I've lost 8.5 million because of graphic issues

if it glitches up close it straight away dont try clicking on anything, frontier are on break mostly, so theres not much patching work, until we get 1.04 and 1.05 which should start after jan 5th once the staff are back at owrk, im flying cheapish and exploring basic game mechnaics for the time being and nothing to shiny

it doesn't make sense from an exploration standpoint, you want the most amount of Lightyears so you have the best fuel efficiency for the FSD since your ship is much lighter, but it's none of my business..

8.5 million credits, that was ALOT of grinding to lose.

This is why I always keep my cargo ship in a garage on a decent trade route. I explore in my upgraded Sidy. I'll buy another cargo ship when required, as it never hurts to build your little fleet.

the OP posted on the Game Discussion thread, not a bug reporting thread. no one but Frontier can help with the game problem (which occurred from the OP being killed) that was encountered and it's something I certainly hope they can help the OP out with. the OP seems to be an explorer with such expensive scanning gear and I was just giving advice on how to best go about that line of work. pigeon holing my ship is exactly what has saved my bacon many times. having a jack of all trades ride is fine in populated space but in Anarchy systems where explorers make most of their money it is prone to fail over and over again, which will cause the OP more grief. I have jumped into a system and had an entire squad of pirates bearing in on me, my saving grace being a small nimble ship. I was trying to be helpful in a manner useful to the OP. or I could just be quiet and let them die again and again.

Good to know. I've seen my in-ship screens get jarbled (text blown way up) and not able to read everything (like how much bounty my target is worth).

Surely we need an auto save feature at each docking station. Our systems are being tested as much as theirs and it needs a safe backup. Even if we chose "Save and Close" that only saves game settings - pretty useless once earning millions to lose huh. Most crashes I had are on hyperspace using SMAA on Nvidia's latest specific Elite driver!

If you were spending some money online, and the screen garbled to the point you could no longer read it, would you blindly continue with the transaction?

Edit: Yes glitches need fixing, but common sense needs to be applied as well.

Uh that is tough... i only sometimes have the glitch that my landing pad gfx disappers, sometimes i can see it shortly and remember were to dock, other times i have to fly out request again... But thanks to this thread i know now to just ragequit if i happen to have the same problem and log back in.

Gotta ask.. you're an Explorer, why the upgraded hull and weapons ? The Cobra is fast enough to run from, basicly everything in this game.

It's not worth the cash if it gets you killed. that's a big heavy ship for the purpose of exploring. all the military composite in the world isn't going to save you from a nimble pirate. some upgrades are ok as they make your ship lighter but others are just brutal for weight penalties.
i'm in a sidewinder with only upgraded alloy bulkheads (other armours are too heavy), A2 thrusters, A1 power distributor, A2 FSD and D1 power plant (the D1 is really light). the ship manoeuvers well enough against gimballed weapons and I have a chaff dispenser for missiles. and no weapons or cargo racks onboard so I keep it light as possible (it makes a difference). I get two very close boosts and while I can't completely outrun anything the nimbleness of it keeps a lot of hits missing long enough for me get out of it.
that Cobra in the OP is just a sitting duck. a TOUGH duck, but a duck all the same.

Gets you enough time to run away if you're shields go down. You spend 24 hours exploring, if something interesting like a pirate attack happens I wanna kill them, with enough room to get away fast. That's alot of exploration data to protect.

other than not making a sensible insurance provision i cant see how one can lose 8.5m in one hit... aah i see, clicked wrong button on insurance screen... that would be painful. a ticket and those nice ED people might sort it out!

I have, and they'd better. I dropped £50 on this game, that's more than I pay for most, and this game is supposed to be released now I shouldn't be getting stupid stuff happening with my insurance screen.

There are those that just want all the kit despite the drawbacks. Personally I bought my Asp as soon as I could. Slowly upgrading it for my needs

I started doing that, but after grinding my way though sidewinder to Asp and facing upgrades that cost up to 4.5 million (frameshift drive) it was easier to dump it all back into a Cobra and get all the exploration gear I needed. Realistically you can explore the universe in an eagle without much danger to yourself. Exploring isn't really all that interesting it's just fly and scan.

You would if you'd seen the screen before and thought "hey I remember were that button was". I'd just spend the day exploring man, and I mean THE DAY of endless warp to system, system scan, detail surface scan EVERYTHING then move on. It's mind numbing work, and somewhat akin to data entry. I was pushing myself hard to see how much I could make doing it. Then I was going to blog about it. I'd just got back to Founders World to sell my data when the station destroyed me for a 300 credit fine I don't even remember getting (how could I, I was in deep space!) :\ you try making sensible logical decisions when you're tired and extremely ticked off.

I was putting up with repeated server disconnection problems and a few game crashes as well. This game is about as stable as a sinclair c1 taking a fast turn.

Jump, scan, scan, scan, jump, scan scan CRASH... RESTART, Scan scan scan, jump, DISCONNECTION ERROR * rage * Scan Scan Scan Scan Scan.

I spend 8 frigging hours doing all that dude.

I didn't get to sell my data, I lost 8.5 million credits because of a glitches screen and I'm getting endless damn crashes. It's getting to the point where I'm going to ebay this sodding thing and play something else.
