I can't believe some aren't bored with this game

I cant believe it's not butter ....

OK you win the internets tonight, made me spill my drink! :D

I've been seeing the same arguments over on the STO forums. I'm happy with Eilte as it stands as I acknowledge its still a work in progress, embryonic if you will (and I apologise if I spelt that wrong). It can only get better

Sounds like the original poster needs to get laid.

I'm the wrong side of 40 with a career, a family, pension plans, cars on the drive (zzzzzzzzzzz....). I only have the time to dabble in ED, I already know I'll never attain the best and most expensive ships in game because being successful in real life is far far more important than being uber in a fake world.

ED is serving it's purpose at the moment as an hour or two of escapism at a time; it's that sort of game. If you are going to 'work' at it and put in 20+ hours a week then more fool you.

Instead of playing chess you could make it on piece of paper too...why do people buy that chess grid then? It helps with imagination... There is no better game then ED trying to recreate the milky way. Its all we got. Either you like it or not. I prefer ED "running around apartment". ;-)
Last ... be patient... maybe they improve the game in the future if they have enouh money... I hope.

There is a 60 page thread for Elite D on NeoGaf, which would most likely indicate this game isn't only appealing to bored, aimless 40 year olds, but hey...

I could say the same... :)
But there are people "earning 25kk in one day" (meaning they havd to play ca. 15h/day)... no wonder they get bored quite fast.... ;-)

Im still loving it and think it has a world of potential. If development continues as has been promised the possibilities are endless. However, if I play Devil's Advocate I could understand someone getting a bit tired of the content.

* The stations really do need more life (for one) as right now they just feel very very dead.
* I really enjoy the news feeds, but if you're nowhere near the systems in question you're bang out of luck.
* The NPC ships say the same silly lines in the middle of combat and half the time the comments dont fit the situation e.g. threatening me when their hull is 5% :)
* There are no ferry missions or crew to hire - I know its on the cards, see comment above about development continuing...
* Most importantly the dark/unlit display in-between the pilot legs is really out place and makes absolutely no sense o_O

Thats exactly what games should be like for a 40 year old person. Happy for you.

Spending half the post insulting a class of people doesn't help much. There's a huge amount to do in the game already. It may be true that it is at this point in a foundational stage but the flight model and combat are excellent and tend to provide a lot of fun with friends, the galaxy itself is impressive (the nebulae in particular), and on the whole the systems are deep enough that you can almost always find ways to learn and improve how you use them. The foundations alone provide a great many hours of enjoyment to a lot of people, the content on the other hand is more preliminary at this stage.

I don't care for roleplay, nor am I the type to engage in any additional imaginative input into my games, but simply approaching the game sensibly is a good way to avoid boredom. Don't turn it into a grind, try to experience variety, and don't play too much unless you are enjoying it just that much.

So the people who enjoy the game have sad and empty lives with nothing better to do. What does that make the people who spend time writing huge forum rants about it? ;)

He wrote a wall of text for something that can be summed up in one sentence.

"I am a cool and succesfull young guy who earns "five figures a month" while you 40+ loosers in your middle age crisis are all wrong and you are just wasting your time here in this game where everything
is sooo boring that it will fail because I am the voice of the majority "-40" people and we must have the same taste and needs so I felt the need to write a huge wall of text about it with little contet just to be/look smart."

I am sorry OP... I have read the whole text but Its just the "same" short daily rant/troll post" made long just to look something worth to read.

If this forum was 18+, we'd have half of these 'I'm sooo bored.' threads.

No you wouldn't because if something is not fun people see it as boring whatever age they are. If all people wanted was a simulator they have dozens already to chose from.

Merry xmas to you.

I paid 60 pounds sterling... erm, or maybe its these new fangled Euros... whatever. If I only got a months play from the game i'd consider it money well spent. I've spent more for less in the past.

As it is, even if there was no more content to be added, i've already got a few months of play from the game, and i anticipate at least another few months without problem. In other words, money well spent.

If things go ahead like FD hope for, then this game is going to last me years.

And you know what? When Fronter came out, despite its bugginess, and despite its lack of depth, i played that for months solid. Then First Encounters came out, and i played that for months... and months.... and months... and years. And frankly speaking, FFE is nothing in comparison with ED.

Add in the stories that FD can inject into the game, and i truly believe we are golden for years to come.

Yes, they made some mistakes, and yes, its not going to be to everyone's taste. But for me, this game is simply bleedin awesome.

I've been playing for some time,

BORING, insulting wall of text from a kid who knows how the world works.

Thanks

New accounts should definately linked to game accounts and moderated to keep the kiddie trolls at bay.

Also maybe have people's age and real name at the end of their post. May lighten the insult:

This game sux. You old men don't know how to enjoy a computer game, cod is way cooler.
Timmy, aged 12 1/2

Zach, aged 42.9

Profession... Well, what can I say. This is a perfect example of a "not everything right in the head" person.
People, take this as an extreme example, of what I was saying in the OP about pathetic lives of midlife crisis people, and try not to become like him.

Perhaps you need to enjoy that amazing life of yours outside the game, and the forums.

Live and let live. But preferably nowhere near me.

Confirmation bias, also called myside bias, is the tendency to search for, remember, or interpret information in a way that confirms one's beliefs or hypotheses.

Although the OPs post echoes what many players are feeling right now toward ED, it also reinforces the fact that you can be 23, have success (if that is true of course) in life, and still be an immature and petulant teenager in the head.

There really is no other way to say it.. a mature person would not have said what they did in that post.. enjoy your "5 figures a month" OP.. I'm sure you're far too busy and important to devote any time to ED anyway right? This community won't miss your position or attitude. KTHBYE
