How true! This YouTuber gets it!

It has nothing to do with being "cinematic".

The trailer paints the game as a frenetic action shooter and that's plainly not true. A more paused trailer, also highlighting exploration and trading, would be more truthful to ED, but I guess that wouldn't sell the game so well.

It has *everything* to do with cinematic... because that is what the trailer is. A cinematic trailer.

Take Blizzards trailers... they have absolutely NOTHING to do with the gameplay. Yet I don't see people moaning about them.

I think that players interested in the exploration and trading side of it will find it anyway. Trailers are just designed to look and sound cool to catch your attention so you then look it up. While they give a round idea of what the game involves (in this case, space and lasers). They are generally not designed to represent actual gameplay.

I actually recall one I saw not too log ago which was a big CGI battle, and at the end it turns out ifs for a 2d phone game. :D

How true!

Faker than Top Gear :D

At 2:37 I laughed out loud :D

ED is a game that I'll keep on playing. Hopefully FD will keep on working at it.

This was most likely the last time I backed a game in KS. Paid 300 pounds and although I had some fun, I didn't have 300 pounds worth of fun :).

echoed.

Undoubtedly a great future for ED. Right now though, duller than a duller thing on planet bleedin' dull. So much to do to get to where DB wants it to go.....great vision for sure......................but, not just yet.

It's a trailer. They exist to entertain, to get the hype increased and advertise the game. It's not a video-summary.
So stop the hypocrisy, this is what trailers do - from the movies to video games.

Moral of the story... if you buy a game based on a cinematic trailer, you're a muppet. There is, was, and has for months been plenty of info on what this game actually was. Do some freaking research before you spend your money you impulsive twits.

That said it was a funny video and I laughed, despite enjoying this game knowing damn well going in that it was Elite: Harmless Space Trucker

I am confused. Tonight I got interdicted and barely made it out alive, soon after a ship exploded in the entry to the hanger.

how is frame shift driving from one empty system to another a demonstration of combat in the game?

Relax little children the vid was clearly comedy. Funny as hell too. However the vid creator makes a solid point that most people have missed.
We all love ED. It's amazing. It's the dream game.
But FD's launch trailer doesn't reflect this. IMO the trailer was ludacris and is falsely selling something that the game isn't. Too the wrong audience as well.
It's one of the worst trailers I have ever seen for a game. IMO.

I dont normally watch trailers but I cant think of any trailer that is accurate.

hell for that matter the ED trailer might has well had been an Eve trailer

Am I a bad person because I laughed my ass off? Just a light hearted poke at the industry in general.. they all do it. Nobody would have gone to see the Lord of the Rings movie it they actually promoted it as a 3hr epic of long distance endurance walking :D

Ouch! With all the nerfs going on I was starting to feel a bit ****** off for spending £50 on the beta. At £300 I would be a real sad puppy!

Yeah, Jeez. The beta was way too much for me.

But then £30 for a game is pretty much the absolute max I will spend.

But then I see people shovel huge amounts of money Sony's way for Planetside 2, we're talking £1000 sort of ballpark. Brain asplode, especially as it's a very kind free to play, you don't have to pay a penny for it to enjoy it.

Also, the OP's youtube was funny as hell. :)

Though the first time I saw a conflict zone in ED, with the cap ship warping in, I was pretty impressed.
