who managed to trick death so far?

I almost died in combat to a larger ship but then a load of fed navy vessels came and rescued me! The only time I have died is when I was drunk and went flying into a star by accident haha

Died sunday night after 2 hours search for rebel transmissions.

Trying to sneak into dock, I miss timed it and hit one of the spiky bits on the toaster rack. popped the canopy, pulling back off the spiky bit, I quickly turned into the port and hit full speed to clear any scans. only to be crushed by a space cow coming out. Lost mission, rep, and bounties only just offset the insurance.

I think that at the moment it's balanced in favor of the newbies, which is not a problem in my eyes. This coupled with the fact that we are getting better at it!
All through beta & gamma I was very poor at combat, however since release I wanted to improve my combat rating so started doing more bounty hunting. At first I got wupped, but it didn't take long for me to get the hang of it and now I've had a couple of close do's but I'm finding it much easier.
This is combat with NPCs of course, in order to make it more challenging I will pick fights with players.
There's always a way to make it fun :D

None so far but I am operating in a relatively quiet area. As a trader with a Cobra and a joystick I have evaded most interdictions and boosted my way out of the few that snagged me.
Having played Elite a while back had prepared me to be prepared. I have remapped my jettison all hot key to "CTRL-*" to avoid dumping cargo by accident.

I must be one of the very few that actually enjoy the auto-docking sequence. It prevents accidentally boosting while in-station and gives me a chance to get a cup of coffee or a cocktail.

Before Gammer. I wondered why I was dying so easy, when my Son said DAD what state are your scanners in?? what do you mean I said!! IS your scanner blue or RED, where is it I said.!! its the thing on your dashboard to the left, say's He. Oh that. .IT'S red I say's. press 4 scroll along and see if you have a scanner. !! DOH !! I remember trying to make room and accidently sold IT..LOl.LOl . now I have a CobraIII, Beam lasers. missiles, and I no what state my scanners are in at all times.
I have not died since, and I mine all the time, and any-one askes !!WHAT HAVE WE HERE, or This scan wont Hurt...DIES. lol and yes, I THINK ITS TO EASY In the old days you would not dream of going to an Anarchy planet Un tooled -up. or deal in drugs. I love it best game for a long ,long time.

One death since release, an Imperial Clipper caught me with wild flying in my sidewinder, those things hurt when they crash into you, much more than their guns. Blessing in disguise, really, as it sorted the problem with my phantom cargo.

hey people!

just curious, since the last gamma wipe i managed to die exactly 0 times :) and i was wondering if thats something special or if i was doing it wrong :p

i got close to death including situations with like 3% or 1% hull but as the title says - i tricked death so many times now that i begin to get a bit paranoid. how far can i go?

No deaths since beta (and in there they were due me and my attention being distracted off screen, to slam to side of port, or flying so late the night that I forget to ask for landing permission - and way too deep in station to fly out).

I managed to get away from an elite NPC in my sidewinder with 8% of my hull left intact... That's the closest I've been to dying in game so far.

Started over on release day, and have only died once since then. I don't consider it my fault, though, as a stupid cop rammed me and insta-killed my Cobra while I was trying to shoot a pirate.

Yes, I had some "near death" experiences while exploring the Galaxy with my unshielded SideWinder, but... 0 deaths at the moment! :D

Twice so far. The first one was deliberate - I wanted to smash my canopy for bug testing and was too fast - that was before the non-wipe anouncement. The other one was when I was inebriated and drove my Asp into a station wall.

I started playing on release date. Haven't died as of yet... been consciously avoiding trouble though*. I've been pretty close to burning myself to death in some star or another, but so far, so good...

*Perhaps not very "Jack Dalton-ish" of me... :p

I was in game at 12:02 on day of release, and hadn't died .... until last night. Was busy hauling with a clean record everywhere, when I got interdicted by another player, who immediately opened fire with tooled up Eagle. Although I had an Adder with a few extra bits, I was no match for him and within seconds my shields were gone and I didn't have time to thrust/boost/FSD away before I was dead. There was no communication, just interdict and kill. In my surprise/shock I even failed to note who it was!

In what must have been a tooled up Eagle he would have had little if any cargo space for the fairly valuable cargo I was trying to make a profit on.

Not long afterwards I was interdicted again, this time though by an NPC in something big (still not sure which ship, haven't seen one like it for sale anywhere yet) with turreted lasers and I was dead again!

The whole 1 hour session, with 'death duties' and lost cargo, cost me around 50k, when I had still only accumulated about 120k at the time.

Again like other people my game time is currently limited due to the run up to Christmas so 50k was a bit of a hit!

HOWEVER, I will say, that although it was frustrating and annoying, PvP attacking IS part of the game. You never know, he could be one of the first to make Elite status, who knows?!

So far, all except the one mentioned above PvP contacts have been to chat. One even interdicted to say 'Hi, I was feeling lonely, just thought I would stop you to have a chat!'

Anyway, if you see me I am happy to stop and chat, although if I'm on a time critical mission it may end up being 'Hi! How are you doing? Sorry must go, I'm on a mission!' :)

See you in space Commander!

twice. the first time i was interdicted whilst i was trying to refuel from a star - i didn't know you needed a fuel scoop and a cargo scoop isn't a fuel scoop, but that is another story - he had me to not much hull left and i just went for it and out gunned him. the second time i jumped to star system and trying to supercruise away it was frying me or nuking me or something. i managed not to die, but i have no idea what happened :D

Ah so this makes me the worst player so far?
Dead 8 times since beta . . .drunk flying 3 times, boosting into letterbox, to find nice big T9's there.
Doesn't happen when I'm not drunk . . don't drink n drive kids.

One time burned up in a star, come to think of it, I was drunk that time too.

And 4 times in combat in the same system testing different setups, fighting 140K + Condas.
All 4 kills were steam train rams too, no guns.

But hey, its Elite "Dangerous" right?

I started a new commander after release. Not died so far, don't think I have even taken any hull damage although I have taken some heat damage.
It is surprising because I haven't really been that careful.
Maybe I have just been lucky. Game does seem rather safe overall though. Rubber stations. Impenetrable shields, AI seems a bit... unconcerned...etc.
I am sure it was not like this in beta.

No deaths during Gamma, but I did pop at loaded Type-6 just after 1.0 with the old "meant to hit FA off and hit afterbuners instead" routine inside of a Coriolis station. Type-6 freighters don't turn all that fast, as it turns out.

So, now I no longer pull up landing gear until I'm lined up with the slot AND there is no Type-9 sitting IN the slot.

Almost died--interdicted by a cobra when in my hauler, got me down to 1% but I got away, landed with about 0:06 remaining of oxygen. I upgraded my life support immediately thereafter.

I've died a handful of times; twice in combat (both times being rammed by Pythons!) and a couple of times being over-confident with my speed during docking. Totes hilair.

None since the start of Gamma (I stopped doing stupid things along the lines of "How fast can I crash into the landing pad and still trigger docking?" - turns out not very fast at all).
-
I have refined my interdiction response and it seems to have improved survivability immensely. Submit, 4 pips to engines and max the throttle then check the scanner to see what ship is after me. Anything up to a Viper/Cobra I'll take on, anything else it's boost, boost, FSD.
