Insurance system is terrible and is ruining the game. FACT!

I see what you did there...

Further....why is cargo instantly moved in or out of your ship!? The fusion reactor just instantly starts and the engines are ready, I think not...it should take at least 30 minutes to get the ship ready to depart! Repairs are done magically too with a swipe of the mouse. Don't get me started on WHY DO PLANS COME IN 1TON CANISTERS!? Come on....realism needs to be added. Since a ship like a Cobra costs around 300,000CR and space ships, even small unarmed barely powered ones are what 1Billion USD, that means that a Cobra is about 100Bilion USD....it should take many lifetimes to make that kind of money. Most people should be in little pods traveling between 1 station and 1 planet making 100CR a year.....come on FD...

Lets take it a step further shall we, so after you've filled in your claim I look over it which, as I have thousands of others because who the **** would chose that role, and it takes me a month, then I call you and say well, even though you had an ANACONDA worth 146,969,451 CR before your mods I've decided that you will only get 30% back due to the market value of the after sale depreciation and the coverage you originally scrimped on...

Sounds good to me.

Another glaring omission from the devs is TAXES! We don't seem to be paying any taxes at all?!! How realistic is that! Please implement taxation and associated bureaucracy.

He can help you out!

The way insurance is handled in the game is terrible and is absolutely destroying my sense of immersion.

Why is it when I need to claim on insurance, the claim is resolved instantaneously? Huh, as if that ever happens, its simply completely unrealistic. Why do I not have to fill in a claim form? Ideally the claim form would be extremely byzantine and require real in game legal and administrative skills to master, as it is the way insurance is handled is simply a I win claim button. No one wants I win buttons is a game like ED, no one and I can say that with 100% certainty. Also why I am given cover by default, why am I not allowed to choose my provider? I should be able to search through several offers offered by an aggregating service all replete with small print and exceptions etc, ED is meant to be dangerous, well nothing is more dangerous than flying without adequate cover, or cover that will not be fulfilled because yes as it happens you are using your vehicle for commercial purposes, its all there in black and white, cover is for domestic use only. As it is we can all be safe and cozy care bears all 100% sure our insurance will cover any eventuality. Pandering to the Noobs at its worst.

Also Dave from Accounts plays the game, if the in game chat and multi player systems were better, I would be able to hook up with him and let him handle my claims and I would be able to reward him in a less clumsy way then jettisoning slave canisters in the nearest anarchy system.

Given the massive successes of the Indy hit Papers Please, its obvious that 99.9999% of players would appreciate more, much more corporate bureaucracy in the game. Yea there may be a small minority of players who would be put off by such complexity, well the game is 100% not for them anyway.

He-heh! :D

Oooooo, I'll have to stop flying under the influence, don't want to invalidate my policy. Where did I put that copy of the terms and provisions?

They should add a ship impound for those who loiter.
The space Lizard Lick Towing, same cast but with robo arms and brain tanks and crapy scripts.

I’m sorry Commander, but it cleary states in section 1029, subsection 467, paragraph 208. “In the event of destruction, and such destruction occurs via hostilities perpetrated by wanted felons for the purpose of illegal acquisition of goods, and such destruction occurs in system without Imperial governance, that such destruction is excluded from your policy.”

I'm afraid you only course of action is to sell yourself into indentured servitude.

Have a nice day. Hail the emperor.
