I while back it was announced that players that were able to play as late in development as Beta i believe would gain free access to 1 of 5 new ships after the game was released (correct me if i'm wrong on this). I'm wondering how much longer it will be until we gain access to these ships. I assumed it would happen when the game was released but clearly not.
What happened to free access to 1 of 5 new ships?

That access was 'when the ships are released at a date to be announced post-release' so they aren't out yet,.

We got scammed according to newsletter 54# we have had all our ships. We had a post about this before and they closed it as people started talking about refunds since they hadn't got what they said they would on realease Not when it suited them FD.
I wouldn't hold your breath on getting anything any time soon. They had initially endeavored to have 25 ships at release and we got 15 and these were announced before the so called extra 5.
We stil haven't had The art book yet. (They did say we would get this before the holiday but has not been pushed back to Jan)
• A digital players guide this was a listed bonus and they just put it on Facebook. I don't mind that but then don't list it as something you get specially for pre-ordering the game. (when I say pre-order I also mean KS, alpha and beta backers)
• Exclusive pack of ship paint jobs
• A ‘day one’ ship decal
You got the above along with the insurance discount if you buy the game today, This was proven on twitch and when asked about it they closed the threads. Also the paint job and decal had been in the game weeks before release so not so much "day one". The only thing the people who bought the game after release hasn't been getting is the permit and the Eagle.

We had 3 things added after the initial alpha pack were announced, I wouldn't call 3 things loads but hey marketing spin I guess. these were;
Sol permit
insurance discount
1 of 5 ships
As I can see the only one we have had is the permit.
if everyone is gettting the discount one then can only assume it is either in and is not really a bonus at all or it simply is not in the game at all yet.

I highlight the word "ADDITIONAL/EXTRA" because some brighter lot of the community get confused and assume this is the Eagle. I would go into the definition of additional but I would not want to come across as being condescending. I would also politely ask them to enlighten us on what the initial ship is since they are in addition to if not the Eagle.
I would also like to point out 1 more sentence just to ease the mind of those of you who would stick up for FD

The release has been and gone and still nothing! Not even a comment to say when we would get them and what it is we have actually had.
At this point it is the Eagle, permit and manual.
Over 1600 people so far who have sent all this information to Trading Standards UK and they who have started a investigation into FD since it is clearly stated we have had everything except the art book.
This simply is not true.
I don't mind waiting but do not lie to us or try to throw blankets over your consumers eyes buy throwing miss information at them.
This is a fantastic game and all credit to the Devs, The customer service and mods are simply abysmal and have destroyed the reputation of this franchise .

There was a thread that was moved to Support. Then there was a email group that was made between some players the information abount the number of people cane from and email sent to a solicitor who is leading the whole thing.
So the day one decal was implemented early. Is there a problem with that? It was a bonus, and that bonus was given a little early to beta backers. That's not a bad thing as far as I can tell. As far as players who didn't pre-order receiving it... well, who knows? Maybe it's a mistake that they can't be bothered fixing right now.
They flat out said that the ships wouldn't be released on release. We will have access to the ships when they are released.
They didn't say a pack of paint jobs, they said a paint job. And it's there. Tired of people saying otherwise.
As for the in-game digital rewards? They are there. The ones that are available are there. The extra ships they're referring to in that sentence was the eagle. It's an ADDITIONAL/EXTRA ship to the sidewinder, which everyone starts with.
As for the stuff that isn't out yet? Be a little patient. The devs have worked hard over the past few months. They've earned a little time off. Game development isn't easy. These people hardly go home when it gets to just before a release. They never have quiet days. I have a close family member in the business. It's tough. Days off are few and appreciated. So give them a break.

Its totally unreasonable to assume this stuff will get sorted over Christmas. If you ticket it, you will get an official response from support. You will only get abuse from a riled up player base for posting misinformation about lies and deceit.
Post your source, or it didnt happen, as they say!

Who said anything about them not being entitled to time off? I didn't.
I'm a 2nd Chef how is there work any different then anyone elses? Its work... They work no harder than any other person. Everyone is entitled to time off. They are based in the UK and are entitled to the same amount of time off as everyone else that works in the UK there is a law for such things (Military is different).
Day one decal well clearly the one added early isn't the "day one" decal then is it? lol

Also the quote is in the subject of the Pre-order Mercenary Pack bonuses not the digital download.

I can't see where I have bashed the devs at all in my quote. I said they have done a good job. The marketing team and the CS is worse than EA.

This has been discussed multiple times before. I'm going to attempt to be as kind as possible, but please note that this subject is old, and most people won't take kindly to bringing it up again.
If you don't know someone personally who works in the industry, you can't possibly know what it's like, I'm sorry. It's a tough job. They are on their time off. That's why you're not seeing much right now.
It's day one to everyone who preordered and didn't get into beta. Just because some players got access a little early doesn't make it less 'day one'.
I did read the entire post. I never said the sidewinder was a bonus. I said the eagle was a bonus. And they meant 'ships' as in 'all of the eagles that all of you players should be receiving.' There's one ship per player right now, and they were talking to multiple people at once. This has been explained.
They flat out said that the 5 ships would not be released on release day. This goes back to my previous point.

