I think there should be a small credit bonus for playing in open play

What is that 'risk' people go on about?

There is no such 'risk' to play in open mode, since you'll hardly ever meet a hostile player anyway.

That means for 99.99% of the game open mode is identical to solo mode.

does not the fact that I am constantly seeing real players in mobius and those of you in open - because pvp is so popular and good for the game - see next to no one not give you all some indication of the real issue. I play there for because my net connection makes npc combat all but impossible and pvp is a pure death sentance, even avoiding interdictions for me is damned hard, I have a good download speed yes but my latency to the amazon servers is around 400ms the rubberbanding etc is brutal. I just lost everything due to an NPC rubberbanding through my firing line causing a 200c fine and wanted, only to get scanned and by the station once I was inside and almost on the deck. playing pvp for me is an absolute no go. add this to the fact pirates want us to be friendly and drop our cargo with not a shot fired - do this and they get no record/bounty they stay clean and then the bounty hunters have no one to chase. then there are those who have the wish to keep their ingame asests in one piece because of the time it takes to repair etc for one fire fight. yep mobius group has over 1800 members and I regularly count 200 odd on at once and I see that in game. Surely this points to how the majority of people want to play, that and the fact that it seems a lot of players in open dissapear to the far reaches themselves to avoid pvp.

Only four people will get prizes, after that then what? All I'm saying is many people stick to solo to reduce a lot of the risk. Im just saying there would be more incentive to to take the risk to play in open and it would encourage more co-op.

I never really thought about that, I have a completely different opinion now. Thank you for the feedback

Considering I spend most of my time around a faction capitol I'm surprised just how rarely I actually see anyone. My experience to date is that Open and Solo are near as damn it the same thing.

What extra risk - I was on earlier and ran into a grand total of 1 player.
We both said hello and then went about our business

So no to extra money for playing open!

I see no reason to encourage people to play in open. First off, no one is going to change their play style over anything but a huge unbalancing bonus. Second, those that like open play are already playing open play.

The only way they'll ever be able to tempt the Solo players into Open would be to add a pvp toggle (that could only be used if you are not wanted, and have no bounty of course) but I dont think thats going to be the answer most of the people asking to get more people into Open are looking for, because I suspect they really just want noobs to shoot up for kicks.

I agree with OP. Players participating in Open mode should be rewarded to add to the overall multiplayer experience.

Not sure what game you're playing but, you should really try this game called Elite: Dangerous its a LOT of fun!

Noobs think this way as they are the only ones who view fighting another player as something that is unfair. They get shot up once or twice and get all bitter and say stuff like the above.

The real reason people want to play with others is that it makes the game more dynamic and interesting. I have no interest in killing new players but the lack of risk in Elite is wearing thin. A little excitement from time to time would be a welcome change.

I'll certainly switch to open then with my hotkey to do killtask EliteDangerous32.exe and also the firewall rule to block all P2P traffic :) You want me there? I can come.

Precisely the response Id anticipate from a testosterone laden internet tough guy looking for noobs to shoot up for kicks, so case in point.

Lets say 10% to encourage people to take that little bit of extra risk. I honestly think it would make the game better

I agree there should be something to entourage more players to try open, but there isn't any extra risk. There are so few players that are looking to pick on other players that you have to be really unlucky to have them find you.

Because that is essentially ganking and it's not that type of a game. It's more casual. Considering the servers weren't wiped means you'll have lost of gankers with powerful ships purposely ganking all the new players.

-1 for failing to understand Elite yet commenting on it anyway, also another person that has appointed themselves the forum police.

I'd love more people to play open, but I don't blame them for not doing so.

I've just flown from Alioth to Sol then Shinrarta to Lave and back to Alioth trading rares in my hauler. Haven't been interdicted once and just made a boat load of cash.

It shouldn't matter whether it's a PC or NPC that interdicts. But it would be good if someone did.

PS - No to the financial incentive for playing in Open. People should want to play it for the better experience.

I don't think it makes any difference, I play in solo most of the time but today have spent my time in open play in an Eagle, I have only seen 3 other players and they go in to hyperspace if I move towards them, I got killed 4 times by AI's the last by a Anaconda ramming me with 5% hull left and me 100%.

So I don't see what what the fuss is about.
