What else can i do?

trading - not possible. i dont have any cargo slots or a ships that is able to jump with cargo loaded.
discovering - no profit, everything looks the same and my jump drive is to small
fighting - not possible with my ridiculous weapons
socializing - a joke. there is no way of socializing without a chat

Start with trading, upgrade cargo racks as priority even if it means selling other things, previous post advices this as well. Many people for trading do sell shields to give more cargo, so just be careful docking if you do this and run from fights with boost and max pips to engines and activate super cruise once FSD cools down enough to do so.

There is a crowd sourced trading tool with shared server data if you want it somewhat easier (slopey's trading tool). https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=53037
Trade enough to get a hauler.
Get more credits and build up gradually.

It is a game with a slow start but if you trade using the above tool and extra cargo slots then after about 40 hours gaming you should be doing much better.

If you are finding the game too hard to begin with then play in solo mode as then there is at least not the added difficulty from other real players who are not always very nice to the weaker ships. You can switch between solo mode and open mode at will with no penalty and same character and ship etc.

*** Very important ***: Once you have acquired more then make sure you always have enough cash to rebuy using insurance. The insurance rebuy cost is in your left UI panel. This is important because if you die you do not want to start at square one again.

Wrong on every single point except socializing. You are a complete noob and have no idea what you are talking about.

You can EASILY make enough money to get a tier 1 specialization ship: basically an eagle, hauler are good enough to start fighting/trading respectively. They are very cheap, and in one day you can build up the cash in a sidewinder for these ships.

Stop complaining and go kill some wanted sidewinders/eagles with your stock pulse lasers or something. Just sit at a Nav Point or an extraction point instance, the authority vessels will even HELP YOU kill them!

Iam throwing a towel!

Everyone is writing how you can easily earn thousand millions of credits. oh be a merchant, get a cargo ship, find a trade route using thurds and be a rich man ... I CAN BUY NOTHING. There is no progression, there is no step forward, there is no content!!

Erm people are though, still if you just want to be angry there's not much help for someone who doesn't help themselves.

Ok, I think your attitude is a little off but I can see you are frustrated, my advice is as follows:

If you're having trouble learning to fight in the stock sidewinder my advice is to run through the tutorials until you get a bit more comfortable with things.
If players interdicting you bothers you play Solo mode until you have a ship you feel more comfortable with (also see above)
Once you are more comfortable with combat in the Sidewinder you can earn decent cash bounty hunting with no risk really (if you die you're straight back in a stock Sidewinder for free)
There are plenty of missions in the game that ask you to bring 1-2 units of cargo (even if they the ones where you need to find somewhat dubious items floating in space) - if you aren't getting offered any in the station you're at don't wait for the board to refresh, just fly to another station and try your luck there. Alternatively look into trading Rares although this will probably need you to have a better FSD

This is very much a game that rewards patience and there are very few (if any) quick routes to success at anything....hopefully that helps and you're willing to give the game another chance :)

1:Trading is perfectly possible. If you dont think you can, its because you are mistaken and dont understand the way the game works.
2: Lots of profit in discovering, I made over 4K from a system 2 jumps away from my starting position.
3. You can win fights in the starting ship, if you know which ones to pick.

Also you dont have to do missions. However if you cant find any good missions at your starting station, you can fly to other stations. 1000 cr buys a lot of fuel for SW.

Hi, i bought elite a couple of days ago. Till today i wasnt able to have fun with it!

Why?
I tried to do the mission from the board ... but most of the missions are not possible to run them with my starting ship. Iam not able to run 8 whatever of cargo, iam not able to win a fight with the sidewinder and iam not able to be a free merchant cause my ship cant jump with the amount cargo (till today dont know where i can see if iam overloaded).
So i sit in a station an wait for a new job on the board ... but nothing happens. always the same crappy missions that i can perform!!!!

i played a lot - i played the old school hardcore flightsim F-16, i played the origional "elite", i played the buggy "x" and many more. But this game is a joke!!
Players are killing me after they kicked me out of hyperspace, my ship is weack and the mission generator is programmed by a beginner.

