WHY? Why are you carrying "Grain"?

lol dont say that man makes me feel bad about pirating lol

Maybe grain was all he could afford, and him and his family had pooled together all their money in one last desperate effort to stave off the hunger over the winter months, and ensure Tiny Tim was at least once able to go to bed with a warm meal in his stomach. 'Cause Tim's cough is getting worse and he's been looking a lot paler this past week. . . . . . . .

Trying to come up with a hypothesis why he might have grain in his cargo hold:
- Could have been a bulletin board mission. They often ask for foodstuffs of different sorts, including grain.
- If it was a ship with a very large hold it might just have been soon after he bought it. Lacking the money to fill the hold with expensive stuff grain actually gives a very good return on investment, in some cases 400% or so. Of course it's 400% of very little, but that's still better than 10% of still very little. You see, as a pirate it pays understanding traders to avoid unfortunate incidents.

But seriously, don't you pirates carry a cargo scanner? If you dropped me out of supercruise in my Asp or Hauler I wouldn't have 12t of cargo to give you since these are my exploration ships and I simply don't carry any cargo. You wouldn't believe me and shoot me up and just because you don't carry a cargo scanner? Shame on you, sir!

i wouldnt pirate and asp in the first place. i only go for strictly haulers

I have a theory, the reason you don't see many pirates in open play is because they all play solo to protect the bounties on their heads. A player driven ship might actually defeat them where an NPC never will. I gave up serious bounty hunting for this precise reason

i dont have bounties cause i dont kill people i just take thier stuff lol and the fines and bounties are really small so i can pay them off eaisily

What did you expect him to be carrying, gold? :p

Anyone carrying expensive cargo isn't likely to be in open play if they are near a busy area.

This was the pilot of grain ship ...

The way i play the game is i sit in super cruise at 30km/sec check all local traffic for "wanted" and larger bounties, i usually go for hauling vessels with "wanted" as the carry precious illiagal goods, if i get bored and see a player in some sort of hauler ill pull him over and empty his cargo to see whats hes got some time sits very good loot sometimes it not so much.

LOL! Popcorn time...

Next time, scan the cargo hold first. Or they might be dumping toxic waste on you, or biowaste.

^^^^ what this guy said, and i respect the fact he does this in open mode where there is actually some danger let it be a very tiny miniscul chance of it he plays in open mode +1 rep for him

I do have to wonder, how many pirates demanding cargo would actually be fooled by a trader using heat sinks to seemingly dump cargo?

That'd be pretty funny.

"Give me your cargo."

"Ok, ok, here it is..." /activate_heatsink /dump_heatsink "There. Can I go now?"

"Sure, get out of here! (Idiot.)

*Trader leaves*

"Man what a moron, I didn't even have to fire a warning shot. Let's get that gold into me.... DOH"

A hauler can be upgraded to carry 16 cargo right? If you're demanding 12 cargo, there is little incentive to comply. The "for some reson he refused" could very well be that you're demanding 75% of his cargo. And for a mission to boot.

that is a good possibility, but if dosnt give it to me ill just take it simple as that ill have more thanenouhg time to take out his cargo hatch with my guns like i said in the first post "getting really good at that"
