Just lost my newly bought ASP to 400Cr bounty due to accidently hitting SystemSec

Well, shooting at a Wanted Cobra with my just bought ASP, hit one of the Security ships by accident. I noticed the 400Cr bounty on me and thought "Well, I gonna pay that when I dock. No problem."

Then I arrived at the station, request docking, docking granted, I approach the letterbox and get scanned. Suddenly the station opens fire on me and blows me to bits in 3 seconds, no chance to react to it.

Now I am short 40k Cr to rebuy my ASP and actually close to purging Elite from my HDD.

Is this really intended? For lousy 400 credits bounty cuz I hit one Security ship for a split second with my Lasers? This sucks QQ

Wiped the save and made new Commander...

If you ever come across "CMDR I once had an ASP", say Hello, will ya... >_<

If you get a bounty, you should either sneak into station like a marmot, or go to an outpost to pay it.
Outposts have no scans.
Tho being shot for 400cr is just plain .

It's Christmas, can I have my ship back please :(

Shooting the Security was my fault, no doubt. But I honestly didn't know that there doesn't seem to be any threshold to when the station will just simply blow you up.

400 credits? Really? :/

You did keep enough money to pay the insurance, right?
RIGHT?

He said he was short on the insurance. I find it hard to believe that someone would come to the forum, admit to not having insurance money and strolling past station gate guns with a bounty, and talk of rage quit. Boggle. You didn't lose your Asp because you hit a System Security guy, you lost it because you made bad decisions.

I hate to say it but it's kind of your fault. I know it's kind of to get a bounty for a random shot but you should never fly a ship you can't afford the insurance on. A lot of people rush to buy a new ship without bothering to save up a little extra to cover insurance. The last ship I bought was a Lakon Type 6. I had more than double the credits needed to buy it. It's always better to be safe than sorry.

I was on a trade run and jumped a random USS for lulz.

Sooo, loosing 6 million credits for a 400 credits bounty seems okay with you people?
Genuinely curious. To me that sounds way overboard.

And yea, if this is an intended game mechanic, I'll probably just play something else. What's it to you? Be happy, another carebear gone, right? :p

Rule 1 of elite, always keep enough in the bank to cover insurance. Coming on here after losing all your progress to something you knew could happen is a bit silly, isn't it?

You sucked at the game. Load her up and start again. You might be more careful next time! Or don't, go play something else....

the authorities don't shoot you for the 400 credits, they shoot you because you have a wanted status saying that you illegally shot at someone.

I have done this, accidently shot Security when fighting a "Wanted" ship then have all the security on my back side, maybe there should be a "you can hit them once policy and get a warning to be careful" but do it again then you get fined.

Accidents do happen.

See, that's my point. I didn't know that they would shoot me for a 400cr bounty.
And in times with massive spaceships I do expect a station to see that the bounty is only 400 credits and not shoot me for this kind of peanuts.

Oh well, guess most people seem to be fine with this kind of harsh punishment.

Usually, we make mistakes and learn from them while flying cheap ships. Starting combat with a 6M+ ship is... Dangerous. Because Elite: Dangerous is all about losing tons of money in unknown game mechanics.

That's unfortunate; but yes, that's an intended game mechanic. And usually, you find that out while still flying a Sidewinder or an Eagle. Maybe a Viper or a Cobra. Not a big deal. Usually.

Sooo let me get this straight...

You were happily doing a trade run in your new asp (breaking her in if you will)
and for a laugh you decide to drop into a USS...
In said USS there is a wanted ship and a fed sec ship...
You decide to engage the wanted ship and accidently hit the fed ship in the process earning an INTENDED bounty (yes it is an intended game mechanic if you hit a non wanted ship to earn a bounty)

You then choose to dock at the station and in the process of doing so get scanned an obliterated (yes if you are wanted and get scanned in the process of docking this CAN happen and it is intended that way from what I have seen)

Now you come here hoping to get your asp back??? considering what you did, really you brought it on yourself :p have you not lost a ship before through stupidity? I know I have

No, I want you to stay. But ....

Lets stipulate that you lost the Asp due to a bug or poor game design, I won't debate that.

But you should take responsibility for the fact that you lost all the equity you had in that Asp because of the poor decision you made in not having the insurance money. Plus the sillyness of stopping for combat in the middle of a trade run.

Whatever the rebuy cost was on that Asp and whatever cargo you were carrying is all you should have lost.

Continue to play, learn from this horrible mistake, and don't repeat it.

In my opinion it simply doesn't make sense.
Either I get a fine and the chance to pay it or I am simply wanted and get punished with being shot down.

And I had this once before in a Cobra and I wasn't shot by the station I paid my fine at. Guess I was just lucky the first time, huh? -.-

Edit: I was willing to take responsibility and pay my fine. I already said that I consider hitting the Sec-ship as my mistake. Alas I had no chance to do so.
