Where is everyone?

So do Fanboys like you, that refuse to admit the game is lacking.

call me whatever you like. I think the game has work to be done but so does pretty much every game out. All you whiners complain about the grind.. the boring aspects of the game.. please tell me one MMO out there that does not contain a grind. This game has less of a grind than any I have played do to the fact there is no end game, no level cap to reach... I understand that without those types of goals some people will just not understand that this game is not about personal progress but about how the game evolves and grows around us. I know the economics are working, I see it as I trade multiple times between the same 2 stations and the prices slowly get worse because I am effecting the supply and demand. I have never seen that in WoW, Guildwars, destiny, DA:Inquistion or any othe multi-player type game. Yes the game is lacking in areas, Multi-player being one of the areas, but to dismiss the whole game as trash because of a few things that need work is just plain stupid. If you judge every game by what is lacking then there is no game made that you are happy with. call me a Fanboy, it does not bother me at all. I will continue to play until I am no longer enjoying the game.. Thats what I did with Wow, SWTOR, GW, Secret World, Conan, WarHammer, and all the others I have played over the last 40 years. Not once did I jump into their forums and start slamming the game because "I" thought it was flawed or boring, because guess what... I know that, like you... no one cares what I think

This game is a long journey, this is just the start - and as the majority realised in Gamma, December was far to early to claim this as a full release.

As time passes each aspect of the game will be worked on and mature - including the multiplayer and matchmaking.

People will come and go, the wise will dip in and out until they find enough interest in the game to carry on and enjoy it. The foolish will leave their investment behind and forget about it. And the trolls will carry on talking their continual rubbish in the forums.

Due to the fact some people find it amusing to inderdict me when I have no bounty or cargo and destroy me for the 'fun' of it - I have chosen to remain in solo play, and I think this is the case for many people.

At the moment it is far to easy to 'grief' people - the game is already unforgiving and even in solo play its easy to be killed accidently by NPC's ramming you as you try to enter or exit the space dock, or being killed by the internal weapons of a space station trying to shoot something on the outside (I managed to escape an NPC pirate and run to a station only for the station to blow me up in an attemp to kill the pirate).

I simply do not have the time or inclination to deal with people who think it's 'fun' to destroy an unarmed ship with no cargo, thats why I am in solo mode.

I sympathise with your experience, although after weeks of playing i've not met any greifers yet myself.... but you should not be getting attacked if you have no booty and no bounty on your head, I really can't understand why anyone woould do that it seems to not go with the spirit of the game.

However I do not agree that the best solution is to run and hide away in bubble wrap mode... I would like to offer my services as bounty hunter and go chase them down for you, just send me their ship registration code and last known location and I'll get straight on to it. All I ask is once I have terminated them for you that you thank me by making a small donation into my Galactic credit account....

When I have made enough money to kit out a good ship for dogfighting, I'll certainly be playing multiplayer, but as it stands it very difficult to advance yourself as a new player, and 'griefers' simply add to that difficulty.

Hopefully some kind of system can be worked out by FD to stop indiscriminant murder.

That's okay, that's why we have Solo mode. But I'm always in Open mode, and I've expect many players around -- say 3 :)

Actually from what I've heard from my friend who wiped a save and restarted, they moved the starting position back into the old Eranin neighborhood. That's not that close to Sol. Also keep in mind that day 1 adopters can't enter Sol without Fed rep grinding.

But nice to see you back Commander, I hope that the latest network changes at least sorted out your problems with meeting your friends.

Oh, you're right. I've completely forgot about the permit. Still, I think there would be many people who at leasr wants to have a look at Earth.

Nice to see you too! Yes, now it seems like it's meeting each other is much easier.

True, but I've been playing since Beta 1, and it feels very empty now.

Try visiting Leesti, busiest system in the galaxy!!

I've just started playing a few days ago. I see a lot of human players around the starting area - where was that? LHS 3447 I think.. - and yesterday evening in LHS 3384 / LTT 7421 and surrounding systems.

A thing that actually bothered me was that I had to wait for ages to be able to dock on an outpost to complete a cargo delivery mission. Human players constantly coming in and we're all fighting for that one single spot on that station. A waiting queue could be a nice addition. It's not like real life where you can easily ask "who's last?" and expect everyone to cooperate nicely.

Thanks for the hints, guys!

Greetings all,

At one time, less than a week or two ago there was a very busy Pilot hanging around the Sol system.
- Well over a billion in bounty offered, perhaps he has scared off any live Pilots?
- He was soon replaced by others, all around Sol.
But it is indeed a very large universe, with most keeping only a few systems jumps once they find profitable locations. But the wars and inter Faction battles are heating up, went through 2 systems that were very active. Each had dual low conflict and high conflict areas, and with capital ships present.
Just in travels don't often run into live Pilots, some nervousness about there intensions, so normally keep a wide berth.

The problem is, they don't quit the forums

They don't quit the game either :D

For the topic, I see players in open in a lot of systems. I've explicitly checked the UPNP config of my router to make sure UDP ports are allowed to be opened automatically, dunno if OP did that...

I play in solo or private group and the game does not seem empty to me, quite a bit going on with the NPC ships.
Went to a USS and saw a wedding convoy with an asp and a few other ships, one was doing constant spinning, so it occupants must be having fun.

I do think there's a genuine bug with the matchmaking that's linked with upnp and the thread mentioned earlier about the port forwarding. Hopefully they'll look into it first thing in the new year.

I've been to Sol, Founders, Lugh and Sorbago during "events", LHS 1914 more recently. I've been playing for a while, I remember when it changed to beta.

I've seen a handful of real players total. Either the matchmaking doesn't work (I suspect this), everyone is playing private games or there simply aren't that many playing the game. It's pretty bad.

I am playing from Alpha and when game released, I was dropped 30 LY from my initial starting point, that was i Bootis. I don't even bother going to Sol (neither do I know where is it from my location), space has such other sights to be seen and discovered ...Empty triangle or empty vertical stick show real players. In the systems I travel, station is full of them but they not communicating, thats another thing :)

For me, home is where girls with big (.)(.) are and that is Venusville bar on Mars ... :)))

Very smart, but think logically. For a lot of new commanders Sol was the starting system, they are familiar with it, so most of them are nearby. Also, those who were playing from the beginning wants to see Sol for once at least.

And hey, it's Sol. You know, our very own solar system. It's a tourist attraction, it's the most familiar place, it's Home.

Everyone has switched to solo mode or group play cause they are scared of pirates, The end of ED for alot of ppl is soon to come.

Nothing to do with legit pirates.
It's to many mindless psychopaths happy to blow up your trading ship for nothing more than a giggle. Puts many people off playing in open. If you do a search on the forums you'll find very large pve only groups.

I've been playing online since i began three weeks or so ago, but i moved up to Alliance space and recently got my Alliance permit to enter Alioth. I tend to see about 5-6 people a day in the Alliance area and we don't attack each other generally as we have an unspoken camaraderie (is that a word? i hope so)

Again ED will die out because of this, if only want to keep their 40 year old space trucker fan base thats up to them as long as they are will to aacept the consquenses
