Radio Milky Way

Hallo fellow commanders,

As a space trucker/explorer I like to hear some neat relaxing music while supercruising to the next star system and while the music in ED is really good, I like to mix it up 'cause listening to the same 3 tracks for a whole evening....just....nah.
So I thought to myself that there must be many other fellow truckers and explorers who share my love for the right music to cruise the milky way.

I would like to share with you a few tracks that I think really set the mood for space travel and fit the view of a sunrise over Saturn viewed from it's icy rings. So here goes:

- Faunts - Instantly Loved ( Set Transition Remix)
- Carbon Based Lifeforms - Central Plains
- Carbon Based Lifeforms - MOS 6581
- Carbon Based Lifeforms - Silent Running
- Carbon Based Lifeforms - Arecibo
- Carbon Based Lifeforms - System
- Carbon Based Lifeforms - Held Together By Gravity
- Carbon Based Lifeforms - VLA
- Carbon Based Lifeforms - Inertia
- Carbon Based Lifeforms - Interloper
- Carbon Based Lifeforms - Supersede
- Carbon Based Lifeforms - Init
- Carbon Based Lifeforms - Frog
- Carbon Based Lifeforms - Euphotic
- Carbon Based Lifeforms - M
- Carbon Based Lifeforms - Abiogenesis
- Eric Serra - Leeloominai
- Faunts M4 (Part I)

And here some other artists:
- Aes Dana (especially the album Aftermath)
- Solar Fields

These are really great electronic space tracks. Just make sure to check out the rest of those artists albums. If not you could always listen to the Blue Danube Waltz. I still do , classics never get old.

I hope I could share with you some of my love for this game.

See you round the milky way.

Yeah that would be a nice feature. As a matter of fact I think that the sim could use some more radio chatter, in fact any radio chatter.

So far I've heard the soundtracks to Bastion, FTL Faster Than Light, and Starbound are all apparently pretty popular. I also like to put on songs from Cowboy Bebop and Firefly, but I haven't heard anyone else review it for this game yet.

When mining, nothing fits better than Louis Armstrong; especially perfect for it is "La Vi En Rose".

I've yet to try it or hear any results on it, but what about soundtracks from popular action-rpgs?

I imagine for space trucking a good set of country tracks might be appropriate.

I fully support the idea of a Radio Milky Way with DJs and the like. It's too bad we can't have a group comms in-game to work basically like an IRC for RMW though.

On the note of having in-game radio chatter, I imagine chatter each for the three major factions, and then maybe an independent chatter of some kind. What would be the best is if players could set up their own radio stations, but even in the remote chance that Frontier adds a radio to the game, it's highly unlikely.

I am having troubles finding just the right music for exploration though.

Reporting back, thanks for Carbon Based Lifeforms, I am enjoying them thoroughly.

Glad to be of assistance. Be sure to check out Aes Dana. Their music is like Carbon Based Lifeforms just more rythmic. Think of Carbon Based Lifeforms as the night and Aes Dana as the day. I think the best album to enjoy space flight is Twentythree from CBL.

Ooh, first track in the list and it's gregorian chant. +rep to you good sir.

Barber's Adagio for Strings gives me goosebumps everytime I hear it and Relic did a terrific job of mixing it into the Goa trance of Homeworld. That wind up engine sounds every time the cutscene begins with a wuh wuh wuh wuhhhhh.
