COMBAT: The Most Annoying Things (List)

Hi,
I have compiled some of the most annoying things ever that takes the fun out of Elite Dangerous. I hope something can be done about it.

1. NPC jumps away under 10% hull
2. Get ONLY 800Cr for killing Elite Cobra (My repairs costed 7000+)
3. Ships ramming head on (Almost seems on purpose)
4. Annoying NPCs and CMDRs "hogging the target" (Impossible to fire without them hit)
5. Multicannon and Beam (Those are great weapons, but silly ships are barging into the line of fire, guess what happens next?)
6. Feds barging in and stealing kills
7. NPC barging in and stealing kills
8. CMDRs barging in and stealing kills (My personal hate)
9. Bug: Getting wanted for shooting at wanted ships
10. NPC ships asking for cargo when I have none, then firing at me
11. Ships attacking me are clean (Not Anarchy)
12. Shooting back at ship shooting at you and getting Wanted

I've noticed some NPC's arent affected by disruption in mass when they FSD. he will run and I'll receive a warning that they are doing the same. I will be 500m away from them and they FSD away as if I wasn't. If I was to attempt the same I would get a disruption of 18 and not be able to FSD for another 25 seconds..

13 shooting at target and a security ship crosses your line of fire, you hit it by accident just once and then end up with a bounty, how about a bit of leeway like maybe 5 or 6 hits before the fine kicks in

Yep. It gets worst with projectiles such as multicannons or constant beams such as beam laser

1. They would be mad not to wouldn't they? Wouldn't you do this? Try targeting their sub modules such as the power plant.
2. Perhaps he only had carried out a minor infringement of the law. It would be unrealistic for every ships to have a mega bounty. Select your bounties carefully or stay in your targets blind sport. Fly wiser. Buy better shields, and use your power management to better effect.
3. Use your vertical thrusters and boost to stay out of the way.
4. Use your vertical thrusters to increase your angle of attack.
5. Perhaps they are finding it hard to hit the target because you are "hogging the target", see your number 4. ;-) Also if they are authority ships they are the law, not you, they have right of way. This is just experience, you get better at spotting them.
6. See 5, they are the law.
7. Really? I think this has been changed if you land even minor damage now you end up getting the bounty...I think this is to easy now.
8. Welcome to the galaxy, what comes around goes around. There are plenty of hunting places you shouldn't be bumping into commanders to much unless you want to. Fly somewhere else, find a quiet spot.
9. Welcome to local politics, check the faction of the wanted ship. If he belongs to the controlling local faction you are shooting one of their mates. Even if hes wanted they don't like that. We don't want bounty hunting to be to easy.
10. Not all NPC pirates have cargo scanners, same as some CMDR Pilots.
11. Well done they decided to start their piracy career on you......or they are carrying out a mission.
12. Did they manage to hit you before you hit them back?

duplicating, just because I don't know which one of the lists will eventually get deleted ...

I wondered about these claims that ships are ramming you head on ... In my experience, when they were ramming me head on, I was actually doing the same to them : I was at full speed, possibly even boosting, aimed directly at the opposing ship. If nobody yields then both parties are at fault. As Dakron Nova said : a bit of vertical thrusters does wonder at 1) avoiding a collision and 2) get a nice view of the other ships underside

Horrible list.

NPC's have every right to escape if possible. If you only get 800 cr for the bounty, why are you risking 7000 in repairs? Thats totally on you.

Weaving bird you just like to complain and make a short list much longer to have a twine. But here's some points how to be more strategic: -
1. Use Target sub-systems and take out their FSD (yes they don't seem to be affected by your mass to charge jump when we do)
2. That Cobra may not have been considered much due to circumstance.
3. Avoid getting rammed. It is a good tactic when you are low of charge or no ammo - ramming a Clean/Police gets you Wanted!
4,5,6,7,8. Use Vertical Thrust to get better angles on targets. You are not the only important person in the universe.
9. You provoked him to be a Wanted when he was Clean or you are in Anarchy system or you have low rep with systems Faction. Do more playing and rewards increase.
10,11,12. In USS and other ships either Clean/Wanted and ask your cargo why stay around to even find out? Run or make them wanted by getting a hit from them so you can fight like a man. Everybody is Clean in Anarchy - it is lawless but Police can help and even kill you! Police are not trusted. Stay away from Anarchy unless you like to be a Pirate.
This is a life/space sim. Grow up in life and you will find this out.

