Killing Elite Anaconda in Eagle

If you toss the A class sensors and life support in favor of D class you should be able to easily power everything without having to turn off life support, and you will save a considerable amount of weight as well. Long range gimbaled weapon accuracy is slightly negatively impacted by the reduced sensor quality, but you aren't fighting these things at long range anyway.

Regardless, with a bit more practice you should be able to take them without even needing SCBs or other consumables, even in the Eagle.

Also, shield recharge speed doesn't get any better if you still have energy in the SYS capacitor, but damage resistance percentage increases dramatically at higher pip settings. Four pips is something like 3-4 times as strong as two pips.

Anyway, nice showing.

I can see the blib on your radar from another vessel (pic 1) ;)

Towards the end of these fights System Security tend to warp in, they normally come in with at least three ships and as you can only see one far away there shows that I've tried to push the fight away from them. Mainly because I'm wanted and I wasn't going to have them trying to kill me also.

you dont have to turn off anything.

I hadn't looked into that yet as I didn't think there would be any good tutorials around yet, I was mistaken :D

Now do it without Skill Cell Banks :D

No need for all A modules. 95tons is heavy for an Eagle and removes the benefit of A3 thrusters.

I was going to put that challenge to others at the end of my post, but then I don't think I could do that in my Viper just yet.
And yeah, I knew I didn't need the A Modules at all, and on that note I have no use for a big FSD, I just wanted to make a pretty Eagle <3.

Thanks for the tips, though I suggest you check your shield recharge speed with no energy in systems. Talking about the recharge rate of the rings whilst they're still up, not the time it takes before shields come back online.

Turn off "report crimes".

It's all in the thruster control.

I normally wouldn't be wanted, but I fired at the Anaconda before I had finished scanning which gave me a fine. Apparently I need to confirm he's a pirate lord BEFORE I shoot.

Yep. Always scan to completion if you are in a regulated system.

Don't get me wrong, fighting an Anaconda in an Eagle is a feat nonetheless. I fly the Eagle, too (but only in a private group). I think the Eagle needs some love from the Devs to break the "bigger is better" ideology. And yeah, I could drop the weight even more with a lesser FSD, but I do exploration of enemy territory (read: Federal space) to report back to my Imperial superiors.

I'm flying me eagle looking for good setups at the moment. Need to work out some nice setups. I like the idea of a downgraded flight setup for enhanced combat good idea! I.e small fuel tank and low rank FSD. Is the torpedo good for big ship hunting?

So after killing a fair few Anacondas from the bulletin board (the 150k+ missions) with my Viper, I started to want a bit of variety. I looked at my balance and then at the cost of an ASP, and got the depressing thought that I'm not going to be able to change ship for a long time (already used the Cobra). Until the thought occurred to me that instead of upgrading my ship.. I could downgrade it.
I started off by trying the Adder vs an Elite Anaconda from a 198k assassination mission. Still very easy, and only required me to use 3 shield cells.
So then I decided to take it to the next stage, the Eagle:

...

Finally, it was done. Looking at my remaining life support, it took a grand total of approximately 9 minutes and 14 seconds.

Hat off to you Sir.

I stopped using shield cells. The AI doesn't use them, and that is what breaks combat. Currently I don't even have a chaff launcher. (I fly a Cobra)

That's what I was talking about too. I haven't noticed a huge difference in recharge speed as long as I kept energy in the cap (which takes 2.5-3 pips to match the rate of drain over the long term), but I could be mistaken.

Torpedoes do respectable hull damage, and have very good penetration for taking out modules, but an Eagle cannot carry enough torpedoes to do anything worthwhile to an Anaconda. The small size pylons are single shot.

The AI does use them, but these assassination targets are odd exceptions in this regard.

If you go to a conflict zone, for example, most "Master" or higher NPCs will be packing shield cells, and they will generally use them if you drop their shields below 1/3rd.

I'll try to start taking them off in my Viper, but active tanks tend to suit me as I like to get up close and person rather than kite. Plus turrets on an Anaconda is almost as annoying.

Shield cells make this possible in most ships. Which is why they need re-thinking :)
I agree, they currently ruin combat in the game and make PVP somewhat of a joke.

Yes I agree, Shield Cells are basically ridiculous. They should boost the effects of the other defences or reduce firepower instead of having this.

Limiting it to one cell bank per ship, reducing the amount of cells, longer cooldown/reload time and making it restore only one ring of the shield. I think that would fix it quite nicely.

I hope you don't mind me posting here my vid showing extermination of Elite Anaconda in Eagle (got interdicted by second one on way back). I don't want to spam same topic on forums.

No of course! The topic is a discussion of how to do it, if anything :) Awesome video, I think you're better at staying on mark than I am.

The amount restored depends on the quality of the module and the weaker ones will restore less than one ring to a decent shield already.

Then I'm proposing that the best quality ones should at most restore one ring of the best shield/shield fitted/shield of same class. Either way we know it needs to change; it wasn't easy or fast killing it in the Eagle, but I can melt it with a Viper with no risk to myself unless I leave it too long when using the shield cells; because of this I feel that there is no real reason/motivator to grind money in order to get the better ships, thus really breaking the game for many.
