Perks of being a 'Respected Ally'

I have been working toward an Imperial Clipper for a while now, and while Iv had the cash for it for about 3 days, I made the unfortunate mistake of checking the prices etc at stations that I was not listed as ally, so I expected to have to work it up to the rank of Baron as the red text said.

Just found out (Durrr) that one of the perks of being super friendly with the locals is that they over look that lack of a military rank and will sell you the ship anyway.

Are there any other little perks like that? assuming i didn't just stumble upon a bug.

Better quality missions is one. I'm currently best buddies with the Pilot's Federation and they keep offering me excellent missions day in day out now. Also noticed i don't seem to be getting scanned as often by the local station i regularly visit

allied now with the dukes of mukinn a minor faction on the outskirts of space, and a test of the influence political system, dont get scanend or interdicted as often by the faction, and im getting better quality and paying missions

There's also the point that allies are much less frequently scanned - useful if you've picked up a bounty in a ship too large to dock at a platform.

I'm close to deciding who to ally with. I'm friendly with the Federation but tempted to go for Alliance/Imperial as there's more Federation to bully.

A lot of freight seemingly runs through Imperial too... it'd be nice to shoot it all.

Verified 20-25% discount on fuel costs. I am not sure if it works only if the "real" station rep is Allied or in all cases.
For example 10% fuel on asp costs usually 1600. With allied rep, you get it for ~1300.

It seems to me also that as my rep increases I can "return" stuff at no or little loss. Fore sample I bought too much gold and sold back some. I wasn't able to pinpoint 100% is it was tied to rep or just commodity supply and demand.

So kind of on topic... In the ball park? As a result of me being allied to many law abiding, imperial factions, the less legally conscious ones have turned unfriendly. I love the "do your business and leave" greeting. Is hostile next? I take it I will loose docking privileges? Shot at?

If you're hostile to a faction, you are kill on sight to it's ships

2 more perks:
1. Local alliances (allied to the local station) influence global reputation (Federation/Empire/Alliance), as was said by one dev (sorry, no link). I am not sure, whether this starts with friendly status and is increased by alliance or starts with alliance.

2. Allied ships show their information without scanning, like internal security. This might be triggered case by case, as I have noticed legal status shown and not shown sometimes.

BTW: If you drive up global reputation up to friendly or allied, all aligned stations will receive a rep jump. I see so much greener now.

Hmm that's interesting. I'm Allied with all 3 major factions but haven't tried to buy a Dropship or a Clipper because of the rank requirement.

Will try it it later on today and see what happens.

Gaining recruit rank is very easy. I've only done three rank advancement missions and I'm a recruit already.

I havent noticed anyting different with an allied status, as some one else posted they get a message welcome respected ally, I get welcome commander

LOL, 3, I have only done the 1 for federation and went to recruit.

The rank missions get more rare, once you progress higher. From Outsider to Serf/Master was quick, but it took me several hours/days to get from Lord to Baron.

About the rank for the clipper and Allied status. It was reported earlier, that Sub-Barons (Lord, Knight) were able to purchase it. It might be linked to the reputation or more probable, bugged. Maybe, it says Baron to purchase it, but it is possible at e.g. Knight rank.

As rising to Baron took me longer than getting a Python, I think, that the Baron requirement is too high anyway.

Edit: It is one mission per rank, but usually, a couple of them are offered in parallel, until one is fulfilled. No need, to do the additional ones before the the next rank-up.

I haven't noticed any "good" missions from allied status with feds or a local faction. They all still seem mostly not worth doing except for the high paying assassination missions which don't require high faction.