And then there are the bugs - when you cant see the numbers of the docking ports, when a station is attacking you but you did nothing, and so on!

So i have the right to get my money back! GIVE IT BACK TO MY CREDITCARD!!!!
Really, a rant like this will get you no sympathy, and little help. Had you found a nasty bug that had wiped you out you might have got some sympathy. This is supposed to be Elite: Dangerous, though many of us think it is still far too easy. Getting going can be tough, but is doable. You CAN make profit trading - not much at the moment, because you cannot afford expensive commodities, but you can get there. There are courier missions that you can take on that do not require any cash outlay. But as others have said, read the manual. Look at UTube. Read the politer 'help' threads on here that will have generated more favourable responses than a rant.

Everything you have complained about is solely down to your lack of knowledge and understanding of the game. You can't get a refund for that.
The starter Sidewinder is perfectly capable of doing all the options you have: Trade, Explore, Mine, Bounty Hunt. You just need to learn how to do those in that ship.
Sometimes to get to a destination system, you will need to go via a couple of others that are closer, that's what the route planner is for.
So you played F-16, Elite '84 and X, those are not Elite Dangerous and you can't compare them in the way you seem to want to. Your skill in one game does not automatically transfer over to every other game.
You've only had the game two days? Try taking some time to learn the game then, before demanding your money back because you don't have the ability to play it properly.

Did you play the training missions? ...

If you get intedicted with a sidy, most "enemy" ships don't have a shield. You have one. It is easy to beat them, except if you play with the keyboard.
You will get easy money, if they are wanted. If they are not wanted, just run.

Since you are playing hardcore F-16, I think you have a joystick. So every interdiction should give you enough money to buy better equipment.

imo the sidy has 4 cargo slots. If you search a little bit, you'll be able to make 400 to 1200 credits per slot, per run.

We all needed to start small and for me it was fun.

Wonderful - running cargo runs for 1200 credits, takes me around 45 runs for the next boring ship. FORTYFIVERUNS??? thats a universe of grinding!!!! Its the same thing as going to work - but here i earn a lot of money!
my problem is not to steer my ship or to handle the trade market or to reach a forgein star system... my problem is that there is no gameplay.
my problem is not to fight someone. iam able to lower your shilds, but they recharge faster than my little weapons cooldown. so i always have to stop fighting and must flee.
my problem is the bad game design!

Probably should try to get your money back then. I cant see frontier making it so the starter ship is as good as a 60M ship, and it will take more than 5 mins to do anything of real impact with your starter ship. It sounds like you fall below the minimum level required of learning curve tolerance to get anywhere.

What you could do is load a youtube vid of someone playing elite who could do it, go full screen, and pretend its you playing, cos I cant see you getting your money back on a download.

Others seem to progress just fine. Hey ho, you better head to the store website and raise a ticket. Good luck.

If you used a credicard, OP then just do a chargeback.

@Alric

If you leave before half of the movie they'll issue you a refund as well.

Iam throwing a towel!

Everyone is writing how you can easily earn thousand millions of credits.

If, as you say "Everyone is writing this", doesn't that at the very least make you question what you're doing? This game won't make things easy for you, or hold your hand. This is deliberate and by design, cool down and figure it out.

I feel your pain. But have you tried to play the game for what it actually is instead of trying to jump in the deep end with a brick rapped around your feet?

We all started where you are today. I have lost 36 ships in total, mostly sidewinders. I started off in Open play, then saw the queues to get into space stations and then went to Solo. Try your hand on solo and then move on. A good tip for you is this. Look for a system with a Water based planet, then see if there are any mining systems around that system. You will find that one will need food and the other will need equipment.

This is just a simple tip.

There just is no point moaning on forum about demanding your hard earned cash back because nobody is actually listening to you, also you'll just get angry and people will start Trolling you.

My Advice is have a laugh in solo or group play and learn how to play before jumping in feet first then throwing the rattle out of the pram

Hi mottfired,

Have you had a chance to take a look at Forger's game guide and tutorial? Highly recommendable, 150+ pages of goodness with lore, background info and tips and tricks. I am sure by reading it a bit you can overcome many of the issues you had:
