Full release has turned out to be the worst gaming experience I've ever had...

Gotta feel for the OP! To often now devs or rather the guys upstairs are happy to launch a broken product with no appreciation for the time that players put into getting to certain levels. Maybe if we all started working out our hourly worth and then billing for lost time they would be less likely to release a broken product. Though obviously they cover there golden goose posteriors with a EULA. Most large games, MMO in particular are broken at release and often remain so for many months.
I doff my headset to you the pioneer that heads out and finds these bugs but nowadays it really doesn't pay to try and push the limits.
I live in hope that one day someone will come along with the money and legal ability to challenge a EULA and start the ball rolling for us gamers to take back our precious time. Until then I guess I, like most of you will have to put up with a hard drive full of games we might get back to when they are fixed. Fact is though your in bed with corporations that don't give a sh*t about your time, you've already bought the game and for them to admit that millions of systems are broken means many others might not.

That sucks. Have you ticketed your lost stats? Restoring your achievements would be a nice (and proper) gesture from FD.

Yeah I ticketed it but I think it went in too late for anyone to see it. I suspect they're all on their hols so I'm hoping it'll get looked at early next week. In the meantime I am permanently docked as anything I do, trade, combat, exploration, may make it harder for them to figure out what my original stats were and restore them.

I also don't want to die and lose all the data I acquired. So I'm hoping they can fix that issue too and let me sell it. Basically my character is in quarantine and stuck in dry dock until he's cured of all these bloody bugs :D

I feel for you.! way to go though making it to the Galactic centre, I really hope FD sort the exploration data for you, you deserve the credits no matter what happens. good luck CMDR

Just noticed this thread but I've been experiencing the same issue as Erimus and I discussed in another thread. I was near Sorbago so nowhere close to galactic center I think but I'm pretty sure the system I jumped to was bugged. Been locked out of the game for over a week. Thanks for letting me know not to expect anything until after the Christmas period. I'm going stir crazy over here and the fact that I got a HOTAS for Christmas just makes it worse.

Maybe it has been remarked already but as awful as Erimus experience was I am impressed with the amount of personalized and dedicated support he has got so far... I cant recall any other game where devs would do all that just for one player.

Re the broken systems etc it is actually great they have been spotted so early so FDEV can plan and prioritize the fix appropriately.

Eriums exploration video series is awesome so I hope he gets the fix we all need aswell to continue enjoying his "Captain's logs"!!! :D

Erimus exploration video series is indeed awesome.

For me Exploration is also main thing in this game, and i really hope Frontier invests serious time to minimize bugs like these. I feel for you, but also thank you for making tickets so they know what is broken and what is not. I'm sure core region is not the only buggy one, but that is the life of 400 billion systems.

I guess this thread is reason #347 why ED shouldn't have been rushed to a released date, just before the largest holiday of the year. :-(

What I find so amusing is that people are complaining because FD is taking time tp spend the holiday with THEIR families and not address ever little issue that is found. Cut them some slack. This is a GAME. What were you doing 2 weeks ago? Great... Go back to it, let FD have some breathing room, then come back with a clear head.

Your life does not hinge on this game. FD's employee's lives typically DO hinge on them being home for the holidays.

Did YOU work Christmas day or did you, like so many others, enjoy a 4 day weekend to spend time with loved ones?

Me? I did work, but because I chose to in order to allow other coworkers to be at home.

Just put yourself in their shoes for a bit and think about how you would have done things (without foreknowledge!) if you were in the same situation. Or better still, you take a small development company, grow it, and then release a blockbuster game, and come back and tell us about all the mistakes you didn't make.

No idea what your profession is, but think about how you would feel if David Braben started telling you how you could have done your job better when you made mistakes.

And if your job is in software development, then you should really understand how the industry is and cut them a crapton of slack.

Yeah, no complaints about game support. They did what they could with the time they had available before their Christmas break. I guess I just got unlucky with two really nasty bugs, one leading to the other. As I remarked earlier in the thread, someone has to test the extremes - especially in a game this size. So it wasn't a wasted journey. I only hope the New Year sees a fix to the broken star systems issue now that FD are aware of it.

If they fix my stats and fix the issue preventing me from the selling the data, I can get playing again and chalk this unfortunate experience down to bad luck. :)

Why should we cut them so much slack ?
What things could not have been foreseen ?
They didn't know X-mas was coming a week after release ?
They thought their release would run smoothly without a ton of support needed ?
I mean, all gamma tickets had been resolved in time before release, right ? So nothing to worry about there ?

Us customers are unfortunately not their only concern. They are not in business just to make us happy. They have investors to satisfy and must consider their financial position first.

We can't second-guess their decision because we don't have all the info. But if you're going to try you must at least consider their position and not just focus on how it impacted you as a customer. Their insistence on releasing before the end of the year is understandable: the schedule had slipped once already and they had made the commitment to both the market and their investors to do it.
