Game is too CRUEL

Thanks to the positive replies, even the flames. I'm glad it's being discussed and attention may come to others on the realities of the game mechanics.

But heed this... I'm not rage quitting. I actually, went back in the Sidey and flew around... just decided, I don't want to go through this again. Happy travelling CMDR's.

Help

Just got my Type 7. Filled with cargo and I get interdicted for the first time on my trade route, EVER! Master Viper, destroys my modules, I'm stuck and ******. Yes I had shields.

Not enough credits for insurance. Back to Sidewinder with 2900 cr.

Maybe my own fault but still... too painful. Leaving the game. Be a warning to others - time sink and every minute can be wiped in the blink of an eye. Was playing since Beta... and I refuse to waste more time. FD, you have a problem here... not that you care and probably wont see the post. I've done nothing but praise this game, I still love it, but not with this in the back of my mind. I would have rather spent some quality time with my wife. Not going back to the Sidewinder which is now starring me in the face!

Simply not worth playing anymore. Good bye CMDR's

I wouldn't want to see someone who obviously loves the game to leave due to a silly mistake, happy to donate a few 100k to your start up fund. I'm Around Lave, but send me an email and we can meet up for a cargo drop.

Cmdr 6 :)

I am glad that you are not going to quit, dont worry you will have that Lakon 7 back soon, happy adventures Commander. ;)

Insurance is there to prevent this.

Deciding to fly without the cost to cover it is your fault. How would FD "fix" this, it's one of the few things working correctly right now :p
I don't disagree with the general consensus, but it would be nice to have a mechanism to "set aside" the insurance from the cash pool so it isn't spent accidentally. The amount of "cushion" needed for a new ship is often radically more than what was habitually kept for the old ship, opening the door for a simple mistake to ruin you. I agree that the decision to take the risk of flying uninsured should be fraught with consequences, but I would prefer my fun games not to punish me for a moment of inattention.

While we're on the subject of insurance, I think it would add to the immersion (while reducing disasters such as the OP's) to add an option to get back the stock ship only for a lower insurance cost.

aaaaaand greed strikes again, haha same thing happened to me with a type 9 in the early beta, but back then it was so cheap I could get it in a days work

good luck further cmdr with your casual games that holds your hand <3

I almost lost everything today, had barely anything in the bank. Flew out of a station all cocky, turned off flight assist, slammed into an almost invisible wall. I thanked whatever spirit was watching out for me when I discovered I had just enough in combination with a 195,000 loan to get my ship replaced. Phew.

Now I just need to make about 250,000 without getting myself killed to cover the eventuality that I might get myself killed.....again.

Edit: Someone gave me neg. rep for this....Ha.

You have been playing since Beta. One part of me says " sorry for your loss, hope you decide to come back". The other part of me says " You have been playing since beta, you should know how this all works by now. You gambled and you lost. Please try again."

dying & insurance

OK, so am i right in saying that if you don't buy the insurance, you can't just save your place and come back to it.

I expect I won't be able to put a huge amount of time in playing as I have 2 jobs & a family to look after too, and so don't want to be penalised with this. What about net-lag, I could get killed without even knowing I had if the server drops or similar.

Newbie, used to play old Elite back in the day.......

This game is everything but cruel or difficult... will the whining ever stop?

You're obviously not reading or just don't understand. Regardless, enjoy the game.
It's going to happen to you and for sure, you'll be keeping it to yourself. No whining, just a decision not to play.

You pay for the insurance AFTER your ship is destroyed. You can also take a loan up to 200k if you don't have enough money. If the insurance value is above 200k, you're doomed.

i would like to add when you hit the number 4 on you keyboard you see rebuy that is the cost if your ships gets pop if you cant keep what it says in saving you losing your ship is on you

This is just crazy... all the people complaining about lost ships and then not having insurance. If you don't have enough money to buy your ship, upgrade, and have enough left over for insurance, then you aren't ready to upgrade yet IMHO. The Elite galaxy is a dog eat dog world folks... gotta have enough to cover your insurance.

Keeping in your bank 2/3 times the value of the insurance cost It's just a matter of common sense that has nothing to do with game difficulty or game flaws.

Or just don't trade in your previous ship when buying a new one. It's a great way to have a "savings account" that you can't accidentally dip into. Get greedy and get toasted with no insurance - oh well dang, back to the part fitted out Cobra for me! Back to the Viper! Back to the Hauler! Nice and easy if you don't want to not touch the cash when looking at that ohhhhh so tempting upgrade that dips you below your insurance cost. All quite manageable, and all your own choices.
