Solo vs open (closed thread)

Hi,

I'd like to know about the differences between Solo mode and multiplayer mode. I guess that Solo mode has fewer ships (there can only be so many NPC's) and may take longer to go through the rankings. However, what about missions, contracts etc - do they exist and do they have the variety that would be in the Multiplayer mode.

Thanks
Jason

They're essentially identical, the only difference is you're more likely to get interdicted and killed or collide with someone when docking in open play ;)

What is there to do with other players though? i mean are there any group activities ppl have been doing together? Finding each other outside of supercruise seems like a challenge in itself unless you meet at a nav beacon or asteroid belt

I know you can go solo and kill/get killed in the open mode, but i'm more interested in the group activities if there are none that ppl do in multiplayer

It simply means you'll run into more people. If you're playing in Open then any ship you come across with CMDR before its pilots name is another player.

Solo play is exactly the same its just inhabited only by NPCs and thus emptier than open play

And there are more available Quests in Solo play (at least from my experience) !

In Solo mode there are always a bunch of Quests available at any station while in multiplayer I stumbled across many empty Bulletin Boards. I guess because Quests have been taken by other players ...

The plan is for wing formations and comms to appear in the new year. I never play solo but will say that in open mode I see other players a lot. You dont have to worry about being killed much. You wont be. The only place Ive been killed is in combat zones, so there should be nothing preventing you from playing in open mode if you want too. And if you do get killed by another player, you are insured!

And to PicasoX, I think yes is the answer to your question.
