Server updated, no stock in the whole system has plumetted!

No I have 8 cargo cap, I am trading in the same system, some of the stations produce items, now after the update they no longer produce those items

You were making 6-10k runs in system with 8 cargo cap? holy....

That's definitely quite more than my experience.

Basically you can throw every single price you have recorded in the bin because it appears that the reset has destroyed existing trade routes.

Just hope that we will come out the other end on top when it settles...

something is wrong thats for sure

I went through many stations without backtracking to get to Lave.

At each I brought items that were high in production and low in demand.
Then on each next station I sold for a loss.

To be honest I would have thought if something was at a surplus it would mostly get a higher sell value at the next station, not a lower one. At this point I also did think the logic of the trade system is in fact illogical.

My trade route flipped... now at very low profit (if any). Time to look elsewhere I guess.

This has to be the most infuriating trading system ever... but I want my Lakon 9 damnit!:D

Not if AI would have overloaded next market with deliveries (which was a bug). This is what happened till today. In next few days it should get better.

I just think it is a major change that will take a bit of time to settle.... unfortunately for me I am away from tomorrow for a few days Xmas fun, so I won't be able to tell for sure ...

I used it as a reference, told it to update and manually checked the data for the trades I used, I then updated the tool whenever I docked.

Example before update:

Gold was selling from a station, Tantalum was selling

After update

Gold and Tant are both med demand and no longer selling

What type of economy were you buying the Gold and Tantalum from?

Problem with the in house system is like Pauling gateway in LTT 2684 - The blurb says 'exports: Narcotics, Battle Weapons & Domestic Appliances' - Well the first two do not even appear in the commodity market list as anything, let alone available to buy and export!

Trading has been a bit messed up for about the last two weeks.

What FD have been saying is that there was something wrong with the way the background AI has been trading. That caused all sorts of daft situations. For example you ,might have had a manufacturing station having so much gold shipped to it at a massive loss by the AI, this might have left it with a large surplus which could be traded back to a refining station (which 'should' be exporting goldd) at a reasonable profit, because all to that stations stock has been bought and exported by the AI.

Last week they tried a fix to the AI, but that didn't work. This morning there was another fix put in (see the patch forum). So far the effects seem to be ok. Here in Aulin Enterprises I notice that the huge (20k+) surplus of superconductors has gone. This si good because this station is supposed to be an importter of these, but has been exporting for the last 2 weeks.

I suspect what has happened is that your trade route was one of these 'upside down' ones and it has been fixed.

The data people have been putting into Slopey's (and others) tool since launch is probably now largely out of date. It will take a few days for

a) the trade routes to properly settle down after this large change
b) for the player base to re-populate the tools with up to date data.

For now look very carefully at market data and see how fresh the data is before using it. Thrudds has got a lot of new data in it from today that is proving pretty reliable.

Stick with it, and find some new routes

Fly safe.

I almost feel like ill be getting more profit now. Ill find out when i get home.

I was only getting 470~ a ton. But maybe if this fix actually fixes things it may raise prices elsewhere.

I know in densely populated areas in the galaxy, trade is all jacked up. Lines going everywhere, imports/exports that dont exist. Massive headache.

My primary trade already reduced from 794 to 700 and dropping. Love the dynamics after a static market since release.

Soon I have to think outside the box for a change.

I've said this in another "The market is dead" thread, do we ever stop buying the stuff we keep buying, be it food or drink or oil or gas?
We need to stop kidding ourselves this is how markets react to a normal amount of trade.
If its not a normal amount of trade, then the parameters need to be adjusted, this is how markets work.
If a product is no longer wanted/needed, in the real world, the supplier finds something that is and sells that.
Unfortunately, Elites market is trying to be dynamic, but it cant be, because it can't adapt.
It can only deal with a set amount of products, in a calculated way.

I don't remember the old Elite screwing up like this.
If you ran the same trade rout more than a couple of times, margins would be cut, you'd trade a bit further out and you would keep doing so. This encouraged exploration.
In ED, the market is porked, no matter how far you move.

Lets face it, at the moment . . . trade is broken.

Its time to about face and take everything back in the opposite direction lol. Profits!

Seriously though chaps, defer comments on if its broken or not until we've had chance to see it swing back from its reversed state. it could need a day, and certain routes may bottom out before rising again.

Surely the idea is the market is dynamic enough that if you continually trade in one area it will plummet? I'd say if your able to repeatedly run the same trades making solid credits without the need for variety, that something is wrong.

Sure, but I was running Super Conductors from one station to another... Decent profit not wow but decent. Stock was +153K. Demand was high. Within an hour the station with stock 153K went from supply med to demanding med. No more stock, they were BUYING the same stuff an hour earlier was sold ... Sorry but if this is intented than FD are completely WRONG. This is not how it is supposed to be ...

My 3 gold stations, 2 Beryllium station that were selling at profitable prices are now buyers with low demand and toilet prices.

I believe the term is "Nuked from Orbit".

But yeah, lets chill and see what the next few days bring.

I think the patch note from Michael mentioned that ED dev/admin folks would wait and see how the markets react over the next day or so and further tweak it if necessary...
