New BAD article about NO communication and broken game

I'm not an "entitled gamer", I'm an IT professional. And yes, I did work during vacations precisely for the reasons I stated above. No matter how many simulated stress tests you perform, you just can't replicate the load and unpredictable behavior that a mass of actual users will bring on the systems. A "small glitch" will turn into a widespread communication failure. That's why you must be there ready to sort it out. How many money in loss of potential future sales from negative publicity is this going to cost FD?

Well if you're an IT pro then you would have some idea how much enterprise level 24x7/365 support actually costs! How much does you or your company charge for you to be available out of hours? I can't imagine you were so charitable that you did if for nought. I remember many times when other online games had issues and people couldn't play for days on end and we were paying subs for the privilege. The bull on these forum is ridiculous.

Nobody put a gun to FD's head and demanded that this game has to be online. They deliberately decided to do so. Hence, they also have to have a plan to provide appropriate support during holidays.

The problem is the silence. FD are like the little girl with the curl, when they are good they are very, very good but when they are bad they are rotten. Just one post saying what had gone wrong and what (and when) something will be done about it. Instead they go to the trouble of putting out a no-news letter.

Let me guess, you guys pushing all this type of stuff are SA, yes? Didn't get your way so you're going out of your way to bad mouth and disrupt the game as much as possible [of course, within forum rules, I mean you can't be getting booted and banned now can you, you've had to much experience playing at this forum warfare elsewhere for that now haven't you?]. It's pretty obvious there's a organised negative push being conducted on these forums. Anyway, well done, keep it up. :-/

Especially the nature of the bugs is annoying. This looks like they've never heard of atomicity and transactions. Stupid things may happen, exploits and crashes may happen, but this kind looks like they have not bothers testing they transactions for temporarily broken connections, faulty data etc. Sloppy work. I may be wrong (i make my living in this...)
But then again, devs don't talk to us, they are busy attracting new customers. Not caring for existing customers.

Well, copy and past articles. Also misinformation.... -_-

Elite Dangerous has been developed by Frontier Developments using COBRA engine. It was released to Microsoft Windows and OS X on December 16, 2014.
wrong wrong..... OS X is not an option, and we all know that.

This information is straight from the Wiki page.

@Bazil: To some extend it was sarcastic. Some did pay to play an unfinished game early and "help" find bugs and issues with game mechanics. If someone who did not have the money to buy in now criticizes bugs and issues, it is rather silly. There were massive amounts of reports of broken mechanics, issues, possible exploits et cetera, besides of the bugs. The common player jumps in expecting a flawless game experience and a worthy waste of time.

Now things do work quite well in Elite, some don't. Naming these in an article is just the way it is. In early Beta there was always a good communication with the Devs, one of the best I experienced.

However, just going on holidays after a release with some "severe" issues for at least enough players to make headlines, is bad mojo. And this is what this thread and the articles is all about, nothing more, nothing less.

No doomsayers, no apocalypse, no change in the powerstruggle for the next Emperor...

LOL, nope. They have been on vacation and just getting back to work. Still, you can thank your lucky stars that its a UK company. Here in Russia we are on vacation until the 12th... i've been drunk almost every day since the 24th of December. And on the 13th of Jan we have Old New Year to Celebrate as well... its a hard country to live in i can tell you. :D

I'll be back at work on Monday, same as a lot of other people who paid to play the game and were looking forward to playing it over their holiday.

Exactly! It is the fault of people who are amazed at a development team taking total holidays after release that there are issues! It is the fault of unreasonable people who would like to play a game they paid for during the holiday season (a game that was released right before said season surely not for being played, no). It is clearly obscene badmouthing when obvious issues are mentioned in some media outlets. There must be an organised negative push on these forums by people who would love to play the game, who would love to get just one word of status update, totally.
No you are surely right. There are no problems, there are no issues, nothing to see here. Just use your imagination that you are playing fine and stop being so demanding expecting that a product paid for gets support. Unreasonable, I tell you. Now let me read that latest newsletter.

I have been playing just fine though my holidays.
Would that have something to do with me knowing what I do? nah, impossible....

Of course not. Only clueless newbies have ghost cargo, or cargo bay issues, or outfittimg problems. It will all go away once everyone knows how to play.

My point being Elite has done quite well and I just think it's unfortunate the problems have occurred when they have.

Depends on whether one of the features dropped was a major one for you (as offline was for me), or if you were hit by one of the nastier bugs (like the ones that prevent the player from even logging until someone manually fixes his save). My personal experience with both Wasteland 2 and Divinity OS (and Broken Age, and Gianna Sisters, and Planetary Annihilation, and...) was far better than with Elite; I rank ED as my worst experience with a KS up to now.

But, hey, different people have different preferences, experiences, priorities, etc.

Oh you mean that couple of hours of hiccup the other day?

Oh sorry, I thought you were talking about some massive game breaking bug that is impeding people from playing
