Maintenance cost??

I have recognized that my ship slowly get damaged ... even though I wasn't forcefully pulled out of Hyperspace, I had no fights, I didn't bumped into things and so on...

But even then my Paintwork gets damaged and the ship integrity is sinking. (wasn't that way in beta)

Is it a feature or a bug?

its a feature, kind of like having your car serviced every year even though you didn't hit anything, parts wear out and need maintaining.

When did they add this? I know it wasn't in in beta ... and I am pretty sure it also wasn't in the 1st gamma (after that I stopped playing since I assumed a reset to launch and my schedule was kinda tight)

its just another useless "how to annoy people feature" with absolutely NO other purpose than sucking credits out of you,
just as as the low ammo limit on cannons, the ridicolous ammo cost, the blatantly low rewards for killing a enemy or exploring
the space trucking frameshift 50% distance auto speed drop...the list goes on and on. My last wear and tear bill was 25 thousand credits in
a Cobra after playing for a couple of hours....thats about 8% of the ships hull cost. R I D I C O L O U S.

I think it was in both?

i'd have to check the patch notes to be sure but i think it was gamma 2.0.

It was free during the Betas and charged for during Gamma... But man... it can sure get expensive.
Today after just one hop and a scoop, I was charged 3500Cr for my Cobra. I can't imagine how much I would have paid had I been flying a Conda.

Any heat damage? I haven't had a bill like that it a Type-9 even without having hurt something.

I'm being extra careful to not get close enough to trigger even the slightest overheating. Yet still get these bills.
Now... I am using a size 3 shield instead of the size 4... could that be triggering a multiplier?

Maybe the damage rate increases if you ignore it? It might make sense because you are flying a damaged ship, so it wears out faster and faster.

I repair everything each time I land, and all I ever get for just flying around or a scratch or two on the station floor is a 1Cr bill for paintwork, and that's on a Python.

Rubbish, it's purpose is to give some realism, if you have some form of a vehicle it's going to suffer wear & tear from use & its environment.
.
I have a Cobra too & I have never had that much wear & tear damage! Even getting my hull shredded to single % figures from battle doesn't cost 25K to repair.
I think you've got your figures wrong there. Maybe 2.5k? And if so I think you must of had some kind of impact damage to the hull?
.
As for the cannon ammo limit, if you're talking about multi cannons I have no idea as I haven't used them yet, but for the large cal cannons the limit is ok, maybe slightly low but it lasts me sometime (don't know exactly but several battles with large ships in warzones).

Yes, I know for a fact that it does get progressively and almost geometrically worse... but brother... this was just one hop and a scoop and I got hit with 3500Cr fee for washing my windshield! :D Next time I'm hiring that bumb sitting on the curb with the cardboard sign that reads "I'm not gonna' lie to you, I need money to pay for smokes and beer". :D

Don't know, maybe, but I regularly sun scoop in my Cobra (C4 shlds) don't recall any repair bills from that. Oh I never let the heat go over 115-120% & mostly keep it down to ~100%

When I swap up my size 3 shield for the size 4 I'll make a note of testing this again and post if i see anything change.

I must admit, the structural damage taken in my ASP is pretty dam diabolical, ive easily covered half the rebuy cost (rebuy 750k) of it in just over 2 hours or round about there.

The small wear and tear is a gameplay feature intended to add realism to the game as your ship would start to degrade over time. Being heated up and cooled down at alarming rates wouldn't really be great for paint. It is a little annoying but its minuscule and honestly I kind of like it. It does add more depth and ownership of ships to the game. If you're spending thousands of credits on repairs then this is different.. This is actual damage and can be avoided if you listen to what your ship tells you.

I'd report both of these instances to Support, they are completely out of whack with what is normally being charged for wear and tear, there may be some database issues against your account data causing this. I can do 10 or 15 trips without having anything other than some paint wear and tear on my Cobra. Other than when I've been pretty beaten up in fights I've never seen more than 100Cr in wear and tear, ever.

I'm getting oddly paranoid, because I'm having absolutely no issues with wear and tear, and am starting to wonder why. o_o Heck, my Viper would sit in the sun with the heat at 110 to 130 percent for five solid minutes, get shot at LOTS, jump all over the place, get shot s'more, bounced around the interior of a stardock like a ping pong ball by accident, was fine, and this was during long stretches of not suffering any battle damage. I briefly had a Cobra, don't remember any wear and tear there, and I've legit crashed my Type 6 freighter so hard it took out two shield bars, along with overheating every time I jump, and no damage. The only time my ships have gotten damaged outside combat was Interdictions, and since I stopped doing those (decided that, when Bounty Hunting, I was better off just lurking in resource fields) I've only, very rarely, had to pay a literal 1 credit repair cost, regardless of the ship type.

Hopefully my good fortune holds! I don't even want to guess what my freighter's repair bill would be. T_T

Have you actually checked the repairs section when you are at the starport ? Wear 'n tear isn't fixed from the starport services homescreen - you have to go looking for it !

I suspect it's at 100% by now :) I'm getting ~4k CR bills when I check for my mostly kitted out Adder - normally around the 60% wear mark - which doesn't seem too unreasonable.

thanks, although i must admit, when using my cobra, i hardly had any structural damage, and the cost for repairing it was pennies, i've only really noticed how costly it can be to keep a ship like the ASP if you aren't doing trade runs and it's eating into my profit margin. But then when i initally bought the ASP it was never this bad, it only started happening in the past couple of days, so wasn't sure if they tweaked somthing server side affecting everyone. I don't want to boher them with a ticket right away, hopefully this thread will get some further feedback so i can compare my repair cost to other just to be sure. Gonna test it now a bit further, get some screenshots to back up my claim.

Thats how it use to be for me, past couple of days its skyrocketed when in my asp.
