Tim,
Try the pve group mate, or go solo. For what seems like your preferred play style I think that would give you the most fun out of the game.
Me as a retired teacher... you can't believe how tempting it is to get the red pen out sometimes![]()
Hi, I started playing on release day, in open play and have never switched to solo/group. Just got a Cobra. I've been interdicted countless times. Most of the time I can escape or out run, sometimes I die.
I play open because I WANT to be attacked by PLAYERS and NPCs, ED is meant to be fun, remember this isn't a fly on rails trading game, its Elite Dangerous.
Do you agree that experienced players should beat up on the newbies then?

Tim, in every MMO you will encounter players who like to kill other players , just for fun (though I can't see what's the fun in that but maybe I am too dumb to understand them
-Every- game which has PvP in it attracts those sad types, if you play in open mode you just have to learn to accept it as an inconvenience. But trust me, it doesn't happen that much in ED.
And to prevent any frowning, I am not pointing at players who play a pirate role trying to steal your cargo because that is gameplay as intended in open mode.
The same people that didn't wipe at release, are the same people that abused the rares to make 100s of millions of credits, are the same people that say its easy to make money, are the same people that say they aren't bothered about flying big ships, are the same people that are now pirates, are the same people that say go in solo mode and lose your chance to win in the elite competition if you don't like what they are doing, are the same people that will say your just crying.
I'll happily give you some quiet trade routes if you want them, chuck me a pm if you want.
Not in the entire history of the human race have we ever...ever played nice. Sorry OP but this is
working as intended and should never be changed.
I knew someone at school who was colour blind, he couldn't see green at all, and we used to laugh our heads off when the french teacher always used to write corrections in red and good comments in green which he couldn't see
Of course he thought he was terrible at French lol![]()
So you condone players with big ships taking out newbies for fun then?

O.k.
I think we have a problem....
The players that bought their way into the beta who have clearly not reset their save files are preying on the new comers that just got into the game from release.
I read that there was going to be some kind of system that meant that if this kind of behaviour was happening there would be some kind of penalty imposed on said player.
I just got interdicted... but what happened was not normal. It was like a double interdiction.... I'm normally really good at winning an evade as I have a good flight stick and know how to use it... but this was different... not only did I have to fight to stay in the exit trajectory but the whole screen blurred up and shook... in effect there was no chance... I'm assuming here that this is the result of the very high end interdicter. On loosing the interdict I had misiles and beam lasers all over me... obviously not the result of a new player.
I had very little cargo and I am not wanted, I have no bounty! So this player was just being an pain for the sake of it.
If this is the way it is going to be all the different things you can do in Elite will amount to nothing as we will all just have to arm ourselves to the teeth to fend off these infantile players!

Bit of a sweeping statement isn't it?
I am a premium beta kickstarter. I didn't know anything about the rarest thing, I only have 80k saved up after trading and exploring and am not a pirate.
Less sweeping and inflammatory thinking should probably be applied
Incorrect, there isn't much thought being applied.O.k. I think we have a problem....
There's a nice divisive statement. You made all beta players sound like nefarious griefers. I assure you - as have many others - that this is not the case. Why? Apply some logic. The players that bought their way into the beta who have clearly not reset their save files are preying on the new comers that just got into the game from release.
Please be more descriptive, nebulous sounding solutions result in nebulous sounding conclusions.I read that there was going to be some kind of system that meant that if this kind of behaviour was happening there would be some kind of penalty imposed on said player.