To all those people saying NPC should hyperjump away, I agree. I would do the same. But when I am right behind their thrusters trying to bring their shield down to get rid of the last 10%, they are MASS LOCKED to me how the hell do they jump away so fast??? Even I can't jump so fast without being massed locked

1. I find it impossible to target their sub system
2. Maybe... :(
3. I didn't get rammed by my target, I got rammmed by an Imperial Clipper from the bottom-front
4-8. Yeah I know, but it is frustrating right?
10-12. Was a bug

Anyways, it is sort of a complaint. I was just saying that this makes the game less fun and i some cases unrealistic. It would be nice if there was a workaround.

Anyways, this is not a hate post. It is more of a list of the things that makes the game experience less entrancing. The goods in this game still outweighs the bad. It is just the little bugs that need to get tuned or get explained in more detail.

Hi,

1. NPC jumps away under 10% hull

Been there, seen it, the most amusing was a cobra, I manage to get it down to 0% hull and it jumped away, a second after the jump sequence started, the explosion animation started so I got to see an explosion moving at high speed and no bounty.. hey ho... for that one case it was worth it.. for all the others...

Did you see him get ejected :p

To be honest, if the ship is down to 10% hull and you can't take down the shields and remove the final 10% within the normal FSD charge time I would suggest and upgrade of your weapons.

Out of the three times I have died, twice has been due to being rammed by an Asp. I have B class thrusters, all pips to weapons, 1 each to system and engines, in the blue and had down thrust on max and he definitely swerved to ram me.

The rest is by design.

1. Destroy his frameshift drive or be close to him and slow down his charging.
2. Check how much the bounty is before killing something, jeez.
3. They're either scanning you, or YOU is going head on with them, not them going head on with you.
4. Use your flying skills to get closer to the target and try not to fire at the other ships, it's not that hard
5. Again, use your skills (if you have any) to prevent you firing at other ships
6. If that happen to you, its because you let them. I've so and say almost done 100% bounty hunting the last 7 days and this have yet to happened to me.
7. Post Over /\
8. I actually kinda agree on this one, but its not a huge problem if you bounty hunt in non-player hubs
9. Buggy bugs is bugs
10. They're just pirates without a cargo scanner, they just have to hope you have cargo.
11. *facepalm* That is because they're either first time pirates or off at you because you attacked one of their allies.
12. Oh come on! You have to target him and scan him to see he is wanted before you shoot him! It's basic knowledge in Elite!

This I find particularly annoying.. Why do we get a disruption pretty much anytime anyone is in our immediate space, and an NPC who has us in their space are able to jump out in such a short amount of time?

Other systems in the game apply to npc the same as they do to real players, so Jo, I don't understand whywhat I mentioned above happens.

I also do agree that the AI shouldn't be cheating (or at least make it less obvious) I had a NPC shooting at me with gimballed autos just before jumping ... which shouldn't be possible for at least two reasons : mass lock and hardpoints deployed. I myst admit that I was off.

Most of your list can be solved by simply getting better at the game (wow). The masslock thing seems to be pretty buggy right now though. Same as empty interdictions half of the time.

1. I was right behind him, could not aim for fsd
2. Good tip
3. They were coming bottom front (I was aiming for a cobra while trying not to shoot at feds)
4. It is hard (I use gimballed)
5. It's gimballed! And multicannon with beam
6-8. CObra is great, but not that manoevarable in my opinion
9. Yup
10. Hmm that was funny lol
11. Weird thing is- they shoot at their allied wanted ship (Imperial Internal police from empire party was shooting at sidewinder from same faction)
12. It was on a pirate lord mission, when I arrived he was scanned almost immedietly

That as well, empty interdictions are still occuring frequently.

I hate to sound like one of the "complainers" who seem to get chastised on these forums simply for voicing and opinion, and I realize that ED is on the more 'complex: side of a pc game, what with the various systems and all, but it seems to me that there are a good amount of things that were either not addressed in beta, or just flat out overlooked.. Not to mention the obvious bugs still not addressed.

Some of the issues and mechanics that are in the game currently quite frankly to me seem like are there on account of a lack of true in house he testing and QA.
