Next year in December, we´ll walk on planets!

I'm sure the time will fly by. There's plenty to do right now, and it is nice to have something to look forward to. Since the planetary landing module will require extensive beta testing, I wonder how they will select who will be in on the planetary landing beta?

IIRC, David Braben said in one of the interviews, that they could do planetary landings right now, but it would be monotonous, empty and boring. Not something they're aiming for.
Don't remember which interview, sorry

If it would be empty in comparison to the universe then DAJUM that would be some empty planets :p

I'm honestly less excited about walking around on planets than I am about walking around on my ship and in space stations, having multi-crew ships and having some face-to-face social tools.

Couldn't give a damn about walking on a planet, what next Call of Duty Elite Dangerous. Elite is a space trading/exploration and combat game.

I would rather have a way to edit myself and my ship. How about a way to edit yours and your ships skin, that would personlise the game more and the ability to loom from the outside.

i want to kill thargoids face to face. And explore and kill enemy soliders...oh yes im excited. However im more excited for more capital ships

I'm looking forward to outlandish feats of aerobatic prowess buzzing mountain tops, flying inverted beneath waterfalls, slamming side on into buildings while drunk. Should be fun.

That won't happen, since they need to sell ship "skins" for money. The game doesn't have a monthly subscription, so they need that. Furthermore, this can be abused. You can be sure that there's people who put pr0n on their ships... You really don't want your players encountering ships in the game with pr0n painted on them.

However, what I would welcome, is a system like that of CSGO, where people create their own skins, submit them, and if they are approved, people can buy them.

Hi can someone tell me if I would be able to run ED on my pc with Intel i3 dual core 3240 3.4ghz, Gtx 750 TI 2gb graphics card and 16gb ram. I know the specs say quad core cpu! Just wondered if anyone had tried a dual core pc???
Thanks guys

Hilarious, dude just picked a random thread to ask this in.

Yeah, bro. You're good to go.

That's just asking to have ships flying around with male genetalia painted all over them...

I personally am torn on the idea of planetary landings, I mean I like Kerbal space program for this very aspect, getting a craft to another body in one peice, but when you get there you realize it is just a barren empty rock with random topography.

it sounds like it could be a great concept but it doesn't really lend to the space experience, even if they had a million developers i doubt they could make unique planet content spanning the entire galaxy if i'm optimistic about the idea i can see landing areas in the same number that there are orbital stations with maybe more or maybe less variety.

going down to a planet is only gunna be really cool if there is something down there to do or get. but don't let me sound like a pessimistic sour , I'll see what they can do with it and if it seems like it'll add some extra depth to the game then ill buy the expansion. if not ill simply be content with what is already there.

if i had to be truly honest i'd prefer they spend more time making the game a really decent multiplayer space sandbox than focus on an aspect that could be an entire game in its own right.

How about ED becomes one big game that makes all other games redundant?
So you land on this distant primitive planet, get out, and find you are in something like Skyrim with a whole beautiful world to explore and fight dragons in.
Then land on the next planet to find its a post apocalypse game like Fallout or Stalker where you can find rare anomalies that are worth a fortune back in the ED Universe.

Life on board your ship could become more interesting as well as you find amongst the cargo you just bought is an "Alien" that you have to hunt down before it hunts you down.

At least at the space stations we could have a disco like in Vampire Mascarade where you can dance with other commanders you have just been flying against, (then maybe you can drink their blood).
