WOW moment #2 - type 6

I had my first VR WOW moment when I tried Elite with the DK2

I read it a few times here, but was like "yeah yeah". But today I traded in my full kitted Cobra to a Type 6 and had a WOW WOW moment again. thats the ultimate experience until now - the size, the view, the everything.

So bye bye cobra and welcome space truck simulator. At least for a while.

I urge everyone to try this experience just once if you can. Go go.

And then the question for everyone else who are ahead of me - is there a 3rd WOW moment waiting in one of the other ships?

I know exactly what you are talking about - had this happen to me in Beta ... when i've got me a Lakon Type 6 - switching from a Cobra as well - and then sitting in this cockpit, surrounded mostly by glass - left, right, above and below ... taking off, flying out of the station and into space - what a majestic view experience, i got goose bumps. And landing that bird, you can look down nicely towards the landing pad until you hit the ground ... you're right, great !

Damn you for teasing me!! Missing 3 million or so for the Asp.

Is it even worth it as replacement for the type 6? Or should it be seen as a mix of Cobra with the 6 so I can get back in combat again? (The combat is still the most exciting part of the game imho, but it doesnt scale)

It wasn't a "wow" moment after you've gotten used to Type-6. When I got DK2 and rode Type-6 for the first time - it was jaw-dropped. And I just bought ASP, it doesn't feel same experience I had with Type-6.

Wow moments are few and far between the more you play, but I can honestly say that everytime I put on the DK2 and start flying I burst out into a big grin... I got my DK1 and Alpha 1 back in Jan and I'm still just as enthused...
My latest wow moment came this morning though...

I'd just started out for the day in a stock cobra and got interdicted by a pimped out clipper. I'm a fair pilot and took him down to 50 percent shields without incurring any damage, but at this point he became aggressive and so I decided to best him at his own game and ram him! I was full pips to the shields and his were down, but when we smashed together it made one hell of a bang! I swear I ducked! I was left with a mangled ship and 4% on my hull, but he was pieces floating all around me! My windshield was smashed down the middle and I could only see the data on the glass that was intact, smoke was everywhere and I had only five minutes to get back to a station! I made it with a minute to spare, but it was awesome!

I lost my windshield yesterday, it was also awesome ! Especially because I needed to stand up to see the hud throught the glass that was intact ! I did not know it will work, I just did it instinctively !
Another wow for me :)

Yepper !!!! Tried the Lakon 6 with the OR today.... It made me laugh out loud with pleasure. This is by far my favorite cockpit in the game so far... I will say that with the co-pilot seat in the cobra mark III I was really wishing I could hook up another OR to my PC and take a friend for a demo drive.... That would be a great feature to add....or maybe to take a friend with his own OR from wherever,...just pick him up in whatever station he is in... That would be so cool !

I agree about the Lakon and the OR... but I have to wonder why it has a 15 foot high glass bubble for the cockpit window.

I loved the T6 in the rift so much that upgrading to an ASP was a difficult decision.

The ASP wasn't quite the initial wow, but it's like looking out a huge bubble. Start saving this credits....

Got 7.8m now - so _could_ buy a stock ASP and have 1m for trading in it. But I've read several posts that one needs to pimp the ASP with at least 10m in upgrades before its worth anything.

My minimum requirement though to start with would be to swap places with the Type 6. So having around 100 cargo space, no shields, no weapons, good FSD. Can someone with an ASP please look up what some cargo racks and a C or B class FSD drive would cost me? (hugs)

Ahhh -thanks! Gives a good idea of expenses. I can strip down the ASP and then upgrade it for roughly 500k to be "equal" to the type 6 as a truck. Sounds like I'm ready to go soon! :-D

Small wow this time. Fantastic machine this ASP. Incredible view in dogfight, great multi-cannon mounts, the sound is the best.

Got greedy and visited a fed (*spit*) station to turn in 150k worth of bounty that I've accumulated over the last weeks with the kill scanner.

The ASP did some weird move and drifted like crazy trying to hit the letterbox, banged against the wires, spun around. I was stuck in the wiring and trying to wriggle my way out of it all when the timer expired or something and I got fried like a toast. 350k insurance and lost the 150k bounty.

So beware if you drive this beast - drifts like crazy!!!!

A cracking WOW moment. Not for me, for the wife.
You know it's immersive when she walks in the door at 6 oclock and I'm sat in the pitch black, monitors off.

I had no idea.

Not sure who laughed harder. Her or the kids.

Geek factor now officially off the scale.

just upgraded to a cobra with the intent of saving up for the type 6. Only 600,000 to go, although I'm enjoying the cobra at the moment...

I had the same WOW factor when I bought my Type 6.. Now I HATE it.. Now the Cobra is my go to for DK2 experience.. While the Type 6 has huge glass windows, they are still far away from you.. So roaming in space isn't actually cool in Type 6.. Only in stations where you get vertigo.. Cobra has the best view when cruising around imo :)
