Before i report a player. tell me if this is possible or cheating

Yeah the best Cobra shields are certainly more than 500'000 credits, not sure what the exact number is. You should go for size (class) before rating as your current shield cannot support the ship's size (mass).

I intridiced a player and when we fell out of frame shift drive he was flying a sidewinder

I have the 160,000 class A shield on my cobra and I saw he was wanted so I opened fire with class 2 multi cannons

He turned and did a fly by and took out my shields and put my hull down to 37% in 3 shots, he was using the pulse lasers

He then turned for another run but I managed to escape with frame shift and lived to fight another day

He didn't collide with me and there wasn't any lag, but ive never known a sidewinder to have so much fire power

Is it possible for this to happen? Or was this some sort of cheat?

Just wanted to know before I report the player

No cheat.

They did say, you need a class 4 shield, if you check a shield stats it will give you an optimum and maximum tonnage it can shield, get the most appropriate for your vessel

So which shield would be better suited to the cobra? and how could I tell which is the best one?

Definitely a class 4 shield. Cobra comes with a 4E shield out of stock if I'm not mistaken. You should get the best class 4 that you can afford and that is supported by your other ship components, especially the powerplant.

Shild is the wrong one. A equipment for Cobra are around 1.6 mil
Question is what hull armor you have. The standard one doesn't hold much. But with a pulse laser C1 you cant get it down to 37% in 3 shots.
I guess he fired much longer on you.

Okay, so you'll need to get your map up and do a search for a high population, industrial station. Here you will find a good stock of defence and offensive equipment. As others have pointed out here, a good A Integrity Rating/shields going to knock you back 500k or so (Don't confuse these letters with Class sizes). You can stick a class 3 on a 180 ton Cobra but you really want to look at the optimal hull mass and Max hull mass ton range the shield covers. Class 3's are 165 optimal up to 413 ton maximum, then you have the power draw, the weight and the grade to think about, so it really does depend on your setup.

You may have had an Class 2 or 1 Integrity/Rating A installed, that was why it went down so quickly in a fight (you can install lower (weight) rating shields for extra jump). You can install these lower classes if you are not completely understanding what you are looking at stats wise. So, get yourself a good Class 3 for your Cobra, doesn't have to be all A rating, it'll knock you back for about 200-300k, you won't be having these problems.

How would 2 pulse lasers get his hull down so low even if he did have the wrong shields?

Because fitting a shield that is two sizes too small for the ship means it is a very very weak shield.
Also sounds like the Sidewinder knew what he was doing.
He probably had some high end burst lasers. Poof - there goes the shield.

The fact OP didn't even realise this means he's a new Cobra pilot who has come across an experienced player in a Sidewinder and has had his backside kicked.
I also doubt very much he was hit 3 times, he might have only SEEN he was hit 3 times but I bet he was hit a bit more than that.
Either that or the Sidey had different weps.

No harm in ticketing it with full details and letting the FD guys check.

Yeah, but stuff like weapon damage is done server side which is why we dont need a client patch to change it, they can do it server side.

Thats the weapon-stats you talking of. the acctual in-fight-damage surely goes p2p (maybe a hacker can change the info "i hit you with a size 1 pulse" to "i hit you with a size 3")

Exactly. Sounds to me that this was a really good pilot: able to get in close and deliver targeted hits. Likely he has some really good guns installed as well. Sometimes you get bested in a fight. Live and learn --especially about the correct shields for your ship. :)

It could have been a network delay too. What seemed like 3 shots might have been a lot more on the attackers side. And also why would someone in a cobra interdict a sidewinder unless he is a PK? I really don't care for what happened to the OP.

If you really have an A shield for cheap 160k on ya cobra, it`s no problem to drain ya shields fast. But 3 shots from class 1 pulse lasers to bring the hull down to 37% sounds strange.

I'm pretty certain Class A shields for the Cobra... need to be at least size 3... Otherwise it won't cover the mass of the ship.... and 160,000 doesn't get you Size 3 Class A shields.

*Verified... Class A3 Shields 500,000 Cr. range.

Regarding the lasers tearing into your hull like that.... Were you doing regular maintenance? Because if you don't the integrity of the hull will weaken.

It's very possible to HACK in a game like this (P2P). So yes.

Because he had a wanted status......

Dude, you just got bested by a better pilot. It happens. There's no shame in losing to a superior opponent --if you do it with grace.
