features or something like it this game would be a lot more popular. I wont be playing it again just because even if they add some content it still wont nearly be enough. Ty for the friendly responses usually threads like these its just everyone insulting the OP.