KS campaign is no different from the homeless outside the highway exit or at the roadlight, that ask you money for the ticket to go home, or to pay the doctor's bills and such. You donated money, whatever you get back, just be happy about it and think about others that were not so lucky
I received a paint job, a free eagle and the sol permit (is the skull decal in the list? Got that too); beside that, the game is barely working; you can call it early access, considering all that has to be added; and we worry about what was promised months ago? I would be happier to see this game fleshed out more, to see a real mechanic for exploring, mining, smuggling and piracy (as is now; we have received a hammer, a set of nails and the freedom to build what we want...too bad there is no wood nor tools to do anything else, beside hammer nails LOL).
Give the FD people a break; they did what was expected from them; they made a game called Elite Dangerous, where you pilot a ship, you trade, smuggle, be a pirate, bounty hunter, mine asteroids and discover new places, in a 400B star system reproduction of the galaxy. In a year or 2 we can start to complain if something is not ready....as is now I believe they deserve a round of applause and some well deserved rest, until next year.
On the legal aspect, for obvious reasons, you won't find any info about it, because there are interests and like in any confrontation between consumers and companies that has a certain presence, everything is handled with lawyers and consumers associations behind the scene. So asking for sources is not really something that should be asked, honestly. If you search on internet, you will see that there are plenty of sites that are making clear that people are dissatisfied, and are pressing on FD to resolve the issues, but you won't find much because the posts are usually removed from anywhere they get published.
Anyway, just relax and enjoy the 1.0 version of ED; at least you've got something to play, hoping that it will get better in the near future.

It's implied by the tone of your post. Not stated, perhaps not intentional, but it comes across as implied.
It's likely that you're right that the day 1 decal hasn't arrived yet. Not certain, but likely and it would be nice to know for certain. However, it's hardly a big deal if it's a little late.
There's 2 possibilities here, the first and most likelt is that they have properly used the plural based on addressing a group. Sure we have 1 decal and 1 ship each, but as a group we have decals and ships. The second is that the additional "s" was a typing error that is only co-incidentally correct English. Either way, it is referring to the contents of the mercenary edition, and that we have - the paint job is there, the decal is there and the eagle is there.
They said that the free eagle was there on release - and it was. The additional ship, which I would remind you they said we would have "free access" to, not receive free, will come after it was released. I don't know what the access restrictions would otherwise be. I'm expecting that it will be gated by a reputation requirement and that will be waived for backers. I'm not expecting to just be given the hull.
Given that your complaints are all targetted at items that need to be created by the development side of the company, whether that's the code development or artwork development sides, your post clearly is critical of the development team.
What you're really complaining about is Frontier's priority allocation. They chose to downshift the priority on having the things like the digital art book available on release in favour of other targets. Whether they were right to do so is, of necessity, a matter of opinion.
As it is, I happen to agree that Frontier deserve a degree of criticism for not having the contents of the advertised release edition available for release date. Frontier chose the contents, chose the release date, and missed it. On the other hand, they DID provide a functional game, as perfect a launch as I can recall from any game I've played from a server standpoint, rapid response on the very very few critical issues that arose at release time. If I had to choose between playing the release on the 16th and having to wait a month more so everything could be ready together, I would rather have the Dec 16 release. You may well be different, it's opinion.
Where I strongly disagree with you is your use of the word "scammed". This word has strong negative connotations - I have no doubt that's why you used it. It implies that Frontier deliberately advertised a product with the intent of never supplying it. This is patently not the case. Frontier have stated what is in the release product. They have stated the contents of the mercenary edition. They have stated what the backer perks are. They will deliver on all of it. Just not on the schedule they would have originally desired.
So if you were adding a single ship model to multiple accounts, would that be one ship, or multiple ships? As you are 2nd chef, think of it as adding a yorkshire pudding to each pre-order's plate. Would you need one pudding, or more than one?
Maybe a bad anology... I can't imagine this guy would be responsible for something as important as yorkshire puds!

As said before there communication to the public has been rubish. They have never answered ONE! of these threads and tried to clear things up they have simply closed them. How is that good communication?

They could have simply say " The 1 of 5 ships are not in game but we are working our hardest to get them to you asap" but nope nothing.
As for working They can only work a max of 48 hours and are entitled to the same amount of days off as everyone else in the UK (unless you are in the Civil Service) Or you opt out which is your choice no company can force you to do this. No doubt the job is stressful at times, all jobs are but they are no harder than fire fighters or Police officers (those two jobs are clearly more intense) and you don't see them wanting 2 weeks off a xmas or complaining about deadlines for court cases ect. They just get the job done.
game production takes time I'm fine with that. I don't mind waiting until 2016 to get the ships just be more clear about what it is your doing.
Some people might be happy with not getting what they paid for and when they said they would get it but some of us are it is purely an opinion thing.
Not once did Frontier state that there would be more than 15 on launch. The number of playable ships was increased to 25 as a Kickstarter stretch goal but it was the fans that assumed this would be on launch day. The number of promised playable ships has been increased to 30.
