REALLY? the cap ships can't be killed?!

I'm pretty sure they are meant to be killable, but it's also meant to be very hard and require co-ordinated efforts by multiple ships. Could be wrong here.

Ticket it, sounds like a bug. Personally I hope they don't just explode into space dust Michael Bay style. I want them to list and roll out of control disabled and burning, something that big just doesn't go "poof" into nothing.

Yeah, It's not like I just showed up and had a little go at it, I grinded this thing for 90 mins, I too was expecting it to jump away, or at least something. Ticketed it anyways.

Capital ships aren't meant to be killable at the time, they are platforms for fighter squadrons. You could argue that fighters are like mosquitoes to them and would cause very little damage. They just leave because they are out of fighters to launch.
I think an expansion featuring player controlled capital ships are planned in the future, it would take another capital ship to destroy one. This was also shown in one of the very early ED video clips:

cap ships are rare in the elite universe and you can compare them to named npc's in other games that are essential for the storyline.
currently everyone of them has their unique name and place in the elite history and they are in such short supply that if we could kill them we would probably be able to destroy them all in a few hours.

i to hope we will be able to kill them someday, hopefully the faction navy's will beef them self up in the future.

That's a excuse for missing content, sorry.

The issue isn't being able to kill them as they aren't designed to be destroyable at the moment, the issue here is if someone has the energy (and time) to gets its health down it should probably jump out at 25% rather than sit about at 0% invincible.
Just an oversight nothing more.

If they're not designed to be destroyable why does their health go down?? Surely they knew someone would go to enormous effort to kill it after seeing the health can drop.

Destructible capital ships were never going to be in the release. The fact you can take out components on the capital ships is a bonus.

In Battlefield nobody complains that you can't take out a destroyer with an assault rifle...

That analogy does not make sense given this situation.

The cap ship entity was made and appears to be relate-able to other ships, except is doesn't move... It has hull points, weapons, modules... What is the point of all those things if they can be targeted and damaged (seemingly) if you in fact cannot interact with them at all?

This is missing content, give FD time to figure out the mechanics/what they want to do with these events to make them matter.

Does the destroyers health go down?

Because I assumed I would get a cash reward for it, like you do for taking out its heat jumps and it jumping away.

I made sure it wasn't at 0.04 or something, I attacked it while it was at zero for a good 10 mins, each other percent only took about 2 mins.

Again, I don't think its a bug, I've ticketed it anyway but I think its just another in a long list of incomplete content.

Does the 50k just show up in your balance? I've destroyed all it's sinks a few times now, I didn't see any sort of messages about getting paid...

OMG, if you attack the heat sinks without actually hitting the capital ship, you can blow them all up without anyone going hostile towards you. Total fail, FD. ;)

At best you can route them. It's pretty dumb, I know.

To be honest, I was hoping that no one had managed to kill one yet, but it seems you've destroyed that hope.

Come on, use your imagination! Just close your eyes and imagine how cool it would have been to see the thing exploding and how they would have sang your praises and giving you the tidings of the gods. Bask in that vision. Because without a roleplaying imagination of fun and enjoyment, this is the wrong game for you. Try Star Citizen

The real bug is that you got its health down to 0 percent. It should be able to slap you away like a mosquito.

Honestly that makes a lot more sense. Those things are freaking huge; I guess a good analogy would be trying to move a mountain by squirting it with a garden hose. Did I say good analogy? My bad, i meant weird.

I came across the FNS Medusa at Kappa Fornacis.
Not only did she have numerous escorts, but her batteries could target me at over 5km, to my 3 km range.
I got away with 33% hull thanks to it being a Military composite, my thrusters were under 20% and my power plant was at 5% ?!?
They seem to have a bit bigger teeth now.

If something is designed to not be destroyed...

1. That's a terrible idea in a game about "doing what you want"

and

2. Don't give it health to begin with.

Really?

Did anyone here really think for a moment that we, the players, could totally destroy unique trillion credit vessels in a universe that has a grand total of less then 40 of said vessels scattered over several thousand systems, and that's high balling the estimate.

Why have bosses that run away to be fought again later on in the story.

The ships being indestructible does not prevent the player from attempting to disable said ship.

Christ its like pulling teeth. Whats next, are we going to get upset that the game has to be played to progress?
